105 Sacrificial Corridor 19 || Virtual and Real
Darkness itself is prone to causing depressing emotions, but fortunately some moonlight comes in through the window. Although this little light is not enough to illuminate the entire room, it will not make people completely lost in the abyss.
Wu Yushan took out her cell phone, which showed exactly ten o'clock.
Fortunately, it’s still early.
In this era of information explosion, mobile phones have become an indispensable part of people's lives. Especially before going to bed, she quickly lost interest in browsing her old phone without internet access and put it aside.
The cold wind outside made the window rattle, and many tiny ice chips formed on the glass.
Wu Yushan sat up, put on her coat, and prepared to get up and look out the window.
As soon as she walked to the window, she saw a beam of warm light shining on the windowsill. Wu Yushan was stunned for a moment, thinking that she was dazzled and seeing things.
This light was clearly coming from one of those old-fashioned light bulbs that were installed in every room. But wasn't there a power outage at this time? How could a light bulb still be on?
Did someone forget to turn off the lights? Or was it that the power never went out every night, and the security guard deliberately sent a false message to disturb them?
Wu Yushan looked at the light and hesitated for a moment, then opened the window a crack, trying to find the source of the light.
A biting cold wind rushed into the house like a surging wave, as if it was about to swallow the entire room. This cold wind was many times stronger than the cold Wu Yushan had felt before going upstairs. She couldn't help but shudder, and goose bumps instantly covered her body.
Wu Yushan wrapped her clothes tightly around her and carefully stuck her head out, trying to see what was happening outside. However, when her eyes met the darkness outside, a wave of fear surged in her heart.
It was a complete darkness, without a trace of light. It was like being shrouded in endless darkness, making people feel like there was nowhere to escape.
Her gaze slowly shifted. The colorful glass that had appeared during the day had become blurred in the night, losing its original color and leaving only a grayish hue. However, her sight was drawn to a faint light on the right.
The light coming from the next room, although very weak, was particularly eye-catching in the darkness.
Wu Yushan looked closely and found that the light source actually came from Wu Yaqi's room next door.
The mood that had finally calmed down was instantly stirred up again, and there was only one impulse left in my heart: I can go find her. It's still early, there will be no danger, I just need to rush back by eleven o'clock.
Emotions take over reason.
Wu Yushan turned around quickly and strode towards the door, but on the way she accidentally bumped her knee into the aging bookshelf, causing the books on it to fall down instantly with a loud noise.
He Xiaoxuan was sound asleep when the sudden loud noise startled her so much that she almost jumped out of bed. She looked at the scene in front of her with a look of fear, her scalp tingling. "What...what are you doing?"
Wu Yushan stood there dumbfounded, head lowered, eyes glazed over. For a moment, she was confused. What had she just done? Why did she even think of going out?
"I... don't know..." The more she thought about it, the more frightened she became. Wu Yushan's voice trembled with extreme fear. "I really don't know..."
He Xiaoxuan looked at the almost unfamiliar Wu Yushan, subconsciously retracted her legs, curled up her body, and pretended to be calm, "Are you okay..."
Hearing this, Wu Yushan mechanically raised her head and glanced at the windowsill. There was no light there, only the wide-open window and the cold wind blowing in.
She stared at He Xiaoxuan without saying a word, and vigilantly maintained what she thought was a safe distance.
He Xiaoxuan's nerves were so tense that they were about to break, and she was terrified by Wu Yushan's look.
She was confused. She couldn't tell whether the Wu Yushan in front of her was real or fake, so she had to keep moving her body to avoid being caught by her.
The bed was not big, and she only moved a little, and her back hit the wall. Her fingers gripping the quilt turned white from being so tight.
Fear, terror, helplessness.
Wu Yushan saw her every move. All of He Xiaoxuan's reactions were so natural and real. If what she saw was real, was there something else in the room controlling her thinking?
What on earth was this? But they were the only two people in the room the whole time!
"Xiaoxuan, don't be afraid, I am the real Wu Yushan." Wu Yushan explained as she moved closer to the bed. She decided to take a gamble.
"Don't come over here!" He Xiaoxuan screamed, her voice was sharp and piercing, but it seemed that she could not penetrate the room.
"Okay, okay, I'll stand right here." Wu Yushan stopped in her tracks. "I can explain everything to you clearly. I can tell you how we met and everything we did together in the past."
He Xiaoxuan judged in her mind with horror that ghosts could imitate sounds and read memories, but no one knew whether ghosts could deceive the eyes.
As they were testing and pulling each other, an idea came to their minds at the same time: as long as the thing in front of them was not a ghost, there would be no harm in sitting face to face for a whole night. It would be more useful than any words.
The two reached a delicate balance.
The moon outside the window seemed to be blocked by dark clouds, and the already dim room became even darker. Wu Yushan's right eyelid twitched, and a strong bad premonition came over her.
Sure enough, the next second.
The phone rang.
"Ding-ling-ling—ding-ling-ling—"
The shrill ringtone made my heart skip a beat. What I feared really came true.
Wu Yushan was closer to the phone. After taking a look at He Xiaoxuan lying on the bed, she walked to the living room and answered the phone.
"Wu Yushan? Is that you?"
When she heard the sound, Wu Yushan felt numb from head to toe and had difficulty breathing for a while.
The person who called was none other than He Xiaoxuan.
Wu Yushan held the receiver, her voice shaking more and more. She opened her mouth several times before she forced out the word "yes" that was stuck in her throat.
He Xiaoxuan exclaimed, "Great, it really is you, thank God."
Wu Yushan didn't say anything. She held the phone, tilted her body, and took a peek into the room.
He Xiaoxuan in the room maintained her original posture, looking towards the door vigilantly.
"Where are you?"
"Me? I was in the room. I should have asked you where you went. I woke up and found you were gone." He Xiaoxuan asked in confusion, "Luckily, you're okay."
"How do you know the phone number?" Wu Yushan asked with a frown.
"The phone number is written on the wall next to the phone, so I tried calling it. I didn't expect it to be you who answered," He Xiaoxuan said hurriedly. "I don't know what's going on over there, but it's almost eleven o'clock."
Wu Yushan looked up and saw the owner's phone number written on the wall.
Could it be that the He Xiaoxuan in the room now was really fake, and the one on the phone was real? Her eyes deceived her brain, and all the wrong things just now were explained.
She felt like she was going crazy, her nerves completely broken. Which side was real? Which side was fake?
There's something wrong with this room.
She put the receiver aside and walked towards the door hesitantly, having already made a choice in her heart.
