Could Chapter 57 be about moon gazing?

Under the moonlight, the Third Prince still spoke with deep affection, "Wen'er, I love you. Would you like to leave this palace with me?"

Hearing the nickname "Wen'er," Chuanwen got goosebumps. However, she felt something was amiss. [If the Third Prince truly liked me as he claimed, why didn't he confess at any time? Why would he need to break into the palace in the middle of the night?]

The Third Prince, fearing that Chuanwen might guess something, grabbed her hand and said, "Wen'er, let's leave together."

I'm allergic to scumbags! Besides, you have athlete's foot!

Chuanwen rolled his eyes inwardly. The Third Prince stumbled and almost fell. Chuanwen: ? ? ?

The Third Prince tried to calm himself down and coughed. Seeing that he looked unwell, Chuanwen was afraid that he would be killed to silence him, so he quickly said, "I can leave, but you have to let me pack up."

The Third Prince's deep affection could always be shattered by Chuanwen in a second. He suppressed the urge to hit him and used all his willpower to pretend to be nonchalant, speaking gently, "No need to pack. I'll buy you whatever you want after we leave the palace."

The delaying tactics weren't working; he was as anxious as an ant on a hot pan. [The palace's security system is terrible! Letting someone sneak in is one thing, but how come no one noticed after all this time?! Help! Thunder is coming from the sky! A blind man has come out of his cave to play cards with a monk! Help!!]

The Third Prince pulled Chuanwen away, thinking that he should just knock her out. With her making such a fuss, even if he had an inside man in the palace, he would be discovered sooner or later.

Just as the Third Prince opened the door with one hand and was about to chop Chuanwen's neck with the other, the scene outside the room completely stunned him.

Outside the room, the moonlight cascaded down like a waterfall. The emperor, dressed in a dragon robe, stood in the courtyard. In front of him were the Thousand Bull Guards holding Thousand Bull Blades. On either side of him, a dozen or so generals in armor stood in a row, their eyes fixed on him with a half-smile. Behind him were archers standing ready, the moonlight shining on the arrow tips, which gleamed coldly.

"You've come to the palace, why don't you come and sit with me?"

The emperor smiled, but his gaze toward the third prince was colder than the moonlight.

The third prince was stunned. How could his father know that he had come to the palace?

That shouldn't be the case. He clearly came in the middle of the night, and Chuanwen was fast asleep at that time. How could he have exposed his whereabouts?

The messenger then exclaimed, "Your Majesty is mighty! My life is finally spared!"

The Third Prince was now consumed by malice. It didn't matter if he couldn't have the girl; as long as he killed her, he would still have a chance!

A cold, sharp dagger fell from his sleeve into his hand. The Third Prince was about to slit Chuanwen's throat when, in a flash, Chuanwen saw a flash of cold light and was pulled into an embrace. A strong gust of wind made it impossible for her to open her eyes, and she heard the clang of a weapon falling to the ground.

Changes can occur in an instant, and can also end in an instant.

When Chuanwen opened her eyes, she saw the Third Prince with a knife held to his neck by Zheng Yan. The dagger that had almost sent her to meet the King of Hell lay quietly at the Third Prince's feet.

Although he knew Zheng Yan would protect Chuanwen, the emperor still breathed a sigh of relief. Seeing Chuanwen's dazed expression, he worried she might have been frightened out of her wits. Then he heard Chuanwen's excited voice, "Exciting!"

emperor:"......"

It seems he was overthinking it. The girl didn't seem scared at all. Her eyes clearly showed she wanted it to happen again!

The dozen or so generals were increasingly satisfied with the report. It was nothing like the cowardly Marquis of Changxing; he had guts!

——

The Third Prince was invited to the Ganlu Hall for tea. The Emperor looked down at him, and the Third Prince insisted that he had broken into the inner palace at night because he missed Chuanwen so much.

The emperor wanted to slap him twice. Listen to what he's saying! To exonerate himself, he's throwing mud at a fourteen-year-old girl. How could he raise such a shameless and selfish son!

Chuanwen looked completely bewildered as he listened to the Third Prince's complaints about missing him so much that he couldn't sleep. "When did this happen? I've only met the Third Prince a handful of times. How can he be so lovesick?"

The emperor smiled and said, "Girl, don't be so narcissistic. If I couldn't hear your thoughts, how could my greedy son have taken a fancy to the wild girl that the Marquis of Changxing's mansion brought back?"

Then, Chuanwen exclaimed in his mind, "I know! The Third Prince hasn't let his athlete's foot odor ruin his brain, has it?!"

The emperor's lips twitched. This girl really knew her place. She'd rather suspect the Third Prince had lost his mind than consider that he actually liked her.

The Third Prince, who was making up a story about how he fell in love with Chuanwen at first sight, suddenly realized that he couldn't keep up the story. He suddenly felt that he didn't necessarily have to get his hands on this girl!

"Bring Hu Tong up here!"

The emperor glanced at the third prince, who immediately sensed something was wrong.

Hu Tong, Hu Nuan'er's father and Consort Shu's brother, was brought up bound hand and foot. The Third Prince's face, which had turned dark with anger from the news, immediately paled.

"Hu Tong, tell me, how did the Third Prince enter the palace so smoothly, and why were you waiting outside the palace walls with your troops?"

The emperor leisurely sipped his tea, while Hu Tong trembled with fear, his eyes darting around as he frantically tried to find an excuse. "Your Majesty, I don't know... I don't know how the Third Prince got in. I... I was leading troops outside the palace walls... Yes... Yes..."

Are they admiring the moon?

"Moon viewing!" Hu Tong was very grateful for the excuse that Chuanwen had given him, and quickly said, "I think the moon is very beautiful tonight, so I brought the soldiers out to enjoy the moon."

"[Is the moonlight beautiful?]" Chuanwen glanced out the window. A bright moon hung in the sky, its shadows mingling with the bamboo and cypress trees in the courtyard. "[It is indeed beautiful, but Lord Hu, does the Emperor look like a fool? In this cold weather, in the middle of the night, instead of sleeping, you come out to admire the moon? And with soldiers in tow! Who would believe such an excuse!"]
