Chapter 13 Subtle Relationship

Chapter 13 Subtle Relationship

The Lotus Tower was once again driving slowly on the official road, but the atmosphere inside the car was completely different from before.

The space inside the car was already small, and now it felt even more cramped. Di Feisheng, like a rock, firmly occupied the spot closest to Li Lianhua. His body tense beneath his black robe, his eyes as sharp as a hawk, constantly monitoring Fang Duobing's every move. Whenever Fang Duobing tried to get close to Li Lianhua to say a word, offer a glass of water, or even just glance at her, he would immediately receive Di Feisheng's icy gaze and silent pressure, as if to say, "Stay away from my people."

At first, Fang Duobing was unnerved by the stares, but the youthful nature of the time had given rise to a rebellious streak. Adding to his somewhat unreliable nature, he actually began to find this now-amnesiac and ruthless Di Alliance Leader… a bit amusing. So, he would deliberately approach Li Lianhua and exaggerate about the case, just to see Di Feisheng's reaction, which would instantly darken his face and pull Li Lianhua behind him.

Li Lianhua was caught in the middle, exhausted. He had to appease Di Feisheng, whose fury could flare up at any moment and whose needs intensified at night, while also managing Fang Duobing, whose energy was overflowing and who yearned for chaos. He felt less like a doctor and more like taming two large, fierce dogs of very different breeds.

Whenever he arrived at a place that might be related to clues about Shan Gudao's remains, Fang Duobing would always rush to the front, full of enthusiasm, and inquire around. However, due to his lack of experience, he would often alert the enemy or ask irrelevant questions.

Di Feisheng, on the other hand, had no interest in "investigating the case" per se. His entire focus was on two things: first, ensuring Li Lianhua was within his sight; second, preventing Fang Duobing from getting too close to her. As for the clue? What was that? Was it edible?

So the following scenario often occurs:

Fang Duobing finally got some vague information out of an old man and was excitedly trying to get Li Lianhua to analyze it, but Di Feisheng suddenly interrupted the conversation, handed Li Lianhua a freshly washed wild fruit (and gave Fang Duobing a cold glance), and interrupted the conversation.

Fang Duobing found a suspicious trace and called Li Lianhua to come and see. Di Feisheng would go there first and wipe out half of the trace with his feet (because he thought that place was dangerous and would not let Li Lianhua get close), which made Fang Duobing so angry that he jumped to his feet.

Li Lianhua tried to provide free medical treatment to local people in exchange for information, but Di Feisheng stood behind him with his arms folded, and with a murderous look, "encouraged" the people to speak quickly after seeing the doctor and leave quickly after speaking. The people were so scared that they trembled and could not speak clearly.

However, sometimes Di Feisheng's beast-like intuition and terrifying fighting power can unexpectedly become a "god assist".

For example, one time they tracked a group of suspicious people to the mountains. The other party set up a maze. Fang Duobing and Li Lianhua were trying to deduce how to break the formation. Di Feisheng became impatient and flattened half of the trees on the hillside with one palm... The core of the formation was exposed.

For example, once they encountered a tough guy who used strange moves. Fang Duobing and Li Lianhua were trapped for a while. Di Feisheng didn't even see the opponent's moves clearly. It was simply because the opponent's sword energy swept the corner of Li Lianhua's clothes that he instantly became furious. Beifeng Baiyang used all his internal strength and beat the opponent's leader to the point where he couldn't take care of himself within three moves, and easily resolved the battle.

Fang Duobing was stunned at first, then became numb, and finally even learned to take advantage of this: "Mr. Li, there seems to be movement over there! (Actually, there isn't)" - Di Feisheng would immediately and vigilantly protect Li Lianhua behind him and look in that direction. Fang Duobing took the opportunity to whisper a few words to Li Lianhua.

Night is still the most difficult time for Li Lianhua.

Because Fang Duobing was just downstairs, Li Lianhua's nerves were constantly on edge. Di Feisheng's "insecurity" soared to the peak in Fang Duobing's presence, and his need for intimacy and relief became unusually frequent and intense.

He would always hold Li Lianhua tightly, as if to confirm his presence. His hot breath sprayed on Li Lianhua's neck, and he asked with anxiety and persistence: "...He is an outsider...You are mine..."

Li Lianhua was both embarrassed and anxious, afraid that any noise would be noticed by Fang Duobing, so she could only lower her voice and half-heartedly satisfy him with her hands. The process was often longer and more tiring than before. Di Feisheng always seemed to use this extreme intimacy to dispel the anxiety and jealousy of the day, only falling into a deep sleep when she was completely exhausted and satisfied.

Li Lianhua, however, was remarkably lucid afterward. He listened to the subtle sound of Fang Duobing turning over downstairs, felt the warmth and stickiness of his embrace behind him, and felt a surge of shame and guilt for having "corrupted a child" (even though Fang Duobing wasn't really a child). He prayed countless times that Fang Duobing would go deaf instantly or that the case would be solved and he'd be gone.

However, in this headache-inducing daily life, some subtle changes are also quietly taking place.

Although Fang Duobing complained about Di Feisheng being "domineering," "unreasonable," and "like a giant pet," deep down, he felt less intimidated by this supreme expert, who had become blunt and even somewhat "childish" after losing his memory, and instead felt an inexplicable... sense of closeness. Especially after Di Feisheng's several accidental "rescues," he felt that this man wasn't so scary after all.

And Di Feisheng, after countless failed attempts to "expel Fang Duobing," seemed to have vaguely realized that this "outsider" couldn't be driven away for the time being, and... didn't seem to pose that much of a "threat" to Li Lianhua? (He meant the threat of stealing people, not a threat to his safety.) His hostility remained palpable, but the extreme temper that threatened to explode and injure anyone seemed to have softened a bit, and he now expressed his dissatisfaction more through childish exclusion and dominance.

Li Lianhua watched all of this unfold with mixed emotions. He was troubled by this bizarre triangle, yet at the same time, he felt that these noisy, chaotic days seemed... a little more... popular than his own aimless wanderings in the building.

However, the price of this "popularity" was too high! Especially his hands and his almost exhausted sense of shame!

The Lotus Tower continues its journey, carrying a fake doctor with a secret and an embarrassment of death, a clingy and jealous former demon with amnesia, and a passionate and innocent young master who is dedicated to solving the case, slowly heading towards the foggy truth. The future is destined to be bumpy, but it will definitely not be boring.
