Chapter 108 What My Wife Says, I Dare Not Disobey (Part Two)

Qiao Nansheng glanced at the script and discovered that Qingniang's role was described as a third concubine, not even a third female lead, yet her screen time was almost the same as the female lead's.

When others see this script, they might choose the lead or supporting lead roles. They feel that only by being the lead can they attract more attention. They never look at the amount of screen time or consider the character from the perspective of a reader or viewer.

Unfortunately, from the audience's perspective, the character Qingniang is the one who leaves the most unfulfilled, and whenever people think back on her, the first character that comes to mind is definitely Qingniang.

Qiao Nansheng read very slowly. The script was quite long, and she flipped through it repeatedly, looking for the most exciting parts. The more she read, the more she liked it.

Zhou Cheng sat beside her, observing her expression. When he saw her furrowed brows relax and she reveal a joyful and satisfied look, he knew that she must have chosen the role.

"How do you feel?" he asked.

"Hmm, not bad. The role of Qingniang is fine," Qiao Nansheng said, glancing up at him. "You really intend to let me play this role?"

“I’ve already shown you the script, how could it be fake?” Zhou Cheng retorted.

“But I have no acting skills.” Qiao Nansheng shrugged. “Besides, I’m just a newbie who just entered the industry. No, I haven’t even entered the industry yet. I’m just participating in a talent show. I can only be considered to have officially entered the entertainment industry after I debut, right? If I start acting before I’m even in the industry, and other people find out, wouldn’t that be blatantly taking advantage of connections?”

Zhou Cheng: "With me here, who dares to say anything to you?"

"..." Oh, so you're going to play the domineering CEO again?

"You might as well just announce our relationship and say I'm your wife," Qiao Nansheng said casually.

"That's exactly what I was thinking." The man nodded seriously, then picked up his phone, opened Weibo, and said, "I'll post an announcement right now."

"No, no, no, big brother, I was just joking." Qiao Nansheng quickly rushed over to stop him. "I was just saying, just kidding, are you really going to announce it?"

Zhou Cheng remained serious: "I dare not disobey my wife."

"..."

She pouted, "I've never seen you this obedient before."

He wouldn't let go when I told him to, but now he's suddenly so eager and obedient when it comes to announcing their relationship. But why did he suddenly agree to announce their relationship? Isn't he afraid of losing fans and being criticized?

Glancing at the man, Qiao Nansheng noticed his calm expression. She blinked and suddenly realized that he was saying this because he knew she wouldn't actually let him announce it.

Ha, men!

She felt a chilling sarcasm in her heart, but outwardly said, "Hmm, let me take another look."

"Okay." Zhou Cheng nodded.

Qiao Nansheng was reading the script, and he sat next to her watching her, his eyes glued to her, never looking away.

At first, Qiao Nansheng could focus on reading the script, but as time went on, she felt that something was wrong.

She looked up and saw the man sitting on the sofa with his legs crossed, leaning against the side with one hand supporting his cheek, looking at her leisurely. His long, narrow phoenix eyes were filled with tenderness and smiles, and the corners of his lips were slightly upturned, revealing a faint smile.

"..."

Qiao Nansheng blushed inexplicably at being looked at like that.

She shifted awkwardly to the side, coughed lightly, and said, "Um, Zhou Cheng, it's getting late, you should rest."

Upon hearing this, the man raised his hand to check his watch, nodded in agreement, and said, "It's getting late, shall we go upstairs to sleep together?"

How could he say it so naturally...?

“I mean, you went to an event during the day and only came back at night. You must be tired. It’s so late, you should go and rest,” Qiao Nansheng explained with a smile.

Zhou Cheng laughed along with her, raising an eyebrow and asking, "Aren't you going to sleep?"

She nodded vigorously. "I took a nap! I didn't wake up until after five o'clock, and I'm not sleepy at all now. I'll read the script for a while, and then I'll give you an answer. Don't worry, I will never tell anyone about the script, and I will never look through your phone!"

She even swore an oath, "I promise I won't look at your messages indiscriminately. If I do, may I be struck by lightning! May I be struck by lightning!"

As if on cue, a muffled clap of thunder suddenly boomed outside the window, followed by flashes of white light across the dark sky—lightning.

Qiao Nansheng: "..." Holy crap!

Is this really necessary? She was just saying it casually, she just wanted him to go upstairs!

His staring at her made her feel strangely uncomfortable all over.

Zhou Cheng noticed that her face turned pale after hearing the rumble of thunder, her eyes filled with terror as she stared wide-eyed out the window. He guessed that she must be cursing and venting her frustrations in her mind right now.

"What, are you scared? Didn't you make the oath yourself?" Zhou Cheng asked, pretending to know nothing.

Qiao Nansheng chuckled dryly, "Yes, yes, you should go upstairs and go to sleep! I'll come up after I finish reading the script."

The script was over a thousand pages long, and she read it slowly. She was destined not to finish it tonight, and not only tonight, but tomorrow and the day after. She was just making an excuse to send him upstairs.

Zhou Cheng could certainly guess it.

He smiled at Qiao Nansheng and said, "Okay."

He then stood up, staring intently at her, and said, "Nan Sheng, come up early too. Don't stay up too late; staying up late will cause acne and make your skin worse."

She loves beauty the most.

Upon hearing this, Qiao Nansheng quickly reached out and touched her face. Her skin was still smooth and without any pimples. She breathed a sigh of relief and nodded, saying, "Okay, I'll come up when I'm sleepy."

The implication was that she wouldn't go up unless she was trapped.

Zhou Cheng raised an eyebrow again, but said nothing more, and turned to walk towards the stairs.

As Qiao Nansheng watched his figure recede into the distance, her smile grew wider and wider. She thought to herself: Once Zhou Cheng is gone, she can look at him however she wants in the living room, whether she's lying down, prone, or upside down!

God knows her legs went numb after sitting in that position for hours watching variety shows, but with him next to her, she couldn't move around too much.

As a result, Zhou Cheng, who had already climbed two steps to the top of the stairs, suddenly stopped and turned to look at her.

The next second, the man who was supposed to go upstairs to rest turned around and walked back the way he came.

Qiao Nansheng's smile froze. "Why are you back? Go upstairs and go to sleep."

"I forgot to take something," Zhou Cheng said calmly, walking up to her and leaning closer.

His sudden approach startled Qiao Nansheng, causing her to lean back.

As the man's face drew closer, her heart raced, and she stammered, "Wh-what?!"

Zhou Cheng quickly reached out and blocked the back of her head on the sofa, and Qiao Nansheng bumped into the back of his hand.

He groaned, probably because it hurt.

She remained motionless, her large eyes fixed on him.
