56 Taboo 17 || Going Out
Afterwards, Gao Yan disappeared, and the only thing left on the ground that proved she had existed was the pool of blood.
It was the first time that Zhang Fan saw such a bloody scene. He was so scared that he stepped back repeatedly. He accidentally sprained his ankle, fell to the ground and vomited.
After Liu Nian dealt with Gao Yan, he held the still bleeding tongue in his hand with a satisfied expression on his face.
Zhang Fan thought Liu Nian showed up because he didn't take the exam today, so he should kill them next. She had to run, no matter where, as long as she didn't get killed.
After this thought came to my mind, I immediately took off my high heels that were in the way and ran to the playground.
"Where are you going?" Ye Jing'an was closest to her, and before he could react, he saw her running out.
Ye Jing'an was actually very scared too. It was his first time facing a ghost, so it would be strange if he wasn't afraid. But when he saw his brothers and Jing Ning standing in the front, not looking worried at all, he managed to calm down. If he wanted to run, he had to pull Yan Shuang with him.
Jing Ning didn't have time to care about Zhang Fan. He took out Liu Nian's photo from his pocket and handed it to her, "I found this for you."
Liu Nian put her tongue into her mouth. She looked down at her hands covered in blood and wiped them haphazardly on her white dress before looking at herself in them. Blood flowed from her eyes, dripping down her once innocent self.
"Thank you...you." Liu Nian's voice was gentle yet desolate.
Liu Nian smiled brightly, and her voice seemed filled with melancholy and sadness. "I thought he would get his comeuppance, but every little girl is loving someone well."
"But you can stop this farce and protect other people," Jing Ning said.
"Protect others..." Liu Nian held the photo in his arms, raised his head, looked at Jing Ning with innocent eyes, and murmured.
"Yes, protect those who have not been hurt by him." Yan Shuang bent down, supported her thighs with her hands, and looked Liu Nian in the eye.
Liu Nian's eyes moved back and forth between the two of them. He looked at Yan Shuang with his dark eyes and asked him, "Brother... do you like this big brother?"
Yan Shuang didn't expect her to ask this question. She looked up at Jing Ning with her lips taut, and was stunned for a moment. "I like him. This big brother is very good to us. The most important thing is that he is a very good person too."
Liu Nian wanted to say something, but Jing Ning patted her head and said, "Go ahead."
"Then I hope you two will be together forever." Liu Nian smiled and waved to the two of them, and disappeared on the spot the next second.
Yan Shuang didn't think much of it and smiled gently, "This child is quite good."
Jing Ning shook his head and said in a low voice: "Go find the door."
Yan Shuang looked at his back, her heart full of doubts. Did he just sigh? She was baffled.
At night, the school was pitch black except for a few street lights. They walked along the playground, keeping an eye out for Zhang Fan. They searched the classroom, library, and Zhang Bin's office but couldn't find the black door.
"Could the door be in the girls' dormitory? After all, that's where Liu Nian died." Tian Yiyi said.
"We can't get up here at night." Ye Jing'an looked around and couldn't find the door they were talking about. He felt tired like a dog.
Tian Yiyi finally decided, "Xiaoyu and I will go upstairs to take a look, you guys wait downstairs."
So they came to the dormitory building, and the two of them entered the girls' dormitory, but did not come down for a long time.
"The door is not really in their dormitory, so they went out." Ye Jingan sat on the ground, hugging a tree, half-closing his eyes and dozing off.
Yan Shuang looked up at the lighted room. Half an hour had passed since the two of them went upstairs. There was no danger now. The door was really inside the dormitory. Given their personalities, they wouldn't sneak out early unless something happened.
Just as Yan Shuang was thinking about whether to climb up to the fourth floor from the outside, the sound of someone coming down the stairs was heard from the stairwell.
"Zhang Fan committed suicide..." Xu Yaoyu gasped, "But she's still breathing. Sister Yiyi and I gave her a simple bandage, but she won't be able to stay alive for long."
"Why did you commit suicide out of secrecy?" Ye Jing'an asked.
"She must have been so traumatized that she couldn't handle it. She was afraid of being killed by Liu Nian, so she decided to do it herself," Lin Haichen explained. "Not everyone can handle this kind of environment."
"That's right. If it weren't for you guys, I would have wanted to die on the first night I came here." Ye Jing'an showed a stiff smile on his tired face. He was really too sleepy. He hadn't had a good sleep since he stepped into the campus. Now that there was no danger, a feeling of fatigue flooded into his brain.
The darkness in the sky began to dissipate, and a new day arrived.
"If even the dormitory isn't the core area of the game, where would the door be?" Lin Haichen took off his glasses and rubbed his dry eyes.
Jing Ning narrowed his eyes slightly, his slender figure motionless, his back straight. The morning sun shone on him, casting a dazzling halo around him. "Liu Nian is being ostracized by students, and I'm afraid she doesn't just hate one person. Each person is like an invisible knife, hastening her death."
Yan Shuang gazed into the distance. The camphor trees were lush and vibrant. In the distance, a group of young men and women smiled with a hint of youthfulness. That was the truest form of youth, and a past that could never be returned to.
"You mean he hates this cannibalistic school—"
Yan Shuang turned back and said, "Let's go see how Zhang Fan is doing. If she's still breathing, carry her down and we'll get out."
"Ah? Do you know where the door is?" Ye Jing'an asked like a sleepwalker. He seemed to have not missed anything just now, so how did he suddenly know it?
The two girls ran upstairs without saying a word and soon came down.
It was obvious that Zhang Fan was already dead, so there was no need to take him out. He could have escaped by just one more night, but he died on the eve of victory. Yan Shuang remembered what Jing Ning had said in the first game: death was commonplace. They couldn't care less about too many people, so they were lucky to be able to save their own lives.
The six people did not stay here for long and went straight to the school gate.
The door at the school entrance had turned into a black gate. Jing Ning pushed open the door, turned sideways, grabbed Yan Shuang's hand, and fell backwards.
Yan Shuang subconsciously held Jing Ning's bony fingers tightly, and the two fell towards the door together.
In the dim light, Yan Shuang felt herself being held in Jing Ning's arms, his breath surrounding her, surrounding her in the short space.
The sound of dripping rain faintly came into Yan Shuang's ears, and he opened his eyes and returned to reality.
Every time he came out of the game, he felt a brief sense of disconnection. Yan Shuang picked up the water in front of him and took a sip.
Ye Jing'an, who was not far away, suddenly shouted, "Ah! Holy shit!!!", which scared his colleagues who were still working overtime and they all cast complaining glances at him.
