Chapter 263 Rescue
The voice was shrill and hoarse, coming from a little girl.
The little girl looked no more than eleven or twelve years old, but she was wearing a bright and thin dress. She was standing on the third-floor corridor opposite, holding a pair of scissors in her hands, pointing them at her throat.
That building was obviously a brothel, one level lower than a flower house, and its patrons were all peddlers and hawkers.
The old procuress at the other end of the corridor was accompanied by a few burly men, who were furious:
"I spent a lot of money to buy you! If you don't want to receive guests, then return the five taels of silver and the money I paid for your food and drink over the years, including the principal and interest!"
"If you dare to die, you little bitch, I will strip you naked and leave you in front of the door for everyone to see!"
The girl trembled all over, her face turned pale and she was at a loss.
The old procuress took advantage of her distraction and winked at the strong men. Several men immediately rushed over, snatched the scissors and twisted the little girl's arm before she could react.
The little girl struggled and cried and begged:
"Please! Don't let me receive customers! I can do more work and eat less! Please let me go..."
The old procuress sneered, with venom in her eyes:
"Don't want to receive guests? That's fine too. I'll mercifully give you a choice!"
The little girl seemed to grasp a life-saving straw and kept saying:
"I know that mom is the kindest person, you tell me! I'm willing to do anything as long as you don't let me receive customers!"
The old procuress looked at her sarcastically and ordered loudly:
"Strip her naked and hang her at the door! Doesn't she want to receive customers? Then let her be a signboard for me!"
The blood drained from the little girl's face and her whole body began to tremble violently.
The old procuress looked at her with determination and sneered:
"Aren't you tough? Since you didn't cherish the opportunity to serve me, I'm going to break your tough bones one by one!"
"If you don't want to be hung outside the door as a human skin sign, then you can ask the men on the street for help. When a patron is willing to pay ten taels of silver for your virginity, he will let you go!"
"Tsk, I've seen a lot of little bitches like you, and in the end you still enjoy yourself under men! You'd better be obedient sooner and suffer less. Why are you pretending to be noble?"
Then she waved her hand:
"What are you waiting for? Take it off for me!"
Several strong men, with grim smiles on their faces, began to tear off the little girl's clothes as she cried and struggled heartbreakingly.
But just as the sturdy man in front was about to rip the cloth on his shoulder with a "swish", he suddenly screamed in pain in his wrist.
Immediately afterwards, his other two companions were also hit on the wrists by the flying object.
There was a crisp sound of breaking, and it turned out to be a few teacups.
Several people covered their wrists and howled, looking around for the source.
"Who! Who the hell attacked me?"
The window in front of Yun Qingqing was opened, and she was the one who threw those teacups over there.
"Zhiluo."
She gave an order in a calm voice, then leaped lightly across the street to the third floor opposite, standing in front of the little girl.
"I've been fed up with these scumbags for a long time!" Zhiluo responded.
In broad daylight, she didn't even use any magic. She followed Yun Qingqing and jumped to the other side, and started beating up those strong men.
Several strong men cried for their parents. The old procuress was stunned for a moment, then turned around and ran into the house, shouting for help.
Yun Qingqing took out a cloak from the space, turned around, put it on the little girl, and held her in her arms.
"It's okay, don't be afraid."
Feeling the little girl shivering like a sieve, she comforted her in a gentle voice.
The little girl's trembling gradually stopped, and she stared at her blankly with tearful eyes.
She had a pale and thin face, but her big eyes were pure and bright. She stared at Yun Qingqing without blinking, her eyes full of amazement and admiration.
"Sister, are you... a fairy?" she murmured.
Yun Qingqing smiled calmly, but before she could answer, the little girl fainted.
She sighed, her eyes slightly gloomy.
The madam took the man away and came back, but she had calmed down now. She noticed that the man was dressed in a distinguished manner, so she put on a fake smile and said,
"My dears, this girl was sold to me shortly after she was born. I raised her with great difficulty. If you two like her and want to take her away, you can't let me suffer a loss, right?"
Yun Qingqing said coldly:
"How much silver can you give for her bond?"
Seeing how happy she was, the madam rolled her eyes and made a five, but then changed her mind and made a one.
"...One hundred taels of silver, and this girl will be yours!"
Yun Qingqing sneered, threw a hundred taels of silver note on the ground, then carried the little girl downstairs.
The old procuress didn't care. She picked up the banknote and her eyes lit up and her face was full of smiles.
Zhiluo crossed her arms and looked at the madam with a half-smile:
"Where's the indenture?"
"Hey, here it is. I saw that you two nobles were straightforward and ready!"
One hundred taels of silver was not a small sum in this county town. The madam felt that she had made a killing and handed over the indenture without saying a word.
He even politely escorted the person out personally.
When Yun Qingqing walked out of the door, she saw Xiao Changheng and Nan Zheng had also left the teahouse and were coming towards her.
She looked at the little girl in her arms, her eyes slightly cold, and raised her head to look at Xiao Changheng:
"Do me a favor."
Xiao Changheng seemed to have anticipated what she was going to say, and said calmly with a curl of his lips:
"Although Daliang's laws do not prohibit brothels, they never allow humiliating and abusing women in public. But I think that Ding County is far away from the emperor, and some people don't take the law seriously. It's time to teach them a lesson."
"Nanzheng, go and do it."
Nan Zheng immediately accepted the order.
Yun Qingqing didn't expect that Xiao Changheng already understood what she was going to do before she even opened her mouth. She felt much better and gave him a smile.
"Thank you. I owe you a favor."
Xiao Changheng narrowed his eyes at her and suddenly chuckled:
"Ma'am, how many times do I have to tell you before you remember that you and I are husband and wife?"
Yun Qingqing pursed her lips and didn't want to argue with him.
"Let's go and find an inn to accommodate this girl first."
…
The few of them were already on the busiest street, and they quickly found an inn that looked like the largest and booked a few rooms.
Yun Qingqing was taking care of the little girl, and Xiao Changheng also followed.
He sat at the table and watched Yun Qingqing take the girl's pulse, write a prescription and ask Zhiluo to help get the medicine, thinking about something.
After she finished her work, Xiao Changheng asked:
"Did you come here specifically to look for this girl today?"
Yun Qingqing went to the teahouse with a clear purpose since entering the county town, so he asked this question.
Yun Qingqing nodded and smiled slightly:
"You really figured it out."
