Chapter 154 Because it's Sasuke

Chapter 154 Because it's Sasuke

In the morning, her mother squatted down and looked at her intently. "Although we have a good relationship with Sasuke's family, we are now facing a conflict between the Uchiha and Konoha."

“Haruko, you’re already a Chunin, but as my daughter, you can still choose to go out or stay at home.”

"Judging from the way the Uchiha are besieging you, they won't do anything to you if you stay at home. But if you choose to come with me to check on the situation in Konoha... you should be prepared to face Sasuke as an enemy."

Knowing firsthand the inherent flaws of Konoha's higher-ups, and having once been a member of the group guarded by them, she could understand why the Uchiha clan, ostracized, resorted to a coup.

However, while I can understand her situation, ultimately she was fighting for Konoha, not for the higher-ups.

Haruko's heart tightened upon hearing her words, but she quickly replied, "I want to go with them!"

"Good, you're truly my daughter!" The mother gripped her hand tightly in the morning, her eyes brimming with pride.

Haruko followed her downstairs. At the gate, Haruko's father was negotiating with the man in black.

"Do you know how serious the consequences of your clan's actions will be!" the father roared in the morning.

The black-robed man standing in front of him replied in a calm voice, "You'd better stay inside obediently. We haven't made a move out of consideration for the clan leader's kindness."

Haruko observed carefully in the morning and indeed found three more men in black robes outside the gate, making a total of five, including the one she saw at the window.

Morning Mom put on a gentle expression, stepped forward and pulled Morning Dad back, apologetically saying, "I'm sorry, he was just too excited. Actually, we can understand. We all know what Konoha has done to the Uchiha over the years."

Seeing the understanding in her tone, the man in black robes softened slightly, thinking that it was fortunate she was on good terms with the clan leader's family, making her easier to deal with.

In the morning, Mom changed the subject, "But are the two behind us okay?"

Upon hearing that she was being addressed, the two Uchiha who were standing further away looked at her, but instead fell directly into a genjutsu cast by Hayama's mother. Hayama's father, who was pretending to be irritable, also stepped forward and took them all down in perfect coordination.

Subconsciously using her pupil technique, Mom's eyes were stung again this morning, so she quickly deactivated the technique.

Upon hearing the noise at the front door, the two Uchiha who were monitoring from behind rushed over. Having been reminded by the clan leader about the eye techniques used earlier that morning, they immediately pulled down their hoods to cover their eyes when they first caught a glimpse of their fallen teammate.

However, this also prevents them from using the Sharingan, which is unavoidable. Although they are both proficient in genjutsu, the illusions woven by the Gyōma Sharingan are a powerful tool that even the Uchiha clan cannot break through for a while.

However, the two of them were only wary of the morning mother, and underestimated the strength of the morning father.

After taking down the Uchiha members, they headed straight for the Hokage Building. The chaotic noises on the street made them tense, guessing that the Hokage Building was probably already surrounded.

As expected, Uchiha clansmen were standing all around the Hokage Building. The Jonin who had arrived earlier were only a minority. It seems that Itachi Uchiha of the Anbu had played a role in encircling Konoha so tightly.

The battle was about to begin. The man in black robes did not relax his guard just because Haruko was still a child, and he targeted their family specifically.

This morning, Mom was unusually irritated because she couldn't use her full strength. "That Fugaku guy! Stop targeting us who can use illusions!"

"Darling, calm down, you can't use your eye technique right now!" Her father took a moment to comfort her earlier that morning.

Haruko Hayama: ...Mom and Dad, don't you want to look at this scene?! Even the enemy looks confused!

Taking advantage of the enemy's distraction of the two of them, Haruko's mother gave her a wink, and Haruko immediately seized the opportunity to slip through the enemy's encirclement and rush into the Hokage Building.

The enemy was about to give chase, but was stopped by the parents in the morning.

"What kind of person are they who only bully children?"

Haruko wandered through the Hokage Building in the morning, but she didn't encounter a single person, perhaps because everyone was focused on guarding the outside. The building was eerily quiet.

Just as she was about to run upstairs, a kunai flew towards her, interrupting her. Haruko quickly stepped back to dodge, and the kunai landed in front of the stairs.

Looking in that direction, they saw Uchiha Sasuke, whom they hadn't seen for several days. His eyes were cold, and he was also wearing the black robe that symbolized the Uchiha clan.

Haruko noticed that his Konoha headband was gone.

"Sasuke."

Haruko Hayama had been a little nervous on the way, but seeing him made her calm down.

Uchiha Sasuke neither responded nor made any move to attack. The two stood facing each other, silently gazing at one another.

Haruko took a deep breath and broke the silence, "Is this what you've been busy with lately?"

Her seemingly casual words only fueled Sasuke's anger. He clicked his tongue, frowned, and took out a kunai, holding it across his chest as if to tell Haruko that he really would take action.

Unfazed by his words, Haruko took a few steps closer to him. "I always thought I knew you well, but it seems I don't know you very well after all..."

Sasuke Uchiha scoffed, his eyes filled with disdain. "You're only realizing this now?"

"...Sasuke, it's kind of funny how you pretend to be a bad guy." Haruko Hayama's words turned the tense atmosphere into an awkward one.

"..." Uchiha Sasuke tried his best to maintain his cold expression.

Having caught his subtle emotions, Haruko Hayama, based on his behavior, was certain that he was indeed faking it. She breathed a sigh of relief, and her expression softened.

"Honestly, if Sasuke wanted to participate in the coup, he should have told me first!"

Hearing her complaining, Sasuke Uchiha was taken aback, then asked urgently, with a hint of unease, "If I told you, would you support me?"

“Of course…no.” Haruko Hayama replied with a heavy sigh.

"...Then what do you want to say?" Uchiha Sasuke couldn't help but show a speechless, deadpan expression.

Haruko, however, retorted righteously, "But I'll personally give you psychological counseling! I'm an expert at that kind of thing!"

"..."

Uchiha Sasuke gripped the kunai in his hand tightly; for a moment, he truly wanted to storm off in anger.

He originally thought that he and Haruko Hayama were absolute opposites, and no matter what their relationship was like or what feelings he had, their future would be hopeless.

Therefore, Sasuke Uchiha simply raised his thorns, hoping that Haruko Hayashi would give up and back down.

I didn't expect Haruko Hayama to consistently display her idiotic traits...

Uchiha composed himself, regaining his cold demeanor. "Leave now, or don't blame me for not showing any mercy."

As Haruko stubbornly continued walking forward in the morning, Sasuke Uchiha gritted his teeth and threw the kunai in his hand at her calf.

The kunai was much slower than when he was actually fighting, but Haruko couldn't dodge it in the morning, and her left leg was scraped and bled by the kunai.

“You…!” Sasuke Uchiha’s eyes widened, and he was momentarily at a loss for words.

He knew that Haruko was very afraid of pain and always pitifully tried to get him to pay attention to the parts she couldn't see.

Unexpectedly, Haruko Hayama didn't flinch at all when faced with his kunai. Although she was stopped in her tracks, she let out a muffled cry of pain and then stared at him with even more determination.

"Why didn't you dodge..." Sasuke Uchiha clenched his fists hidden in his black robe.

Haruko suddenly smiled gently, "Because it's Sasuke."

"What?" Sasuke Uchiha didn't understand.

"Because you are Sasuke, I will accept everything about you."
