meeting
In the police station lobby, a group of people sat on both sides.
Zhou Qianling and Jiang Chunmei sat quietly on the right, and on the other side were Ji Nan and their guardians, their eyes looking as if they wanted to eat someone.
After everyone finished taking statements, the police had a general understanding of the cause of the incident.
A group of idle male students from a technical school blackmailed students from No. 1 Middle School. After being beaten up, they felt resentful and secretly planned to teach them a lesson.
However, because she was under 18 years old and no serious harm was caused, she could only be criticized and educated verbally. Instead, Jiang Chunmei, who had a tooth knocked out, would be detained for excessive self-defense.
"The main thing is that several male students ran away, and you chased them and beat them up. This definitely can't be considered self-defense."
Having been a police officer for decades, she knows that the law is ruthless. In such cases, she generally prefers to let the two parties mediate privately.
Before she could speak, a middle-aged man shouted, "We don't mediate in our family. Look what happened to my son after he was beaten."
The police officer was most afraid of this kind of strong-limbed, simple-minded scoundrel, so he suppressed his temper and patiently explained, "The cause was that your son and his gang ambushed this lady in secret."
"I don't care. He's just a child. You're such a grown-up, but you're still arguing with a child."
Jiang Chunmei couldn't help but laugh: "Haha, a 17-year-old, 5'8" kid." She said nonchalantly, "I'm not interested in mediation. These students kicked and hit me so many times, the video captured it clearly. My head hurts, my hands hurt, everything hurts. I need medical expenses, mental damages, lost wages..."
It turned out that after Zhou Qianling found out that Jiang Chunmei was being beaten, he first called the police, then found a suitable place to put his mobile phone, and then rushed out to help her.
A woman stood up and apologized, "I'm so sorry. I'm a man with more beard than brains, and I don't think before I speak. This is my fault for not raising my son well. I will definitely teach him a lesson later."
She changed the subject and said, "But my son was knocked unconscious by you, so he learned a lesson. I think..."
Ji Nan was furious when he heard this. "Aren't you supposed to pay me for my medical expenses and mental damages?" He complained to his mother, "Mom, it was her! She banged my head against the wall!" At this point, he became furious again and gritted his teeth, "I should have just stabbed you to death!"
The police officer and Jiang Chunmei were both shocked.
What shocked the police was that the man might have mania and antisocial personality and needed a mental evaluation.
Jiang Chunmei asked directly, "Us? Who else do you want to take revenge on?"
The skilled man gloated, "It's just your weak accomplice. Now I guess..."
Before he finished speaking, a sticky male voice rang out from outside the police station: "Sister, I was wrong, please forgive me, it hurts."
Zhou Qianling turned his head to look, his pupils trembled, and his upright sitting posture became even straighter.
The glass door of the hall was pushed open by a foot, and Wu Meilai came in with a knife in one hand and a man's collar in the other. She didn't look at the people present, but politely reported to the police: "A stranger came into my house in the middle of the night."
The policeman held his forehead and asked, what happened tonight?
"Big Head?! How could you..." The skilled man couldn't believe it when he saw his accomplice's face and clothes were covered in blood.
Wu Meilai heard the sound and looked over, only then did she notice Zhou Qianling standing in the hall with his eyes fixed straight ahead.
Her heart trembled, and then a feeling of bitterness spread.
Zhou Qianling must have seen him.
"Eh? Sister? They want to take revenge on you?"
The amount of information contained in this sentence is enough for people to speculate on the current situation. Wu Meilai greeted Jiang Chunmei and looked at Zhou Qianling, but the man didn't even glance at her.
She never thought that the situation would be like this when they met.
No matter how complicated his mood was, Wu Meilai looked calm and composed. He pushed the intruder to the side of his brothers and followed the police to take a statement.
The story was simple. The scoundrel, through some stroke of luck, had gotten the code right, and Wu Meilai was standing behind the door, knife in hand. When the door opened, she thought it was a ghost, yelled, and swung the knife. Luckily, the scoundrel flinched at the sound, and the knife missed his neck, glancing off his cheekbone.
It was just a little bit short of cutting his nose off.
"Wait, you thought it was a ghost, why were you slashing with a knife?"
"I've never seen a ghost, but maybe I can chop it down? It's much more useful than sitting on the ground and screaming."
The police officer who was interrogating her thought it was reasonable and let her go.
After a night of hard work, the whole incident was finally sorted out.
The class representative for the first-year Chinese class that Qian Lingxin was teaching was a junior high school classmate of one of the scoundrels. The scoundrel must have known some secret of the class representative and was using it to blackmail her. After being taught a lesson, he thought Wu Meilai had come with Jiang Chunmei, so he assigned someone, the scoundrel called Big Head, to teach her a lesson.
Datou knew about the situation in that room and was determined to torture Wu Mei mentally. He would either walk around the door and knock at it in the middle of the night or leave shoes at the elevator door.
But Wu Meilai fell asleep immediately every day, and could not hear any knocking on the door or footsteps, and she kicked her shoes aside.
However, he had installed a miniature camera on the door in advance, and could roughly see the direction of Wu Meilai's fingers as she entered the password. So when the thugs were about to attack Jiang Chunmei, he planned to just go in and torture her. He even imagined that if there was another case of dismemberment, this house would never be rented out again, haha.
Of course, he wouldn't confess all this.
He even received some medical expenses, becoming the sole beneficiary of this incident, while his brothers had to pay tens of thousands of dollars in expenses.
As for Jiang Chunmei, because she refused to mediate, she received compensation but had to spend a few days in jail for excessive self-defense.
Before being taken away, she blew her hair on her forehead and told Zhou Qianling: "Remember to tell Sister Wang for me that the class will be postponed for a week."
The relevant personnel gradually dispersed, leaving only Wu Meilai, Zhou Qianling, and several policemen in the hall.
Neither of them spoke.
In the past, Wu Meilai would only speak after Zhou Qianling had initiated a conversation. But now, Zhou Qianling would only occasionally ask the police about the detention center's rules and environment. Once she understood enough, she would turn around, push the door open, and leave, as if she didn't even recognize the other person in the room.
Seeing Wu Meilai still in the hall, the police officer thought she was dissatisfied with the outcome, so he gently comforted her, "If you appeal in your case, you can recover your medical expenses, but it will be time-consuming and laborious. It's better to spend a little money to avoid disaster."
Wu Meilai came back to her senses from the back figure outside the door and forced a smile: "Thank you, officer, I know."
The glass door opened and closed, and the hall became solemn again.
Several police officers sighed at the same time. The law is not merciful. They have been handling cases for so many years and always encounter situations where the punishment for crimes is insufficient or even non-existent. There is nothing they can do except sigh.
——
"Number 7, someone is watching you."
Jiang Chunmei was wearing a blue shirt and reciting the prison rules against the wall with her eyes closed. When she heard the words, she opened her eyes, put on her cloth shoes, and followed a police officer.
Seeing the person outside the iron window, she was stunned for a moment, "Sister Wang, why is it you?"
Wang Xiaoli sneered, "I'm so sorry for wasting your time."
Jiang Chunmei smiled awkwardly: "No, I'm so happy that you can come to see me."
She had gauze wrapped around her head, had lost a tooth, and had a noticeable lisp in her speech, which made her look a little funny.
Wang Xiaoli didn't smile at all, just stared at her quietly, as if she really just came to "see" her.
Jiang Chunmei was stared at so much that she shifted her butt left and right on the stool, feeling very uncomfortable.
"Sit still." The prison guard spoke to correct her sitting posture.
Jiang Chunmei immediately straightened her chest and raised her head, standing steady and composed.
"Are you still injured?" Wang Xiaoli suddenly asked.
"It's not serious." Jiang Chunmei answered in a serious tone, as if reporting to her superior.
Wang Xiaoli rarely laughed, stood up and said, "Thank you for your hard work." Then she left a Euphorbia milii flower on the windowsill and left.
The flowers hadn't been registered, so they would probably be swept into the trash. Jiang Chunmei looked at the little red in the dark tones and felt a little touched.
