Chapter Seventy: Seizing the Soul

Chen Zhihe couldn't make the decision himself, so he could only turn his questioning gaze to Gu Siye.

Seeing that no one expressed their opinion, the man in the monk's robe pretended to be angry: "Since you don't believe this master, then you should find someone else. But I'll remind you, this young lady's corpse poison has already invaded her lungs. If it's not treated in time, her life may be in danger!"

"Brother, should we perform a ritual for your wife?"

Fu Yanche also spoke up anxiously, "Yes, what are we going to do about Si Ye?"

The monk made a move to leave, but Gu Nianzhi hurriedly said, "Master, please wait a moment, let's discuss this."

In the end, Gu Siye agreed with everyone's opinion. "Let's do it."

The monk's face lit up with joy upon hearing this, but he tried his best to suppress the smile on his lips.

Gu Siye asked the monk, "Should the ritual be performed in this hospital, or somewhere else?"

The monk smiled mysteriously and said, "It's not appropriate here. Not only are there many people coming and going in the hospital, but the occasion is also unsuitable. How about this, take this Miss Li back to my residence. If you're worried, you can watch the whole thing."

Hearing the monk speak frankly and openly, the group followed his advice and led Li Zhiyi to an old house in a winding alley in the north of the city. As soon as they arrived, Gu Nianzhi got goosebumps and couldn't help but mutter, "Master, why is it so cold here?"

"Hmm, it's probably because it's never seen the light of day. If you're feeling cold, have a cup of hot tea." The monk walked to the side, poured a cup of hot tea from a kettle, and handed it to Gu Nianzhi.

Gu Nianzhi reached out and took it, but did not drink it. Her upbringing taught her not to drink or eat anything given to her by strangers in unfamiliar places, and her sister-in-law often told her not to eat anything given to her by strangers.

So she kept a close eye on things, and seeing the monks busy setting up the magic array, she put her hot tea aside.

Looking at the strange furnishings in the room, and the extremely dark and damp atmosphere, Gu Siye's doubts deepened. Could it be that a master lives in such a dilapidated place?

At this moment, the monk nimbly began to set up the formation. He placed a circle of white candles on the ground, had Li Zhi lie in the middle of the candles, then tied a red rope around Li Zhi's wrists, and cut his finger on the offering table above the candles.

He dripped his blood into the offering bowl on the offering table, muttering incantations, but no one could understand what he was saying.

The monk picked up the incense sticks in his hand, lit four sticks, and placed them in the incense burner. Then he walked back to the middle of the white candles and sat down, wrapping the red string around his finger.

The monk drew a talisman in the air, and the talisman slowly emerged and floated in the air. However, the talisman was blood red and had a bloody smell. The monk touched the talisman.

The talisman flew to Li Zhiyi's front, trying to stick it on his forehead, but it just kept circling above his head and couldn't get close to him no matter what.

It was clear the monk was very anxious; he was sweating profusely, his fingers were constantly making hand gestures, and he kept chanting incantations. With a bang, the blood-red talisman spontaneously combusted in the air.

The monk coughed up a mouthful of blood and quickly sat down to meditate and take deep breaths to calm himself.

At this point, everyone was puzzled, and Gu Siye's doubts deepened even more. Why did this monk perform these strange rituals, and why was the talisman blood-red with a bloody stench?

In that instant, Gu Siye felt that this person might be a fraud.

As the monk began to drip his blood onto the crimson talisman, the talisman appeared even more vibrant. The monk chanted, intending to summon the talisman to continue applying it to Li Zhiyi's forehead.

Gu Siye loudly stopped him, "Wait a minute!"

The monk turned his head and gave a strange smile. Then, a blood-red talisman flew out of his hand, trying to freeze Gu Siye in place. But strangely, the talisman only circled around Gu Siye once before returning to his side.

He realized while in the hospital that the man before him was no ordinary person; this man possessed the destiny of the Purple Star. His initial plan was to first seize the woman's soul and control her, then kill her. Killing one or two was the same as killing someone today! He was determined to have this man too.

Gu Siye saw the cruelty in his eyes and immediately shouted, "This man is a liar! You all need to leave quickly and find help!"

Upon hearing this, Gu Nianzhi rushed to Li Zhiyi's side without hesitation, pulling her into his arms to protect her: "You are not allowed to hurt my sister-in-law."

Chen Zhihe quickly called his friend to ask what was going on, but the call couldn't be connected.

He sensed something was wrong and tried to summon his bodyguards, but the monk's talisman flew out, freezing Chen Zhihe and Fu Yanche in place. They stared at each other, not knowing what to do. Chen Zhihe was filled with regret, blaming himself for the trouble he had caused with the person he had hired. Now what could he do? He might even die here today.

"I'm sorry, Mr. Gu. I never imagined that my friend of many years would dare to betray me. I'm the one who has ruined you all!"

Gu Siye assumed a fighting stance, gathering his strength and charging fiercely towards the man sitting between the white candles. The monk used magic to levitate directly into the air, and Gu Siye almost hit him several times, but each time he missed.

The monks were playing a game of tag, deliberately fooling Gu Siye. Gu Siye had never been tricked like this before, and he was furious but helpless against the monks.

The monk felt he had had enough fun, so he reached out and grabbed Gu Siye from the void, pulling him close. Although his talisman couldn't harm him, he used a rope to tie Gu Siye up.

Then the monk sat down again in the middle of the white candles and summoned the blood talisman again. Unfortunately, even though he used all his strength, the talisman did not dare to get close to Li Zhiyi.

He was furious and planned to kill someone to vent his anger. He believed that by killing a person and eating their soul, his magical power would be even greater than it is now.

He spotted Chen Zhihe and appeared in front of him in a flash. "Today is your death day. Blame yourself for trusting people so easily."

"You sorcerer! Enough with the nonsense! I'll haunt you even in my mortal life!"

The monk laughed as if he had heard the biggest joke in the world: "Interesting. It's a pity you won't even have the chance to become a ghost. You'll soon find out how your soul will beg for mercy. I'm going to devour your soul alive, hahahaha."
