Chapter 34, Part 18 || Death
"Lei Daoquan?" Yan Shuang shouted into the house without hope.
As he expected, there was no response from the room. He looked into the dark room and took out his phone to shine it inside.
Although he had been mentally prepared, Yan Shuang was still startled when the light shone on the wall and couldn't help but blurt out, "Fuck!"
The arterial blood that had splattered across the room was now solidified on the walls.
Jing Ning also followed him into the room and said, "He's dead." Lei Daoquan's body was hanging right above the bed.
The two of them had been in the room yesterday. Jing Ning avoided the coagulated bloodstains and turned on the light in the room.
With sufficient light, it was much easier for the three of them to observe.
Lei Daoquan's body was already stiff, blood dripping from his feet onto the bed, soaking the entire bed in a dark red. Not a single spot on the wall of the room was clean, and the smell of blood in the air was getting stronger and stronger, making people sick.
Yan Shuang cleared her throat and suppressed the nausea. "Doctor Lin?"
"I understand." Lin Haichen said, turned around to observe the bloodstains, and concluded, "Based on the degree of blood coagulation, the time of death is approximately between 1 and 2 in the morning."
Yan Shuang took a look at Lei Daoquan's body. His neck was broken, and the white cervical vertebrae were exposed in the torn flesh. The broken bone stubble pierced the skin, and the tendons and blood vessels hung like broken cotton. The dark red blood stains had long since dried up.
A rough hemp rope was tightly tied into the gap between the broken cervical vertebrae, hanging the entire body under the chandelier. The hemp rope was soaked in blood and became stiff and black.
"Why did he die suddenly?" After saying this, Yan Shuang suddenly thought of the dream Chen Rujing had told her.
The scene in the dream was exactly the same as now: Lei Daoquan being hanged, the blood-stained bedsheets, and...
And Chen Rujing said that Lei Daoquan’s eyes were always on him!
And now Lei Daoquan is facing the stone statue!
Yan Shuang's eyes suddenly focused, and he walked to the stone statue and knocked on it, and the statue made a dull echo.
really!
There's something inside the statue!!
"Come quickly, there is something in here!" Yan Shuang said.
Jing Ning took out a chisel head from somewhere. He half-knelt down, placed the chisel blade against the gap at the edge of the stone statue, and slowly inserted it in.
"Where did you get this thing?" Yan Shuang asked
Jing Ning: "I went to the front desk yesterday."
Yan Shuang: It has to be you!
Jing Ning exerted force with both hands, veins popping out on his arms. The chisel pried the cracks in the stone little by little, making a "crunching" sound.
The cracks in the stone statue gradually loosened, and with a crisp "click", a piece of stone was pried open, revealing a bloody corpse.
"This is..." Lin Haichen was shocked and quickly moved closer to take a closer look.
"This should be Chen Rujing's body." Yan Shuang said with a frown.
Chen Rujing's body was stuffed into the stone statue, and her naked body was now exposed to the light.
The reason why Yan Shuang said it was possible was because the body had no skin, and the muscle fibers were exposed to the air. Every strand of muscle appeared unusually clear because it had lost the cover of the epidermis.
"Same as Liu Hu." Jing Ning said.
"When did he die?" Yan Shuang asked.
Lin Haichen pushed up his glasses that had slid down his nose and said, "It's hard to tell the exact time, but it's definitely much earlier than Lei Daoquan."
Earlier than Lei Daoquan, then when was Chen Rujing killed? Yan Shuang remembered something again. Nothing happened on the first night they entered the game. In fact, it was not the case. What if Chen Rujing was already dead that night?
The more Yan Shuang thought about it, the more scared she became. What the hell was following her around these past two days?
"Why do I feel that the face on this statue looks more and more like Chen Rujing?" Yan Shuang thought while looking at the intact face on the stone statue.
Lin Haichen raised his head and looked at the stone statue carefully, "Don't tell me."
"Go out first." Jing Ning said.
They left the room, locking the door thoughtfully.
"Liu Hu died when he was chosen as a bride, and his body was similarly stuffed into the stone statue. Chen Rujing aside, no one discovered when he died, so there's no basis for reference." Lin Haichen analyzed. "Then what were the conditions for Lei Daoquan's death? Did he see the changes in the mirror?"
"Probably not." Jing Ning denied Lin Haichen's guess, "Yan Shuang also saw it yesterday afternoon."
Yan Shuang nodded, "Yes, when I looked in the mirror in their room yesterday afternoon, the mirror also made different movements from me."
"I think it's about leaving the room at night," Jing Ning continued.
They came to the restaurant while discussing.
As soon as Yan Shuang entered the room, she saw Ye Qi sitting on a chair and talking to Xu Yaoyu excitedly. She showed no intention of stopping after they entered the room.
"Where have you been?" Xu Yaoyu interrupted Ye Qi's speech and asked while eating the breakfast in front of him.
Jing Ning said calmly, "I went to see the body."
The four people at the table fell silent, and they immediately thought of Chen Rujing and Lei Daoquan who had not appeared until now.
Everyone's face was filled with horror and fear.
Only Ye Qi's smile hadn't completely faded, but a strange light flashed in her eyes. She gently put down her chopsticks and swept her eyes across everyone's faces, finally stopping at Jing Ning.
"A corpse?" Her voice was light and airy. "Whose is it?"
Yan Shuang noticed that Ye Qi's fingers were trembling slightly, not sure whether it was because of fear or something else.
Xu Yaoyu's face turned pale, and the spoon in her hand dropped onto the plate with a clang. "Don't scare me... What's going on?"
Jing Ning remained expressionless, adding calmly, "Chen Rujing and Lei Daoquan are dead."
The air at the table seemed to freeze. After a few seconds, Ye Qi regained her composure and said, "Oh!"
Then Lin Haichen described the situation in the room and also told them the conditions of death they speculated.
The more Ye Qi listened, the uglier her expression became. She stood up and the chair scraped against the floor, making a harsh sound.
"Ye Qi, what's wrong with you?" Xu Yaoyu asked worriedly.
"Don't worry about me! I'm full and I'm going home!" said Ye Qi.
Everyone was silent, looking at her.
"Liu Hu is in the room." Jing Ning's voice suddenly sounded in the silence.
Ye Qi's footsteps suddenly stopped, and her back froze. She slowly turned her head, and the expression on her face had completely changed - the calmness she had deliberately maintained was gone, replaced by an almost twisted tension.
"Liu Hu?" Xu Yaoyu looked at Jing Ning blankly, "Isn't Liu Hu already..." dead? He didn't finish his words.
"No..." Ye Qi retorted subconsciously.
"You're still going back? Do you know that you might be the one who died tonight?" Yan Shuang said hurriedly.
Ye Qi's shoulders suddenly relaxed, she exhaled, tears welling up in her eyes, and she looked at him with a smile, "That's good too, I can't live without him."
