Chapter 4: Husband...
The air conditioner was blasting loudly in the large classroom where Introduction to Literature was taught.
As soon as the young female teacher announced the end of class, the class monitor rushed onto the podium with his cell phone.
"Brothers and sisters! Let's create a class group and scan it. Also, the counselor has been officially decided. It's Professor Yan Ke."
There was a sudden burst of low wailing and discussion from below.
"Professor Yan Ke?"
The female teacher, who had just packed up her lesson plans and was about to leave, paused, turned around, smiled, and teased, "You're lucky this class. Professor Yan rarely teaches undergraduate classes in person."
The students seemed to have foreseen the miserable life of having difficulty taking leave and dying from skipping classes in the next four years, and their wails became louder.
Pei Heng had no interest in this kind of group activity and was tapping his head on the tablet.
Next to him, Shen Shi moved quickly, arranging the books neatly, his eyes never leaving Pei Heng.
The pretty girl in the front row blushed slightly, clutching her cell phone. She mustered up the courage to walk through several rows of seats and stopped by Pei Heng's table.
"Classmate Pei Heng, um..." She said in a clear voice with a slightly embarrassed smile, "Can you add me on WeChat? It will be convenient for future course exchanges..."
Pei Heng raised his eyes and was about to say no, but before he could say anything, his shoulders suddenly sank.
A refreshing and pleasant scent approached, and Shen Shi had leaned forward slightly without knowing when, resting his chin lightly on Pei Heng's shoulder, half of his body weight leaning lazily over.
He turned his face to the side and glanced at the girl indifferently without any expression.
"Husband." The ambiguous name was about to come out of his thin lips.
Pei Heng raised his hand and covered Shen Shi's mouth almost as a reflex.
The last word was blocked abruptly.
"Chen Shi." Pei Heng lowered his voice, the corners of his mouth drooping with a hint of warning.
I could feel Shen Shi's warm breath in my palm, and the touch of his soft, wet lips.
Pei Heng couldn't help but curl his fingers.
So soft.
Even with his mouth covered, Shen Shi did not struggle. He blinked his eyes slightly with the corners of his eyes raised, and rubbed them twice on Pei Heng's palm.
“…Okay.”
A muffled voice came from under Pei Heng's palm, sounding unusually obedient.
The girl looked at Pei Heng's hand covering Shen Shi's mouth, and then looked at Shen Shi leaning on Pei Heng's shoulder with a slightly aggrieved look, and instantly understood something.
She chuckled and waved her hand, "Oh, I understand! Sorry to bother you!" After that, she turned around and walked away with light steps.
The classroom was noisy and no one paid special attention to the episode in this small corner.
Pei Heng waited until the girl walked away before slowly releasing his hand that was covering Shen Shi.
The palm of my hand still retains the warmth of the other person's breath and the slight itch of his eyelashes.
Pei Heng pulled his hand back and glared at Shen Shi unhappily.
"You did it on purpose."
Shen Shi still leaned on Pei Heng's shoulder, his posture unchanged, and he looked up at him with a straightforward and hot expression.
"Well, I don't like people getting close to you."
Pei Heng's heart stagnated when he was looked at by him, and he frowned and said seriously: "I don't like you, we are just roommates."
“It’s okay.” Shen Shi’s voice was very light.
He lowered his head and quickly and gently placed a kiss on the back of Pei Heng's hand before he could completely withdraw it.
It feels soft to the touch, yet has a slight electric sensation.
Pei Heng suddenly retracted his hand, as if burned, and turned his back, leaving only Shen Shi's slightly angry back of the head and the slightly red tips of his ears.
Shen Shi is really not reserved at all.
He scratched the ends of his hair irritably, his heart beating a few beats faster in his chest.
I can't figure out where that inexplicable emotion comes from.
—
Because of the dispute with Liao Dong, Liao Dong, who had some background in the college, still did not let Pei Heng go, and deliberately spread rumors that Pei Heng had found people in society to intimidate and threaten him.
Zhou Jingming accompanied Pei Heng to the Zhixun Building, muttering, "Don't be angry, don't be angry. I'll go up with you. Let's see what tricks that idiot can come up with!"
Less than two months after school started, he was called by the counselor because of a guy like Liao Dong. Zhou Jingming felt sorry for Pei Heng.
There was no anger on Pei Heng's face, and he patted Zhou Jingming on the shoulder.
"I'll treat you to dinner tonight."
As soon as I walked to the office door, I heard Liao Dong shouting in a crying voice.
"...It's Pei Heng and his roommate, Chen Shi! They threatened me! They almost hit me! Uncle, you have to take charge of this for me!"
Another middle-aged man's voice, with a hint of deliberately suppressed but uncontrollable urgency, said into the phone: "...Mr. Yan, I rarely ask you for anything, but this has a very bad impact. He just entered university and it's like this. What will happen in the future? It's really harmful to social morals..."
Pei Heng paused, raised his eyebrows slightly, and understood.
Oh, it turns out that Sha Mao’s uncle is Associate Professor Liao.
Zhou Jingming was so angry that he wanted to curse, but was stopped by Pei Heng's eyes.
Pei Heng raised his hand and knocked on the door three times, neither lightly nor heavily.
The sound inside stopped abruptly.
After a while, the door opened and Associate Professor Liao stood behind it. He glanced at them with a displeased look on his face and hung up the phone. "Come in."
There were several other teachers in the office.
Liao Dong stood next to Liao Yong, his eyes red. When he saw Pei Heng come in, he immediately became excited and pointed at him and shouted, "That's him! And that Chen Shi!"
Liao Yong cleared his throat and assumed the authority of a teacher. "Student Pei Heng, we have retrieved the surveillance footage from Lanshanju on that day."
"Surveillance footage shows that you and your roommate Shen Shi verbally threatened Liao Dong, and your other two roommates, Zhou Jingming and Chen Yu, physically restrained him."
"Does Pei admit this?"
Pei Heng stood there, his posture upright, his expression calm, even a little lazy.
He met Liao Yong's gaze, and the corners of his mouth twitched upwards ever so slightly. The arc was very subtle, but it was a bit indescribably irritating.
"Yes." Pei Heng answered decisively.
"Listen! He admitted it! He admitted it!" Liao Dong immediately became excited, as if he had caught something.
Liao Yong's tone grew graver. "Then do you understand that violently threatening classmates and rallying others to attack them is extremely egregious and punishable by expulsion?"
"Drop out of school?" Zhou Jingming was anxious. Just as he was about to speak, Pei Heng raised his hand to stop him.
Pei Heng's gaze fell on Liao Yong's face and he pretended to think for five seconds, "If I do this, I can be expelled from school?"
"Of course!" Liao Yong said firmly.
"Oh." Pei Heng responded, took out his mobile phone from his pocket, tapped the screen a few times with his fingertips, called up a video, and then turned the phone screen to Liao Yong and other teachers in the office.
What was playing on the screen was obviously another surveillance video.
