Chapter 120 Slow down, be careful not to fall (Part 4)

Qiao Nansheng nodded frantically in her heart, but obediently said on the surface, "I'll talk, I'll talk. I was planning to act first and tell you later, after my debut, but Grandpa, you know now, so I don't need to tell you anymore, right?"

Why did you enter the entertainment industry?

Qiao Nansheng glanced at Zhou Cheng and thought to himself, "Sorry, brother, I have no choice but to sell you."

“Zhou Cheng is always out flirting with other women. I can’t stand it. It’s so unfair. He’s having affairs with other actresses and rumors with them. I feel wronged and I want to…”

As Qiao Nansheng continued spouting nonsense, Zhou Cheng's expression gradually darkened.

He knew that this woman had only entered the industry because she was attracted to Han Ye's face. Even if it wasn't Han Ye's face that attracted her, there were other handsome men's faces.

She married him but still thought about other men.

Is it because he's not handsome enough?

That's impossible. If he weren't handsome, would he be called the nation's husband by female fans all over the world?

So, she's always looking for more than she has!

Zhou Cheng clenched his fist, his dark, deep eyes staring coldly at Qiao Nansheng.

She sat there, facing the combined gazes of the old man and Zhou Cheng, her hands trembling with nervousness. Oh no, she seemed to have said something wrong and angered Zhou Cheng. As for the old man... she hadn't managed to appease him; instead, he was even angrier.

A bad feeling suddenly rose in Qiao Nansheng's heart.

The old man raised his hand and struck Zhou Cheng on the back with his cane without any mercy. Qiao Nansheng could even hear the sound of the cane hitting bone, which was very clear.

That must have hurt so much!

Zhou Cheng sat there silently, staring at her with a fierce gaze, as if he wanted to skin her alive.

Qiao Nansheng's palms were sweating from his staring. Seeing the old man raise his hand to strike again, she rushed over and hugged Zhou Cheng. "Grandpa, please stop! To be honest, it has nothing to do with Zhou Cheng. I wanted to go in myself."

Grandpa Zhou narrowed his eyes, looking at his grandson who was being held by Qiao Nansheng, and raised an eyebrow: "Was I helpful enough? Nansheng has already taken the initiative to throw herself into your arms."

Zhou Cheng stared at the old man expressionlessly: "If you hit me with that stick, I'd be half dead. What can I do? You might as well not help at all!"

After exchanging glances for a while, Grandpa Zhou got back to the point and became serious again, saying, "I didn't agree when you told me the other day that you wanted to enter the entertainment industry. The entertainment industry is too murky, and Zhou Cheng knows how dirty it is. I'm not saying everyone is dirty, but what if you, as a girl, encounter those unspoken rules if you go in?"

“Nan Sheng, you are already married and are the granddaughter-in-law of the Zhou family. You are no longer a child who has not yet grown up. You can no longer be as willful as before. You must think twice before you do anything and consider the consequences.”

“The Zhou family is a large family. It’s enough for one person in the entertainment industry. If you also enter the industry, what will other major families think of the Zhou family if they find out that my granddaughter-in-law is also an actress?”

The old man's words were quite harsh, directly bringing up the term "actor," which shows how angry he was.

Zhou Cheng frowned slightly and subconsciously looked at Qiao Nansheng. He then realized that she was still on top of him and hadn't gotten up, so he reached out to pull her up.

Qiao Nansheng straightened up, and when she saw him looking over, she quickly asked in a low voice, "Are you alright?"

"It hurts," Zhou Cheng said bluntly. "It hit the bone."

She immediately felt uneasy and guilty.

"I'm sorry," she apologized softly. "I'll help you apply the medicine when we get back."

"Okay." Zhou Cheng nodded.

The old man tapped his cane and coughed heavily: "Answer my question first! We'll talk about other things later."

Qiao Nansheng turned to look at the old man, thought for a moment, and said, "Grandpa, shall we go to the study to talk?"

There are some things that can't be said in front of Zhou Cheng. She naturally knew that Zhou Cheng's presence would only intensify the old man's anger, and in doing so, he was also helping Zhou Cheng.

The old man was very thoughtful, but unfortunately, she wasn't buying it.

The guilt she felt from that blow was enough to make her understand a lot in an instant.

No matter how angry Grandpa Zhou was about her joining the entertainment industry, he wouldn't really hurt his own grandson. The only explanation is that he was helping Zhou Cheng and wanted to make her feel sorry for him, thus improving their marital relationship.

It might work on Qiao Nansheng, but it wouldn't be very effective on herself. She would feel guilty and heartbroken, but that would be all; she wouldn't fall for Zhou Cheng because of it.

“Alright!” Old Master Zhou stood up, glanced at his grandson without looking to the side, and then turned and walked upstairs.

Qiao Nansheng followed closely behind him and climbed up.

Zhou Cheng stood up and took two steps when Qiao Nansheng turned around and said, "You stay downstairs. I'll be down soon after I finish talking to Grandpa."

He didn't speak, but looked at the old man in front of him. Seeing that the old man nodded, he didn't follow any further.

Qiao Nansheng had a long talk with the old man in the study upstairs.

Zhou Cheng wanted to eavesdrop several times during this period, but he resisted the urge each time.

The tea on the coffee table had been changed three times. The process of hot tea getting cold is very long. He waited at least an hour before he saw Qiao Nansheng come downstairs.

The old man walked behind her, swaying slowly, his face showing neither anger nor joy.

"Let's go back." Qiao Nansheng said to Zhou Cheng as she walked over, picked up her bag from the sofa, nodded and smiled at Grandpa Zhou, and then walked out.

Zhou Cheng frowned, glanced at her, then at Old Master Zhou, before taking a step to follow.

The two left the Zhou family home one after the other. As if knowing they would return, Sheng Zhuo didn't drive away. Once they got in the car, Zhou Cheng couldn't wait to ask, "What did you say to Grandpa?"

The fact that the old man didn't show anger or joy on his face meant that Qiao Nansheng's conversation with him went well.

Zhou Cheng wanted to know what she had said to the old man that could calm him down.

"It's a secret," Qiao Nansheng said mysteriously. "Once it's out, it won't be a secret anymore. Anyway, Grandpa isn't angry anymore, and he even agreed to let me enter the entertainment industry, saying he'll support me."

Zhou Cheng: "..."

So he was even more curious about what they were saying.

You should know that when he first entered the entertainment industry, his grandfather was so angry that he severed ties with him and kicked him out of the Zhou family. Later, after his anger subsided, his grandfather called him back to the Zhou family.

I got home around 7 p.m., and there was some traffic on the way.

Qiao Nansheng was still thinking about how Old Master Zhou had hit him on the back with a stick, so after getting out of the car, she quickly went into the living room to find the first-aid kit in the storage room.

When Zhou Cheng arrived, she hurriedly pulled him upstairs.

"Walk slowly, be careful not to fall," Zhou Cheng reminded her.

"Um."
