Gu Jinghui lowered his eyes, gripped the book in his hand tightly, and muttered softly.
They had lunch at Wutong Garden; they were a newlywed couple, and they ate in their own courtyard for all three days.
The kitchen brought out a feast, and the dishes were plentiful and the portions were large; even the master and the maids couldn't finish it all.
Similar to the Qin family, everyone in the Hou family's residence had a ration. If anyone wanted to eat something extra, they could pay extra to order it from the kitchen.
Qin Yuan wasn't picky about food, but because her mother's clan was from the south, she preferred fresh fish and shrimp.
She wasn't very familiar with Gu Jinghui and they had nothing to talk about. Fortunately, they didn't talk while eating, so she just needed to pay attention to Gu Jinghui's dietary preferences.
Hongye and Cuiming stood behind the two, preparing to serve the dishes. Gu Jinghui said, "I'm used to staying in the military camp, so I don't really need this. Let them serve the dishes to the madam."
Qin Yuan smiled and said, "It's just the two of us eating, so there's no need for such a complicated meal. I don't actually like having food served to me."
Gu Jinghui became happy and said, "Then let them eat outside, and the two of us will eat by ourselves."
He seemed uncomfortable with someone standing by and serving him.
Qin Yuan found it a little strange, but didn't ask any further questions.

"What if the Marquis and his wife need someone to serve them later?"
Cuiming planned to take turns dining with Hongye.
"No need, I can take care of things here, Marquis. If you need anything, I'll just call you in," Qin Yuan decided.
Gu Jinghui was even happier.
