Chapter 2 Ghost-Faced Demon

In the dead of night, a red moon hung high in the sky, and the streets were unusually quiet, adding to the eerie atmosphere.

"Well……"

Chi Chen felt a dry mouth and woke up from his drowsy state. The previous torment had made him sweat profusely and almost dehydrated. The discomfort caused by the physiological reaction made him feel extremely uncomfortable.

Chi Chen skillfully untied himself from his bonds, patted his still somewhat groggy head, got up and went into the kitchen to pour himself a large glass of water.

The feeling of dehydration from the pool dust was greatly reduced after drinking the fresh water.

"Huh? What's this?"

Just as Chi Chen was about to fall back asleep, his ear twitched suddenly, and his face turned pale.

"Mom, you have to go!"

Then, a voice that Chi Chen knew all too well clearly reached his ears.

Although Lin Bai was on the first floor and Chi Chen lived on the seventh floor, at this moment, Chi Chen was certain that the desperate roar just now came from Lin Bai on the first floor.

Without hesitation, Chi Chen grabbed a kitchen knife from the kitchen, opened the door, and rushed downstairs.

On the first floor, in Lin Bai's home, Lin Bai was covered in blood, with a deep, bone-revealing bloodstain on each of his legs.

But what truly made him roar in despair was not the pain he was experiencing, but the figure kneeling before him—Lin Bai's mother.

"Lin Bai...run!"

Although Lin Bai's mother's face was covered in blood, she still managed to force a smile as she faced her son. A bone spur protruded from her chest, revealing a grotesque half of its protrusion.

Behind Lin Bai's mother, a monster nearly two meters tall with four long, narrow limbs and a face like a pale ghost mask displayed its ferocity and terror.

"puff!"

As the bone spur was pulled out, Lin Bai's mother collapsed, her life extinguished in an instant. But even in death, all she could see in her eyes was worry for Lin Bai.

"Mom! Ahhhhh!"

Lin Bai screamed wildly. At that moment, despite his legs being crippled, he suddenly found a surge of power that allowed him to stand up and charge madly towards the monster.

"puff!"

But how could Lin Bai, an ordinary person, possibly be a match for that monster? The monster stretched out a limb and casually slapped Lin Bai away, sending him crashing heavily to the ground. The impact caused Lin Bai to feel a sharp pain, and he spat out a mouthful of blood.

"Ah...ah...ah"

Lin Bai roared wildly, his eyes bloodshot, like a wild beast that had lost its mind, struggling to get up, but his body was no longer able to support his movements.

"Bang!"

Suddenly, the wooden door was violently broken open. When Chi Chen saw what was inside, his face turned even paler, and an unparalleled anger rose in his heart.

"It's...that kind of monster again!"

Chi Chen looked at Aunt Zhang, who was already lifeless, and Lin Bai, who was struggling fiercely not far away with a ferocious expression.

A roar resounded in Chi Chen's head as a memory he had tightly locked away deep within his mind surged forth.

Five years ago, when he woke up from his sleep and saw that flash of intense white light, Chi Chen's nightmare began.

On that same day, a demon with a ghostly face, even more terrifying than the monster before him, seemed to appear out of thin air in his home. On that day, Chi Chen's father and mother used their last bit of strength to snatch a glimmer of hope for Chi Chen's survival.

Just like what Lin Bai's mother did today, this terrifying scene is so similar.

The last words Chi Chen's father said to him before he died were:

"Chi Chen, you must live on, you must live well!"

So, for the past five years, despite the increasing suffering Chi Chen endured each day, he persevered in living on.

"Aunt Zhang, Lin Bai!"

The flood of memories passed in an instant. The next moment, without hesitation or pause, Chi Chen charged towards the masked demon with a kitchen knife in hand.

During the difficult five years that Chi Chen endured, Lin Bai and his mother had long since become part of Chi Chen's family.

Lin Bai's mother truly treated Chi Chen as her own child during these five years!

Now, the reappearance of that ghost-faced demon means that Chi Chen will have to go through the same pain he experienced five years ago once again!

How could Chi Chen remain calm? How could he not hate this masked demon?

"Chi Chen?"

Chi Chen's roar instantly brought Lin Bai, who had lost his mind, back to his senses. Lin Bai looked up in disbelief at the figure wielding a kitchen knife and charging towards the masked demon.

Lin Bai didn't have time to think about how Chi Chen got here. He knew how terrifying the Ghost-Faced Demon was, and Chi Chen's actions at this moment were tantamount to courting death in his eyes.

Having just witnessed his mother's death, Lin Bai was unwilling to see Chi Chen die in front of him as well. Lin Bai roared:

"Chi Chen, no! Run!"

However, once the arrow is released, there's no turning back. Even if he could turn back, Chi Chen wouldn't leave now.

Faced with Chi Chen rushing towards it, the Ghost-Faced Demon, with its low intelligence, naturally couldn't understand his thoughts, but it certainly wouldn't let go of food that had been delivered to its door.

"disease!"

The demon with the ghostly face swung out one of its limbs, and the bone spikes on it swiftly slashed towards Chi Chen's head.

"!!!"

Faced with the rapidly approaching bone spurs, Chi Chen felt a chill run down his spine, his hair stood on end, and the shadow of death instantly loomed over his mind.

"Ping!"

In that critical moment, Chi Chen felt a warmth on his chest. Beneath his outer garment, the spiderweb-like, hideous wounds were slightly warm. Chi Chen suddenly felt his body lighten, and his eyes seemed to radiate a sharp light.

Chi Chen quickly raised his right hand, and the kitchen knife in his hand precisely blocked the bone spikes of the Ghost-Faced Demon.

"Bang!"

However, the Ghost-Faced Demon possessed immense power. Although Chi Chen managed to block the attack, he was thrown backward by the impact and slammed against the wall.

"Gurgle!"

Chi Chen forced down a mouthful of sweet, juicy food. His right hand trembled uncontrollably, and he almost dropped the kitchen knife.

"Roar!"

Seeing this, the demon with the masked face also let out a cry. It was somewhat puzzled as to how this ordinary person could react in time to block its attack.

Before it could think any further, Chi Chen grabbed the kitchen knife and rushed forward.

Although Chi Chen was injured, his eyes were unusually bright at this moment. It seemed that power was constantly flowing into his body from his chest, and Chi Chen's strength and speed were enhanced once again.

"It's slowing down? No, it's my dynamic vision that's improved!"

Faced with the bone spikes that the Ghost-Faced Demon swung again, Chi Chen was able to clearly see its trajectory this time, and the Ghost-Faced Demon's movements appeared much slower than before in Chi Chen's eyes.

Chi Chen dodged the Ghost-Faced Demon's bone spike attack by sidestepping, and then chopped down heavily with the kitchen knife in his hand!

"Roar!"

The cleaver swung down, accurately slicing into the forelimb of the demon-faced monster, and a stream of black blood with a slightly foul odor splattered out!

The Ghost-Faced Demon, injured, let out an angry roar, and its other forelimb instantly slashed down at Chi Chen's waist.

This slash was so fast that even though Chi Chen's speed and strength had greatly improved, he was still cut by the tip of the bone spike above his abdomen while dodging.

Chi Chen's expression changed slightly. Although he felt a sharp pain in his abdomen, it was still within his tolerance range, given his years of suffering.

Having been stabbed himself, Chi Chen naturally had to return the favor. He swung his cleaver with all his might, slashing straight at one of the Ghost-Faced Demon's hind limbs, the blade embedding itself halfway into it.

"roar!"

The demon with the masked face was injured again and was furious. Its already terrifying mask became even more ferocious.

"Chi Chen...?"

Not far away, Lin Bai looked at the scene in front of him in disbelief. Was this still the Chi Chen who usually looked so unreal?

"Why? Why can't I do anything?"

After a moment of stunned silence, Lin Bai felt a surge of anger and self-reproach. During the battle between Chi Chen and the Ghost-Faced Demon, Lin Bai was also struggling to get up, but no matter how hard he tried, he could only manage to crawl one step on the ground at most.

In fact, for an ordinary person like Lin Bai, if it weren't for his unwavering determination at this moment, his injuries would have already caused him to faint!
