Chapter 29: Going through thick and thin
The Earl of Gongning's Mansion.
Nangong Jiayu once again "risked his life" to find the uncle he feared the most.
"What are you doing here again?" Nangong Hua put down the paintbrush in his hand and looked at the little kid unhappily.
Nangong Jiayu brought a small box of candied fruit, but when she turned around, she found that there was already a box on his table. "Is this from my aunt for my uncle? My aunt always thinks of my uncle."
"Uncle, my aunt frowned today. Something must have made her unhappy! I talked to her on the way, but she didn't hear me several times."
"Uncle, Auntie said she seemed to be looking for someone... Does Uncle know?"
Hearing this brat showing off his close relationship with his wife, Nangong Hua felt so angry that his teeth were itching.
He stood up, walked a few steps to the brat, and snatched the candied fruit from his hand. "How's your homework going? Go write a hundred big characters. If you don't finish, you won't be able to sleep tonight! I'll ask Qingxu to check it later!"
"..." Nangong Jiayu saw his indifferent attitude and rebelled, "Write it!"
After sending his evil nephew away, Nangong Hua looked at the two boxes of preserved fruits in his hand.
He suddenly remembered that he had eaten the cake last time and said he didn't like it, so he asked his wife not to worry about it in the future. He just didn't expect his wife to take care of such a trivial matter and when did she replace the preserved fruit for him.
Madam, are you looking for someone?
Nangong Hua frowned and decided to go and see if there was anyone he could help with.
Pu Qiongzhi was currently flipping through the storybook Yan'er had found for her.
"My lady, this book is ridiculous! It says that someone came back to life and lived a new life." Yan'er couldn't help but tell her how fresh this book was.
"Did she do anything that benefited the country and the people and moved God?" Pu Qiongzhi asked casually while flipping through the book.
Hearing his wife's words, Yan'er was dumbfounded, "No."
"If she were to live her life again, would anything change? Or does she have some extraordinary qualities?" Pu Qiongzhi asked again.
Everything in the world can be traded, and there is always a value to measure. Only when both payment and goods are settled can one feel at ease.
Yan'er opened her mouth, unsure what to say. "God has blessed her with a second chance at life. She has won back her husband's heart and lives a happy life..."
Pu Qiongzhi glanced at it casually without commenting, and then ordered, "Send it to Shopkeeper Qiao."
"Madam, you are not going to ask Manager Qiao to draw ideas from it to make rouge and powder, are you?" Yan'er was a little surprised.
Shopkeeper Qiao could still understand some of the usual stories of strange and supernatural beings, such as the Bixia Fairy, the Peach Blossom Demon, and the Moon Goddess. But this story of resurrection was simply too bizarre... and somewhat difficult to follow.
"First, have Shopkeeper Qiao buy all the books from the bookstore and tell the bookstore that he will cover all subsequent sales of this book. This will serve as a gift to the customers."
"Who wrote this book?" Pu Qiongzhi asked casually, "He has a good business sense."
"This book was written by a gentleman named Bixulang. I read it to chat with the maids of these wealthy families." Yan'er explained.
Pu Qiongzhi picked up the tea and took a sip, her tone somewhat intriguing, "Bixulang, bamboo."
"Most of these people who pride themselves on their high moral character think that merchants are vulgar and shallow, and are obsessed with money." Chunjing couldn't help but make up a sentence.
Scholars, farmers, merchants, and artisans. All other things are inferior, only reading is superior.
Although the Pu family was wealthy, they were merchants of the lowest class and had always been looked down upon by these scholars.
Yan'er nodded. "That's unknown to me, Yan'er. However, this storybook is full of stories about large mansions, with many young ladies becoming concubines to the same man. Although it doesn't mention royal relatives, whose family could afford such a grand occasion?"
"Let me take a look at it later and make a plan." Pu Qiongzhi felt that it was inappropriate and asked her to put it aside for the time being.
Nangong Hua walked in and saw her with her brows lowered, wondering what she was thinking about.
"Madam, how is business lately?" He was inexplicably nervous and didn't know what to say.
Pu Qiongzhi was stunned when she saw him come in, then she said, "So it's the uncle who came. Look at me, I didn't even notice."
"Don't worry, my Lord. I can handle the business matters. You don't have to worry about it."
Nangong Hua paused, looking at her impeccable smile, and was certain that she was lying to him.
This is understandable. After all, in the eyes of the lady, he is just a good-for-nothing playboy.
"I've always been hanging around these idle places, where all sorts of people come together. If you have anything to say, you might as well tell me."
Thinking that he had helped the Ninth Prince to find out a lot of information in his previous life, maybe he could help her find the person.
Hearing what he said, it seemed like he knew something. Pu Qiongzhi thought it would be okay to tell him, so she just said a few words to him.
When Nangong Hua heard that she was looking for Han Suzi, he was silent for a moment, with mixed emotions.
Hansuzi...another name for snow. Isn't that the nickname the third brother uses outside? It can't be such a coincidence.
"I just don't know who this master is..." Pu Qiongzhi shook her head with some regret. Seeing his puzzled expression, she thought he was upset because of the loss of face, so she comforted him, "The great hermit lives in seclusion in the city. I'm afraid such a person is not easy to find. However, this Master Zhang is also good, so don't worry, husband."
"No." Nangong Hua shook his head. "I might, maybe, recognize this person."
Pu Qiongzhi was a little surprised. "My Lord, you actually know such a skilled craftsman? But, would you be willing to introduce him to me?"
"Of course it is convenient. You know this person. He is my Sanlang." Nangong Hua did not keep her in suspense and told her immediately.
Pu Qiongzhi paused, not reacting, "What?"
She was lost in thought for a moment, blinking her eyes, "After searching high and low for something, I finally found it without any effort."
"I didn't expect that the Third Young Master would have such amazing talent!" she sighed.
Nangong Hua hummed and explained, "The Nangong family has been a family of talented generals for generations, but my third brother just loves to mess around with these things, causing my father to repeatedly scold him for not doing his job properly and bringing misfortune to the family."
"There is more than one way to revitalize a country. If you have thousands of mansions, the third young master can build cities and houses. How can you say that he is not doing his job properly?" Pu Qiongzhi saw that he looked a little sad, so she comforted him.
Nangong Hua gazed at her gentle face, his heart filled with warmth and tenderness.
In his previous life, he had only witnessed her graceful demeanor as she counseled the Ninth Prince, and he had been captivated by her wisdom. Later, he gradually heard from the Ninth Prince about her thoughtfulness and gentleness, which made him uncontrollably admire this woman.
But now, after spending time with her, he realized that she was even better than the Ninth Prince had said...
Pu Qiongzhi didn't notice any difference in his expression.
She was thinking about how to make Nangong Xue willingly draw the blueprints for her.
