A big dream

A big dream

Wu Ergou didn't know what she was thinking. Seeing that she was weak, he thought she realized her mistake, so he picked up the stick as thick as his arm and was about to beat her up.

Wu Meilai looked up and saw the face of a smug villain. Furious, her morale soared several times, and she roared, "Come on! If you don't kill me today, I'll kill you!"

Rather than being criticized after her affair with a woman was exposed, she thought: It is better to die early, it is better to die early.

She stood up, like a water ghost who was dragging someone down with her, her eyes full of sinister intent.

Wu Ergou was startled, not knowing what medicine she had taken wrongly, but he was certain that she was serious.

Seeing that no one could hold her back, Wu Ergou spat and limped back into the house, saying harshly, "I think you've lost your mind. Tell your mother to take you to see a doctor right away."

He opened the door tremblingly and was immediately startled to see a figure standing behind it. Upon closer inspection, he realized it was the girl from the Zhou family. Despite the current embarrassing situation, his pride made him force a smile, "Little sister, are you here to play with Wu sister?"

Zhou Qianling ignored him and looked at Wu Meilai worriedly.

When their eyes met, Wu Meilai turned her head away abruptly. Behind her was her aunt-in-law who had gone out to check the situation. She was so panicked that she almost fainted.

"What's wrong with your face?" the aunt asked Liu Guiyan.

Liu Guiyan just sighed, "What a sin, what a sin, this home doesn't feel like a home anymore." Then she sobbed.

Seeing that she couldn't get anything out of Liu Guiyan, the aunt walked over to Wu Meilai, glanced at her and Zhou Qianling, and whispered soothingly, "Your friend is still here, don't let your father be upset."

She looked at Zhou Qianling and said, "I had a cold yesterday and went to bed early. I heard you two talking before I went to sleep. In the middle of the night, I vaguely heard you two were still chatting. Come to my house and continue the arrangement. Don't worry about her father."

She winked at Zhou Qianling, meaning that she should talk to Wu Mei and persuade her, but as soon as she finished speaking, she heard the younger one start sobbing.

Wu Meilai covered her face with her hands, tears streaming down her face. It was the relief of realizing after drowning that it was just a dream.

"What's wrong? Why are you feeling so wronged?" The aunt was surprised and stroked her back to comfort her. Wu Meilai burst into tears and just buried her head and shook her head.

Seeing this, the eldest aunt thought that Wu Ergou had just pissed her off. She angrily blamed her brother-in-law, saying, "You, as a father, only know how to drink and have fun every day. The little money you have is swindled away by others. If it were any other girl, she would have run away long ago. Why would she care about the life and death of her own elderly parents? Where can you find a girl as obedient as your sister? Why are you so ungrateful?"

When Wu Mei heard her aunt-in-law defending her in every word, she cried and sobbed until she was out of breath.

Wu Ergou didn't dare to speak loudly to others. He just stuck out his neck and muttered in defense: "Who raised her to this age?" In short, his voice became smaller and smaller.

My aunt ignored him and softened her tone to comfort him, "It's okay to cry. If you keep it bottled up, something bad will happen one day. I see you're losing your energy day by day. It's rare to make a friend, so it's good to talk."

She thought that Wu Meilai's outburst today was because she had a long talk with Zhou Qianling last night and it opened her eyes.

Zhou Qianling saw her crying sadly and came over to comfort her, but she turned aside to avoid his hand that was about to rest on her shoulder.

His palm froze in mid-air, his brows furrowed.

"You go back first." Wu Meilai spoke in a hoarse voice and very quickly. After she finished speaking, she lowered her head and went into her uncle's house.

The aunt-in-law apologized to Zhou Qianling, saying that she was in a bad mood today and hoped that she would not mind. Then she and Liu Guiyan went into the house to see her.

Liu Guiyan kept saying the same things, scolding Wu Ergou and then urging her to be patient. Her aunt, on the other hand, scolded Wu Ergou and then told her that she had done the right thing today, except that those few beatings were too scary.

Wu Meilai listened absentmindedly. After knowing that her affair with Zhou Qianling had not been exposed, her emotions gradually stabilized. In addition to being afraid, she also made up her mind to completely break up with Zhou Qianling.

Otherwise, if this continues, something big will happen sooner or later.

The anxious mood continued until the evening, when Wu Meilai was woken up by her aunt in a daze.

The first thing I saw was an anxious face, "Sister, sister, take your mother to the town to have a look."

He spoke so quickly and urgently that Wu Meilai's heart skipped a beat. She hurriedly asked, "What's the matter?" Then she stood up and went to the living room.

Liu Guiyan was lying on the ground, covered in rice and water, with a swollen face, eyes, and mouth. She was talking in a dull voice, her words incoherent.

"Mom." Wu Meilai shouted.

No response.

Aunt: "Just now you were chatting with me happily, and when it was getting dark, you said you wanted to make dinner. Then, while washing rice, you fell to the ground."

"I'm afraid I've hurt my head today. Aunt, please give me a hand."

Before the motorcycle was returned, the two men helped Liu Guiyan to stand behind Wu Meilai. Worried that Liu Guiyan would fall, they found a rope to tie her up with Wu Meilai.

Although it is dangerous, there is no other way. Not to mention whether you can find a car at this time, even if you can find one, you can't wait.

Fortunately, Liu Guiyan was just talking nonsense and didn't move.

The motorcycle was moving slowly under the dim sunset. The plum blossoms on the roadside were in full bloom, covering a vast expanse of white.

Wu Meilai had no intention of appreciating the scenery. She was looking at the road while paying attention to Liu Guiyan's condition.

"How can you be so patient?" she murmured softly.

When beaten, he doesn't fight back. When he vents his anger to the heavens, he just tells them to let him take it in. Even when he's clearly not feeling well, he still comforts others, chats with them as if nothing happened, and cooks dinner.

"How can you be so patient? Are you a tool? Don't you feel pain?" Wu Meilai said angrily: "You deserve it."

The person behind him didn't respond, but just muttered some random words stupidly.

The town's hospital was not on the main street, so Wu Meilai took a shortcut and almost overturned the car due to the bumpy road conditions.

Finally I got to the hospital, but the huge building was empty. I called and asked, and they said the doctor was not available and had gone home, so I came right over.

Wu Meilai waited for another half an hour and urged the doctor twice before he finally came back.

After a brain CT scan, the doctor was vague about the condition, saying only that there were shadows here and there. Wu Meilai didn't understand and asked what medicine he wanted to prescribe, but he said he would give her an IV first to see how things went.

Knowing that she probably couldn't see anything, Wu Meilai immediately called for a car to go into the city. Coincidentally, there was a car in the town. When the two students returning to school heard that their situation was urgent, they got off the car and made room for them.

Wu Meilai was filled with gratitude, but time was of the essence, so she simply exchanged numbers and got in the car. She even asked the two girls to help drive the motorcycle to the slaughterhouse where she often purchased goods for safekeeping.

When we arrived at the city's Grade A hospital, it was already late at night and there were not many people in the hospital, but the lobby was brightly lit and the staff on duty were at their posts.

It didn't take long for Liu Guiyan's CT scan results to come back. It was caused by a small amount of blood stasis compressing the brain nerves. Currently, a craniotomy wasn't necessary, but she would need hospitalization and medication.
