Chapter 72 Gu Siye is dead

Gu Siye pressed the alarm button inside the elevator several times, but there was no response. Li Zhiyi said, "Don't waste your time, it's useless!"

Then Li Zhi drew a soul-destroying talisman in his hand, pasted the talisman on the elevator door, and the elevator immediately started operating normally, then stopped at the top floor.

Li Zhiyi stepped out of the elevator, and Gu Siye followed. The sultry evening breeze was like a hypnotic, and Li Zhiyi felt his mind become drowsy.

Li Zhi unknowingly walked to the edge of the top floor and looked into the distance. The night view was quite beautiful at first glance, giving one a sense of overlooking all the buildings.

Gu Siye stood silently beside her, then suddenly gave her a mysterious smile before resolutely jumping down.

Li Zhi hurriedly reached out to grab Gu Siye, but failed. At this point, she no longer cared about revealing her strength and directly threw out a travel talisman, flying downstairs.

Unfortunately, she was too late and couldn't catch Gu Siyue, who was falling. By the time she got downstairs, Gu Siyue was already lying there quietly, with a large pool of blood still flowing around him. Many people were screaming in terror, their cries extremely piercing.

Li Zhiyi covered her ears, trying to block out all the noise from the outside world, which was making her head ache!

At this moment, Gu Nianzhi also rushed out of the building. Seeing that her brother was dead, she could not accept the blow and fainted.

Fu Yanche remained kneeling on the ground, crying and howling in pain. Chen Zhihe frantically made a phone call, but when the ambulance arrived, it only glanced at the patient, shook its head, and left.

Generally, ambulances refuse to take a person unless the person is beyond saving and has stopped breathing. The ambulance may feel that there is no need to take the person to the hospital, and will choose not to take the person, allowing the family to handle the deceased's body themselves.

Li Zhi felt dizzy and disoriented. How could he have died? How could he have jumped off the building by himself? It was all so unbelievable. She felt as if she were lost in a fog, unable to understand why this had happened.

Finally, Gu Siye was taken away in a car arranged by Chen Zhihe, and Li Zhiyi followed closely to the funeral home. Watching the people coming and going at the funeral home, each person's face remained expressionless.

She asked Fu Yanche, who was standing beside her, blankly, "How is Gu Nianzhi now?"

"It's alright now. The doctor just called to say that she's been given a sedative and is asleep."

Li Zhiyi hummed in agreement, feeling ashamed to face her grandfather. Out of the corner of her eye, she saw Chen Zhihe standing beside her with a grief-stricken expression. She didn't know what to say, as if it were all because of her. If she hadn't come to Thailand, Gu Siye wouldn't have died. She was the one who killed him.

"Please accept my condolences!" Chen Zhihe said this word of comfort in silence.

After a long silence, Li Zhi finally asked, "Has Grandpa Gu arrived yet?" Grandpa Gu had rushed over overnight by private jet after learning that his grandson was gone, but Gu Siyue's father made an excuse not to come, saying that since the person was dead, it didn't matter whether he came or not.

"Not yet, someone has already been sent to the airport to pick them up." Li Zhi felt a tightness in his chest, as if someone was choking him, making it hard to breathe.

When Li Zhiyi met Grandpa Gu, Grandpa Gu absolutely refused to let Gu Siye be cremated here. He insisted on taking his grandson back to China for cremation, saying that his grandson had already died in this foreign land and was pitiful enough. He couldn't let his grandson's soul wander abroad with nowhere to rest.

Gu Nianzhi burst into tears upon seeing her grandfather. Although she didn't blame Li Zhiyi, Li Zhiyi felt heavy-hearted, believing she owed the Gu family a life.

She didn't know what to do to make amends. Just then, a voice beside her kept saying, "I can help you revive Gu Siyue... are you willing?"

Who's speaking? Li Zhi turned her head but didn't see anyone. She shook her head, thinking it was just her imagination.

Li Zhiyi also knew that Chinese people have always valued returning to their roots, so in the end everyone took Gu Siye's body back to China on a private plane.

On the plane, Li Zhizhi had a splitting headache, and a voice kept echoing in his ears, "Beg me, beg me to save him, if you beg me he can live..."

"Who are you? Why don't you dare show yourself?"

"Beg me, beg me to be your savior, I am the god who can save the world!"

Li Zhiyi knew it must be a hallucination caused by her excessive grief. She wanted to clear her mind, so she went to the funeral home's restroom alone, washed her face, and looked up at herself in the mirror. She looked haggard, her once charming and affectionate eyes were now filled with bloodshot veins, making her look completely bloodless and pale as paper.

She gave a bitter smile and was about to leave the restroom when she couldn't help but glance back at herself in the mirror. In that instant, she suddenly realized something.

She found herself somewhat unfamiliar in the mirror. She leaned closer to look at her eyes and discovered that there was no reflection in her own eyes, and they didn't move.

And she wondered when the gold hairpin she was wearing had been moved to the right side. She had always worn it on the left side, and she hadn't rested during this time, nor had anyone come near her.

She slapped the mirror, shattering it. The fragments then gradually coalesced in the air, visibly reforming themselves. Everyone says a broken mirror cannot be mended, but this broken mirror was able to become brand new again.

This only means one thing: she is not in the real world; she is trapped in an illusion.

At that moment, her mind became clearer, and her thoughts cleared from the confusion.

The fact that it was an illusion means that the fall was also fake, Gu Siye did not die, and it was all a hoax; someone had cast a spell to trap him in an illusion.

So when did she start to fall into the illusion? She thought for a moment, and realized that it was right. In the elevator, when she threw out the talisman, she felt a little dizzy. The person who created the illusion was quite skilled, so even she was deceived.

She closed her eyes and began chanting the Heart-Cleansing Mantra. When she opened her eyes again, she found herself standing in an elevator, with Gu Siye standing beside her, motionless as if he were asleep.

He was clearly also trapped in an illusion, which is why this strange phenomenon occurred.

Li Zhi finally breathed a sigh of relief, thankfully he hadn't lost himself in the illusion.
