Qiao Nansheng: "..."
I suddenly felt guilty.
She coughed lightly and said, "Did I really block you? I didn't know that. Let me check first."
She picked up her phone with her left hand and discovered that Zhou Cheng had indeed been blocked by her. When had she blocked him? She thought for a moment…
It seems like it was the night she injured her hand that she texted him crying, but no one replied. Although she didn't really want Zhou Cheng's concern, the feeling of being ignored was unpleasant. Coupled with being neglected for several days in a row, she lost her temper and blocked Zhou Cheng in a fit of anger.
"You remember now?" came the man's cold voice.
"Ahem... Well, I'll release you now, don't rush me." Qiao Nansheng said, slowly clicking into the details and releasing him.
His long string of caring words that he had sent earlier suddenly popped up and caught her eye.
Qiao Nansheng glanced at it and clicked her tongue: "Oh, you care about me so much."
"Take a picture," he urged. "Let me see how your hand is now."
"Even if I take a picture, you can't see it; the bandages aren't removed yet," Qiao Nansheng said, taking a picture of her right hand and sending it to him. "Sent it. Take a look. What can you see?"
She goes to the hospital to change her gauze every day; it was just changed today, and the gauze is brand new.
Zhou Cheng stared at the photo, but he really couldn't make out anything.
"I'll be right back." Seeing that it was still early, he immediately bought a return ticket.
As Zhou Cheng packed his things, he spoke to her in a gloomy tone: "What are you trying to prove by fighting someone? Catching a knife with your bare hands, you think you're so tough? Do you think you're invincible? Luckily, the other person was a woman. If it had been a man, do you know how dangerous it would have been? Do you think you're invulnerable?"
"..."
Qiao Nansheng, who had already heard both sets of parents and the old man say it several times, put down her phone and let him keep going on and on.
She felt like her ears were about to fall off.
"Qiao Nansheng, did you hear me?" There was no response from the other end, and Zhou Cheng's anger suddenly flared up. "Don't do that again. Do you know how worried I am about you?"
God knows, the moment he saw her holding the knife in the video, his heart jumped into his throat, fearing that the woman would pull the knife out and stab him somewhere else.
Qiao Nansheng lazily hummed in agreement: "Okay, okay. Is there anything else? If not, I'm hanging up."
"Don't hang up!" came the man's irritable voice. "You're so dismissive; did you even listen to what I just said?"
"Then how do you want me to reply? Oh, okay, brother, I understand, I promise I won't do it again next time!" Qiao Nansheng said in a high-pitched voice, making herself look disgusting, and then added, "Are you satisfied now, brother?"
"..." Zhou Cheng was speechless for a moment, not knowing whether he was angry at her or stunned by her tone and words.
Qiao Nansheng sat up, abandoning her previous demeanor, and said to the phone with a serious expression, "The main reason was that the situation was urgent at the time. If I hadn't done this, the child would have been gone. You've seen the video, right? That trafficker wasn't going to show any mercy. It would have really been a matter of life and death. Did you expect me to just watch a life be lost right in front of me?"
"At most, I'll get injured, but I won't die. The child will be fine, and I'll even send that person to jail. Isn't that a good deal?"
