The weight of her body sank into the quilt. Yan Shuang opened her hazy eyes and met Jing Ning's close gaze.

His arms were at his sides, enveloping him completely in their presence, their breaths mingling, the air thick with silent yet deafening love and desire.

"You're blushing." Jing Ning's numb voice sounded in his ears, gently biting the outline.

Yan Shuang's whole body trembled, and she wished she could find a crack in the ground to crawl into. She twisted her body and decided to go for it. "Do you want to do it?"

The room was horribly quiet. His mouth had just spoken faster than his brain, and he had said something. Before he could figure out what was going on, Jing Ning's claws were already stretched out, leaving him no chance to escape.

Yan Shuang received a thorough practical lesson, which was a physical job. She almost thought she was going to die here.

The dry earth has been waiting for this rain for many years.

In the end, only the sound of each other's breathing remained, lingering in the night.

The night is very long.

The next afternoon, Yan Shuang opened his eyes in a daze and stared at the ceiling for ten minutes before gradually regaining consciousness.

Waves of pain came from his body, making him grimace for a long time.

Jing Ning had just come out of the bathroom, his slightly curly hair was wet and stuck to his temples, and water droplets slowly flowed down his handsome face, down his neck and into his collarbone.

A frosty bath towel was loosely wrapped around Bai Ze's waist, revealing particularly attractive muscle lines beneath his skin.

"You're awake now. Does it still hurt?"

"We've only just started. Ten more rounds won't be a problem." Because of the pride a man can never let go of, Yan Shuang said seriously, "Baby, you still have to keep up the good work."

Just as he was about to sit up, the force he exerted made him gasp and he froze there for a moment.

"What are you looking at? Help me up!"

Jing Ning suppressed his laughter, helped him up, and teased him softly, "Oh? Then let's try again tonight."

Yan Shuang glared at him.

"Let me think, who was it last night that kept shouting that they were going to die..."

Before he could finish his words, Yan Shuang immediately covered his mouth with her hand and interrupted him forcefully, "I'm going to take a shower."

"Do you want me to help you?"

"No!" Yan Shuang got up from the bed, limped into the bathroom, and shut out his laughter outside the door.

Yan Shuang was having breakfast when Ye Jing'an called.

"Your throat hasn't healed yet. It sounds like it's getting worse. If it doesn't work, go get some medicine. You feel like you're going to become mute." The simple-minded Ye Jing'an still did not forget to care about his friend's health.

Yan Shuang hummed "hmm" and stuffed a mouthful of matsutake chicken porridge into his mouth. He actually tasted like pork trotter rice.

"It will be fine after two days of rest, what's wrong?" Yan Shuang put down the bowl, slumped in the chair after eating and asked.

"Dr. Lin just took a picture of me and noticed the game... interface has changed."

"Changed?" Yan Shuang sat up straight. Ye Jing'an didn't say that he had returned to normal but that he had changed. That meant that he was definitely different from before.

Jing Ning had already grabbed the computer and entered the game. Something had indeed changed. Following last night's blue screen, the background had returned to its usual horror, with a few more words on it:

The game is under maintenance, time to be determined.

"It feels like an online game. The server behind it still needs maintenance." Yan Shuang stared at the gray login interface on the screen, with a hint of sarcasm in his tone.

"Didn't it mention the game above? Which game doesn't need maintenance? Now is the downtime period. In my opinion, it would be best if this game is maintained for a lifetime." Ye Jing'an added.

"Take online games as an example. Game maintenance usually involves fixing bugs or adding new features."

“How come I didn’t notice this thing has a bug?”

"So it's very likely that new content will be added or..." Yan Shuang paused and continued, "adding a deeper level of difficulty."

"It's going to get harder! We're not afraid of the server burning out."

"You can ignore it for now." Jing Ning put away the computer. "We'll see what happens after the maintenance is finished."

Ye Jing'an quickly put the matter behind him, hung up the phone and went about his own business.

Games have been completely integrated into their lives. Playing games is as indispensable as eating and drinking, although they still complain occasionally.

On the other side, Tian Yiyi contacted Xu Yaoyu's parents last night. The two elders came in the early morning and took her body back.

Before leaving, he kept thanking Tian Yiyi for her care.

Tian Yiyi endured the pain and had to comfort the two of them.

Every word of thanks from them cut a deep wound in Tian Yiyi's heart. Only after they left did she finally breathe a sigh of relief. She squatted on the ground and sniffed the faint smell lingering in the room.

She locked herself in the house, blocking out any sounds from the outside world, and time passed day and night.

During this period, several other people tried to persuade her, but only she knew how much she listened to.

It wasn't until a week later that Tian Yiyi woke up from a nightmare again.

Her chest heaving violently, she sat up abruptly, cold air filling her lungs. The unforgettable eyes from her dream were still staring at her in the darkness, sticky red wrapped around her limbs, dragging her towards the abyss.

Tian Yiyi wiped the sweat from her forehead vigorously. Her fingertips were cold, causing a shiver when they touched her skin.

Outside the window, it was still dark, and the gray-blue light barely outlined the contours of the room.

She felt a little hungry and had forgotten how many meals she had eaten in the past few days. She charged her phone, which had long been dead, and messages popped up one after another. She didn't want to pay attention, so she ordered a bunch of delicious food and threw her phone aside.

Then he dragged his exhausted body out of bed. Every step felt like stepping on cotton or dragging shackles - seven consecutive days of nightmares had drained all his strength, and even his bones were tired.

But she was addicted to it because it was the only way to see her again.

Fortunately, you will come to my dreams again.

Pushing open the bathroom door, the fluorescent light flickered twice, and the pale light instantly engulfed the darkness. Tian Yiyi looked up, her face in the mirror was haggard, bloodshot, and her eyes were covered in bloodshot veins. Her pupils were like a scarlet spider web, and in the center of the web were two bottomless pools of fear and despair.

It's so ugly, if Xiaoyu were here she would definitely dislike it, she thought to herself with self-mockery.

After simply washing my face, I returned to the sofa and continued to curl up.

After a person suffers a major blow, his brain will become numb and use it to protect his body.

The knock on the door broke the silence. Tian Yiyi opened the door and took the takeaway, then habitually called out, "Xiaoyu, come and eat."

No response.

She stood there, looking a little at a loss. The belated farewell was more intense than the one on the spot.

She finally couldn't help crying and cried like crazy.

This time it is not a separation, but a farewell forever.

Although it is painful, isn't it a lesson we must learn?
