3 Movie 03‖Night
"Don't move." Jing Ning's voice sounded softly in his ears, with a hint of severity.
Yan Shuang instinctively pulled away her hands from her face and said anxiously, "Outside the door..."
Before he could finish, Jing Ning increased the strength of his hands and lowered his voice, "If you don't want to die, don't make a sound."
Yan Shuang didn’t know if it was an illusion, but she felt that the temperature in the room was dropping rapidly.
The wind outside made the already flimsy windows rattle.
Jing Ning felt that Yan Shuang had calmed down, so he released his hands that were covering his face, tiptoed out of bed, and deliberately suppressed his voice.
He squatted by the door, leaning against the blind spot and staring out through the crack. One minute, two minutes... He kept the same posture.
Yan Shuang really wanted to ask him what he saw, but then she remembered Jing Ning's warning.
So he also walked lightly, leaned on the other side of the door and looked out.
It was white outside and I couldn't see anything.
When I was in bed, there was clearly a dark shadow outside the door, but why can I see white now?
No! Yan Shuang's hair stood on end for a moment. It wasn't that he couldn't see anything, because he was looking at the whites of the eyes of the thing outside.
Something outside was also watching them through the crack in the door!!!
Yan Shuang froze for a moment. It was too much like a scene in a horror movie where a sudden attack occurred. She couldn't help but curse, "Fuck."
Cold sweat slid down his forehead. He swallowed hard and held his breath.
The thing outside the door was observing the room through the crack, but it didn't seem to find what it wanted. Suddenly, it flashed and its eyes disappeared.
Yan Shuang breathed a sigh of relief, glad that she woke up suddenly, otherwise her head would have disappeared while she was sleeping.
Jing Ning's expression wasn't looking good either. The two of them exchanged glances and tacitly leaned towards the blind spots on either side of the door.
"What should we do?" Yan Shuang asked, wiping the sweat from his forehead. He had no experience with these things and had no idea how to deal with them.
"Wait." Jing Ning lowered his head, not knowing what he was thinking. After a long moment, he spoke quickly, "Listen, if he looks at you, don't move or make a sound."
As soon as he finished speaking, the sound of nails scratching the wooden door came from outside, and the old wooden door creaked.
Yanshuang felt that Jingning beside him did not move at all, and the room fell into silence again.
The thing outside the door was scratching tirelessly, as if it would not stop until it killed the two of them.
The nights here are long and terrifying. We endured the whole night like this, and the sound only disappeared when the sky was just getting light.
Yan Shuang was drenched in sweat, and his throat was extremely dry. It took him several attempts before he managed to utter a hoarse and exhausted voice, "Brother Ning, Brother Ning..."
Yan Shuang's voice echoed in the air, but no one responded. He braced himself against the wall, using all his strength to prop up his legs, which had become numb and unconscious. He stared intently at Jing Ning's closed eyes, and his heart suddenly skipped a beat.
At this moment, as if by telepathy, Jing Ning suddenly opened his eyes. Their gazes met in an instant, and time seemed to freeze for a moment.
"Gone?" Jing Ning came back to his senses and asked.
"Let's go." Yan Shuang finally felt relieved. "No, you can fall asleep like this?"
Jing Ning stretched and said sleepily, "Who knows how long that thing will stay outside the door? Besides, it's human nature to eat when hungry and sleep when tired."
Yan Shuang looked at him and thought, "You call this human nature? No normal person would dare to sleep in this situation!"
Yan Shuang asked, "Aren't you afraid it will break in?"
"You didn't come in. You didn't sleep all night, did you?" Jing Ning blinked and asked innocently.
Yan Shuang: ??? Should I sleep?
Jing Ning stood up and looked at his red eyes. "Thank you for your hard work. Why don't you get some more sleep?"
Yan Shuang glanced at the clock on the wall and saw it was only a little after four in the morning. She rubbed her temples and said sleepily, "Okay."
The next day, around eight in the morning, the two were awakened by a scream.
"Something must have happened next door." Jing Ning said, "Do you want to go check it out?"
"Let's go." Yan Shuang put on his coat quickly.
As soon as I stepped outside, I saw several people gathered in the corridor, some crying, some looking pale. The air was thick with the smell of blood, and I had a bad feeling.
Jing Ning quickened his pace, ignored these people, and went straight into the room.
Inside the room, Lin Haichen was squatting on the ground, carefully examining the body on the ground. He looked up and saw Jing Ning in front of the door and nodded as if to say hello, "It's the auntie who was late yesterday."
Jing Ning glanced at the corpse on the ground and said, "Well, you continue, I'll take a look at the others."
The door was half-open, and Yan Shuang took a peek inside. This peek was something he would never forget. There was a large pool of blood on the floor of the room, and due to the passage of time, the blood had already solidified.
A corpse lay quietly on the floor. Although Lin Haichen's figure blocked most of the view, he could still see the lower half of the corpse. It was already covered in blood, with bright red muscles and blood vessels exposed to the air, a mess.
Yan Shuang's expression changed again and again, and she swallowed several times before she suppressed the strong feeling of nausea.
Jing Ning walked around the house and found no useful clues, so he took a few people to wait downstairs.
Xu Yaoyu's condition today was similar to yesterday's, even more miserable. With swollen eyes, he said, "Why don't we wait here for Brother Lin? It's not safe to leave him alone."
Jing Ning said, "With so many people standing here, the air won't circulate, and it'll smell bad at night. It's fine during the day. He's a doctor, a professional."
She pursed her lips and didn't say anything else.
Breakfast was already prepared on the table on the first floor, steaming hot. Yan Shuang was just wondering if the food on the table was poisonous when Jing Ning unceremoniously sat down at the table and started eating from the bowl in his hand.
Yan Shuang wanted to have an ideological struggle, but his stomach gave him the upper hand. Forget it, man is iron and rice is steel, it is better than starving to death, even though the food does not look good.
After breakfast, Lin Haichen came downstairs. Just as he was about to speak, Xu Yaoyu directly placed the food in front of him and said, "Eat first and talk later."
Lin Haichen looked up at her and said, "Thank you." He had been busy all morning and hadn't had a drop of water. He was indeed feeling a little dizzy at the moment, but he didn't refuse her kindness.
After replenishing some calories, Lin Haichen said, "Without professional tools here, I can only do a simple examination. Her skin was flayed alive, and the incision on her back was made. Judging from the degree of blood coagulation, the time of death was around 12 o'clock."
"But..." Lin Haichen frowned, as if he didn't know how to describe it. "It was peeled very neatly. This sharp weapon might have been a very sharp knife. There are no signs of anything in the house being touched. What does this mean?"
"No ability to fight back." Yan Shuang's voice turned cold, reminding him of what was outside the door yesterday.
