"You keep staring at me today, did I do something wrong?"
Every time Han Xiaoxing made a mistake at home, she would pretend that she hadn't done it, and her uncle would look at her frequently like this, and then she would confess without being asked.
This morning, Qiao Nansheng kept glancing at her like this, and Han Xiaoxing thought she must have done something wrong to provoke her like this.
"No."
Unexpectedly, Qiao Nansheng was caught spying on the child, and she felt inexplicably embarrassed. Fortunately, the room was dark and the lights were off, so the blush on her face could not be seen.
She replied to Han Xiaoxing in a similarly soft voice, "Xiaoxing is very cute. The teacher likes you, so I look at you a few more times."
"Ah..." The girl was completely taken aback by the sudden 'confession,' staring blankly at Qiao Nansheng, her eyes glistening with tears. After a long while, she stammered, "I... I also like Teacher Qiao. Teacher Qiao is the most beautiful teacher I've ever seen..."
Qiao Nansheng couldn't help but laugh, reaching out to touch her little face, "The other children are all asleep, you should go to sleep too, good afternoon."
Han Xiaoxing: "Good afternoon!"
After saying that, she closed her eyes, then opened them again a moment later, her eyes sparkling as she looked at Qiao Nansheng, who was still there. "Teacher Qiao, could you come a little closer?"
She thought Han Xiaoxing had something to tell her, so she leaned closer, only to see the girl sit up, stretch her head towards her, pout and kiss her cheek, then quickly retreat back into the covers, hiding like a turtle.
Qiao Nansheng was stunned for a moment, then reached out and touched the spot where she had been kissed. The soft touch carried a hint of milky fragrance.
She looked at the little bundle curled up in the blankets, smiled silently, and turned to leave.
Snap.
As they passed the door, Han Xiaoxing, who had been hiding under the covers, slowly peeked out, overjoyed as she thought about Qiao Nansheng's "confession" to her earlier.
Teacher Qiao is so gentle and beautiful. I wish I could be her aunt.
It's a pity that my uncle seems a bit dim-witted. Teacher Qiao is so smart; it wouldn't be good if she caught his stupidity while she was with him.
…
At 4:30 p.m., it was time to let out for school. Qiao Nansheng led more than 20 children in her class to the school gate to wait for their parents to pick them up.
Almost all the children in the class had been picked up by their parents, except for Han Xiaoxing, who hadn't been picked up yet. The little girl stood quietly beside her, behaving very well.
Thinking of Han Ye, Qiao Nansheng couldn't help but ask her, "Did your uncle say when he would come to pick you up?"
Han Ye hadn't picked her up in the past few days, but he did today. She thought he would pick her up in the evening too, but Han Xiaoxing shook her head and said, "Uncle just dropped me off on his way this morning. Usually, it's the driver who picks me up."
She glanced down at the time on her smartwatch, her head bowed. "There must be traffic. They'll be here soon."
"Where are your parents? Aren't they coming?" Qiao Nansheng recalled that she had indeed seen a man pick her up over the past month. He was very polite to Han Xiaoxing and didn't seem like her parents.
After Qiao Nansheng asked the question, he didn't hear a response for a long time. He looked down and saw that the little girl's shoulders were trembling slightly and she was sniffling, as if she was crying.
She quickly crouched down to look, and sure enough, Han Xiaoxing was crying, big golden tears streaming down her face. Qiao Nansheng was also stunned by her sudden crying, not knowing why she had suddenly started crying when she had been perfectly fine just moments before.
