Chapter 33: Picking Stars with Your Hands
Nangong Xue drank a few glasses of wine.
He pulled his brothers aside and started chatting with them.
Pu Qiongzhi didn't think there was anything wrong with the young man's behavior, and just listened with a smile.
"I want to build the tallest building, right in the capital," he muttered.
The brother next to him was also a little drunk, "Let me ask you, how high should this building be built?"
"So high... straight into the sky! I want to see all the other buildings down!" He stretched out two fingers to the window.
The crowd seemed to be able to see what was happening and they all applauded.
Seeing everyone so supportive, Nangong Xue smiled a little embarrassedly.
But this joke was half true and half false.
He has been fascinated by architecture and astronomy since childhood.
I dream of building a building where, as the poem says, “I can pick the stars with my hands.”
As he spoke, he walked to the window and lowered his head.
A man staggered and fell down in the middle of the street.
"!!!" He shook his confused head and looked carefully with wide eyes.
There is indeed one person.
"Sister-in-law! There seems to be someone collapsed in front of the Ruilou gate..."
The first thing he thought of was whether such an incident would affect Pu Qiongzhi's business.
Pu Qiongzhi stood up and looked at the person lying on the ground downstairs, squinting her eyes to observe.
Soon, the servants from Ruilou and Qiao, the head clerk, went out to check the situation.
Pu Qiongzhi looked at the man and felt that he did not seem to be faking it. It must be a coincidence that he fell here.
"Sister-in-law, don't you want to go down and take a look?" Nangong Xue admired her for not changing her expression.
Pu Qiongzhi said, "If I have to handle everything, then wouldn't my position as the head of the Pu family be in vain?"
After a while, several more servants came out and went in different directions.
"What is this for?" Nangong Hua was puzzled.
Pu Qiongzhi smiled, "You'll know in a moment."
Within a few moments, a servant came to deliver a message.
Yan'er led the person in.
"My dear, someone has fainted downstairs. The headmaster has already sent for a doctor and reported the incident to the authorities. I'm just here to let you know. Don't worry, Headmaster Qiao will take care of it."
He explained the situation clearly in a few words, and Pu Qiongzhi nodded, "You guys go ahead and do your work."
Nangong Xue was dumbfounded by this process. "It's so skillful, it's like I've seen it a thousand times."
"How do you know they haven't encountered it?" Pu Qiongzhi asked back.
Nangong Xue blinked her eyes. That's what happened.
Everyone still eats and drinks as usual.
Pu Qiongzhi then asked, "Do you have a fixed team?"
"We are all old friends and know each other very well. There is no team. We all live nearby and will be here as soon as we call each other," said one of the square-faced craftsmen.
Pu Qiongzhi remembered him, his name was Zhou Zheng, and he was the strongest and most careful craftsman in the team.
"Once you have a team, you have to make some calculations, and no one wants to make such hassles," Nangong Xue explained.
Pu Qiongzhi understood that they were unwilling to ruin their years of friendship because of these things.
"If you have a team, you will have more business and customers will trust you more. If you make your name known, there will definitely be many people asking you to come to their homes to design landscapes and build buildings!" she explained.
Nangong Xue listened to her story and seemed to want to take charge of the matter. "Sister-in-law, do you have any good suggestions?"
"If you are willing to take the lead, I can find someone to handle the process for you later." Pu Qiongzhi explained her plan.
Nangong Xue hesitated for a moment and looked back at everyone, wanting to hear their opinions.
Everyone looked at each other, and no one knew what to do better.
"Uncle San, you've known everyone for a long time. You can draw blueprints, and everyone works well with you. If you take the lead, they'll follow you and trust each other."
Everyone nodded, expressing their agreement that Nangong Xue should be their leader.
Nangong Xue naturally hoped so in her heart.
He needs big guys to build his buildings, but these people are his cherished partners, and they also need to support their families.
He wants to lead everyone to pursue the highest attainments, but he also hopes that they can have a good future.
"I am a lazy person who doesn't know how to work. Since my sister-in-law is willing to take care of me, I am naturally happy to do so."
Seeing that he had this intention, Pu Qiongzhi smiled with satisfaction.
"This is easy to handle. I own many shops in the Pu family, and I am very familiar with the process."
"But... business is business. Nothing's going to happen for free!"
"I'll tell them that you're independent from the Pu family, but...if the Pu family wants to use your building, you have to give priority to the Pu family."
Pu Qiongzhi put forward the conditions for her help.
"Of course! You are my sister-in-law! As long as you need something, I will do it without hesitation!" Nangong Xue promised with gritted teeth.
Everyone was chatting animatedly when someone knocked on the door.
"What's the matter?" Pu Qiongzhi frowned when she saw that Qiao, the head clerk, had come up in person. "Is it something very difficult?"
"Is the person still breathing? If not, then the coroner and the doctor will come together... or is there something wrong with the person's identity?"
Qiao nodded, put his palm to his mouth and whispered, "It's the son of the Earl of Gongning's mansion."
"Hmm? Who is it from the Earl of Gongning's Mansion..." Pu Qiongzhi turned around and looked at Nangong Xue.
Nangong Xue also looked confused.
The two confused people could only follow Qiao Zhangshi downstairs to find out what was going on.
…
“…” Nangong Xue looked at the person lying on the ground.
He walked around and around, smacking his lips, "Tsk tsk tsk tsk...ah...tsk..."

"Uncle San, do you know this person?" Pu Qiongzhi was surprised to see his reaction.
Nangong Xue said helplessly, "Sister-in-law, you haven't met him yet. This is my youngest brother, Nangong Yue."
"Ah..." Pu Qiongzhi stopped where she was.
How could she forget that the Nangong family has four brothers and two sisters...
My eldest brother died in the war, my husband is the second oldest, and we still have my third uncle, fourth uncle, eldest aunt, and youngest aunt!
"Someone come quickly, move the Fourth Young Master to the side room to rest."
Pu Qiongzhi instructed everyone to handle the matter, and explained to the detectives who came to handle the case that they were all family members and it was a misunderstanding.
Since they had made such a long trip in vain, they had no choice but to give them some money and treat everyone to a drink.
After sending these people away, Pu Qiongzhi asked Nangong Xue about the reason.
"What's wrong with Fourth Uncle? What's wrong?"
Nangong Xue shrugged, "It's purely his own problem. I don't know what's wrong with this guy, he just won't eat properly."
"Back when he was at home, he was always picky about his meals and was often beaten by my father. In order to get him to eat well, my mother tortured him a lot... starving him, giving him acupuncture, taking herbal baths..."
"Then why haven't I seen Fourth Uncle walking around the house?" Pu Qiongzhi still felt strange.
Speaking of this, Nangong Xue was even more speechless, "About seven years ago, this kid went with my mother to worship Buddha..."
"We went there at the right time, and it happened to rain heavily that day, so my mother took him to stay in the temple for a day."
"I don't know what's wrong with that brat. He tried the vegetarian food in the temple and ate two big bowls straight away..."
"Then he lost control and refused to return home, insisting on becoming a monk."
"My parents couldn't persuade him, so they had no choice but to let him practice vegetarianism and chant Buddhist scriptures, but he had to keep his hair uncut."
