Chapter 19

Chapter 19

Jiang Lan genuinely resisted rummaging through the trash cans, so she could only compromise by telling Xiao Ming, "You can rummage through them later, and I'll keep watch for you."

Xiaoming thought for a moment, nodded, and realized that there was only one steel bar for rummaging through the trash, so she was the only one who could do it.

Jiang Lan breathed a sigh of relief and slowly rode her bike to find her target.

Before she could find a trash can, Jiang Lan spotted a branded gold jewelry store on the side of the street and an idea popped into her head.

They stopped the car and pulled Xiaoming inside, ignoring his questions. Once inside, they went straight to the clerk and asked, "Do you have any less common couple necklaces?"

The salesperson brought out one, but Jiang Lan looked at the price and shook her head: "I don't want the economical one."

He then took off his helmet and mask, took off his windbreaker, and even took off Xiaoming's.

"A niche style that matches our image and temperament."

Xiao Ming finally chimed in: "I'm not saying I can't accept such an expensive gift from you. What I'm saying is, brother, I don't have the habit of wearing jewelry at all."

"It's okay, just wear it for a few days for my sake."

Since he had already said that, how could Xiaoming refuse? In the end, the two of them chose a delicate chain and a couple's necklace with a unique pendant.

After the two put them on, the salesperson held up a mirror for them to see, and said with a smile, "You two are a perfect match, and you look great. Our brand is currently looking for ordinary people to be our spokespeople. Would you two be interested?"

The two exchanged a glance and shook their heads: "Sorry, not interested."

After paying, the two put on their gear before leaving the store.

After they left, the jewelry store staff and colleagues complained, "Those two probably wore delivery uniforms for fun. Young people these days are getting more and more trendy. Luckily, I managed to keep a good expression the whole time, or I would have been embarrassed."

The two rode their bikes around in circles again, but still couldn't find the trash can they were looking for.

Xiao Ming suspected that Jiang Lan was up to something and didn't want to rummage through the trash can, so he patted her on the shoulder and said, "Get out, I'll drive."

I drove to a well-known upscale residential area and started driving around it in circles.

"Found the target!" Xiaoming excitedly pointed to the large trash can hidden by green plants in front of him.

"You carry your backpack." He said, pulling out his homemade trash-scooping tool, putting on work gloves, and rushing over.

Jiang Lan looked around carefully, then pulled up the hood of her windbreaker before sneaking over there.

Xiao Ming held up his phone as a flashlight, then pulled out a bouquet of flowers and two boxes: "Oh dear, what a blunder! I should have brought a headlamp. Phones are so inconvenient. Jiang Lan, come here and shine the light for me."

Jiang Lan had no choice but to step forward and provide light for his girlfriend, who was engrossed in rummaging through the trash.

After rummaging around for a while, Xiaoming estimated that this was all the stock inside, so he stopped rummaging and squatted down to start unpacking the boxes.

Fortunately, it was winter, and she was wearing two masks. The trash cans weren't too dirty, so Jiang Lan tried her best to turn her head away from the trash and could still tolerate it.

Suddenly a bright light shone down, and a deep male voice rang out from behind: "What are you two doing?!"

Jiang Lan was startled and felt a wave of panic. Before he could react, Xiao Ming turned to look at the two security guards in uniform behind him and said calmly, "My boyfriend just made me angry. In my anger, I threw away the gift he gave me. Then I regretted it and came back to rummage through the trash to see if I could find it."

"Oh, I see. Then what was with you driving around the neighborhood earlier?"

"I was so angry when I threw it away that I didn't remember which trash can I threw it in. So I had to grit my teeth and go through each one one by one."

The security guard looked at the flowers and packaging boxes on the ground and asked, "Did you find this?"

"You'd have to open it to find out; I threw it away without even glancing at it."

As he spoke, Xiao Ming stood up, pulled off his gloves, took out a bag from his pocket, and handed it to the security guard in the lead.

"Brother, we're just looking for something, it's fine, we'll be leaving soon."

The security guard took it casually and saw that it was Hua Zi.

Having witnessed the entire process, Jiang Lan inwardly exclaimed for the second time that night, "You're a real talent, damn it."

After putting away the cigarettes, the security guard, seeing Jiang Lan's blank expression, immediately felt a bit annoyed. He shone a bright spotlight in Jiang Lan's direction and said, "Your girlfriend is looking for a gift. What's wrong with you as a boyfriend? You don't even know how to help. You just stand by and watch."

Jiang Lan didn't expect these two to stand up for her girlfriend so soon after accepting a pack of cigarettes. She lowered her voice and didn't dare to look at the security guards: "She's angry and told me not to move."

The security guard behind him exclaimed "Huh?" He said that a resident in their community had been delivering food from time to time recently, and he had remarked that rich people were just bored and had nothing better to do.

This person seems to be the homeowner. He suddenly realized and then greeted Jiang Lan loudly: "President Jiang, you seem to be in a good mood today, delivering food again."

Jiang Lan's heart, which had been hanging in suspense, finally died.

Haha, so what if the homeowner is rich? He's a pervert. Not only does he like delivering takeout, but he also takes his girlfriend to rummage through trash cans.

Jiang Lan was filled with regret. Why did he let Xiao Ming ride the bike?! He could have just let her rummage through any trash can.

After listening to the security guard's words, Xiao Ming glanced back and forth between the security guard and Jiang Lan. Seeing that Jiang Lan didn't say anything, he nodded: "Yes, I was bored tonight, so I came out to deliver takeout."

The lead security guard chuckled twice and said, "You guys keep looking, we're leaving."

Xiao Ming nodded, waved to them, then squatted down and continued opening the box.

She shook it a few times when she found it; there was something inside, it wasn't an empty shell.

I opened the box with the razor design and lo and behold! A worn-out razor. Who was so bored as to put that in there?

Xiaoming was speechless. He put the broken items back into their original boxes before throwing them away.

Next, we removed the box from the box, which was for a domestically made mobile phone.

Xiaoming had given up hope of finding anything; this time, rummaging through the trash once again proved that she had no luck with unexpected wealth.

Then she opened the box, and wow, this time it was even worse! Inside was an empty perfume bottle stuffed with a wad of paper. No wonder it didn't wobble when she shook it earlier. What the hell is this? Is this a special trash-hunting kit specially sent to her?!

Feeling utterly bored, Xiaoming threw everything he had found back into the trash can, then tore off his gloves and mask and threw them in as well.

Looking at the steel bars on the ground, I thought for a moment, then picked them up and threw them into the trash can.

Jiang Lan watched as Xiao Ming opened the box. She tried to speak several times, but seeing Xiao Ming's nonchalant attitude, the courage she had finally mustered dissipated.

She should have told Xiaoming that she lived here when he rode his bike close to the area. But because she was afraid that Xiaoming would let her into the community to rummage through the trash, she hesitated and didn't say anything. Sure enough, hesitation leads to defeat.

Seeing everything being thrown away, he felt his legs go weak again.

Xiao Ming clapped his hands, walked up to him, lifted the hood of his windbreaker, and asked, "You live here?"

Jiang Lan swallowed hard and nodded, "Ah."

"Come on, let's go to your house and take a look."

"ah?"

"Um?"

"Oh, okay, then I'll ride the bike?"

"I'll ride it."

Upon arriving at the gatehouse, the straightforward security guard saluted them and opened the gate, then loudly asked, "Mr. Jiang, have you found your girlfriend's gift?"

Jiang Lan bumped her head on Xiao Ming's helmet and muttered, "How can there be such an insensitive person?"

Xiao Ming chuckled and loudly replied to the security guard, "No, where can I find it? He reordered one for me."

"That's good. It's a holiday, so we're happy to receive gifts."

Xiao Ming nodded and went inside.

Following Jiang Lan into the house, Xiao Ming peeked around and looked around. It was a large, single-level apartment with a rather cold and minimalist decor. There were two bedrooms, as well as a walk-in closet, a gym, a study connected to a gaming room. Any one of the rooms was larger than the entire house. In short, it was a mansion.

"Didn't you say these large, single-level apartments come with swimming pools? Why don't you have any here?"

"There is a public swimming pool on the rooftop. You can go swimming whenever you want, as long as it is open."

"Oh, I was just asking."

Jiang Lan hasn't been back for a long time, but the place is still spotless, which means a cleaning lady must come regularly to clean it.

Having satisfied his curiosity, Xiaoming wanted to go back.

Are you staying at your place tonight? I want to go back.

Jiang Lan, who had been looking around at her place and had many ideas for renovating that she wanted to ask Xiaoming for his opinion on, suddenly felt a bit sluggish when she saw him stand up and say he was going back before he even got comfortable on the sofa.

Jiang Lan put down the drink she had just taken out to hand to Xiao Ming and said to him, "I'm not staying here. I'll go back with you. Wait for me while I get something."

"good."

When they were leaving, Jiang Lan wanted to take Xiaoming's fingerprints. Xiaoming looked a little confused: "I don't live here, so there's no need to take my fingerprints. We can do it when we need to later."

Jiang Lan sighed, pulled the person into her arms, cupped their face, and bit their cheek hard.

Xiao Ming hissed in pain: "Damn it!"

She also hugged Jiang Lan's head, leaned in, and bit him hard on the chin.

Jiang Lan [hissing].

The two of them covered their chins, while one fanned their face.

Jiang Lan forced the person to put their fingerprints on the form.

When I left the residential area, the security guards should have changed shifts, because I didn't see the two guards.

On their way back, the two bought a lot of delicious food at the food street. Back home, they sat at the dining table, clinking glasses and chatting about the gossip they had seen that day.

Jiang Lan then asked her about her teacher: "How did you know she did that kind of work?"

Xiao Ming started to sound like a know-it-all: "What decent girl would have so many simps around? Besides, look at her clothes, appearance, and mannerisms; she inadvertently reveals a bit of a sleazy air about her."

"A worldly air?" Jiang Lan thought for a moment, comparing it to the escorts she had seen before. "There seems to be a bit of that, different from ordinary girls. Where did you learn that?"

"There are people online who teach you how to tell the difference; you can search for them."

Jiang Lan felt that Xiaoming hadn't told her everything. Online tutorials require a corresponding reference point to be effective. Where did she find that reference point?

A sudden inspiration struck her: "Where did you see that? Tell me, otherwise you'll drink so much water tonight," she said, pointing to the bottles and jars on the table, "and if you need to go to the bathroom in the middle of the night, you won't be able to wake me up."

Xiao Ming, having his weakness exposed, had no choice but to admit defeat: "I watched it on porn."

Once her suspicions were confirmed, Jiang Lan pressed her advantage: "Sharing the resources."

Looking at the various types of resources on his phone, Jiang Lan was speechless. Anyone who wanted to know what it was like to have a girlfriend who was a gaming god could come and ask him.

"Have you seen all of these?"

"No, I've only looked at a few selectively. The people in them are mostly ugly, including the nude art films from a certain East Asian country. If the cover shows a handsome man or woman with good looks, fair skin, and a good figure, I'll click to watch. There are very few truly handsome people, so I usually watch anime."

After tidying up, Jiang Lan asked Xiao Ming if he wanted to celebrate the New Year. Xiao Ming lay on the bed and turned on the night light: "You go to sleep later and help me celebrate mine too. I'm so sleepy, I'm going to sleep now."

Jiang Lan had never heard of someone being able to switch New Year's Eves with another person. She held her phone up to Xiao Ming and said, "I'm sleepy too. Open up some high-quality content you've been watching, and I'll watch it while I ring in the New Year."

Xiao Ming pulled out the resource, opened it, and handed it to him, complaining, "Watching this while ringing in the New Year? Do you want to spend the next year burning with anxiety?"

Jiang Lan smiled but didn't say anything.

While half asleep, Xiaoming felt a sudden chill on his body, which also felt strangely comfortable.

I opened my eyes groggily and looked down to see that it was Jiang Lan causing trouble.

Seeing that she was awake, Jiang Lan got up and said to her face to face, "If I spend New Year's Eve like this, I'll have a very happy New Year next year."

The New Year passed quietly, accompanied by heavy breathing and the sloshing of water stains inside the house, along with the crackling of fireworks outside.
