Chapter 170 You Absolutely Must Not Forget Me

Chapter 170 You Absolutely Must Not Forget Me

"And what about Kurenai Yuhi? What is your dream?" Haruko looked at Kurenai Yuhi, who was secretly smiling beside him.

When her name was called, Kurenai Yuhi pondered for a moment, "If it were me... I would probably become the strongest and most beautiful ninja in the world."

Might Guy was shocked and slammed his fist on the table. "What? Red is going to become my nemesis too?!"

Unexpectedly, this caused him to react angrily. Kurenai Yuhi, not wanting to receive the same exclusive treatment as Kakashi Hatake, quickly changed her tune, "I meant the most powerful and beautiful female ninja!"

"I see, then I can't compete." Matt Kai was a little disappointed at first, then gave her a thumbs up and laughed heartily, "Let's work hard together!"

"..." Kurenai whispered again in Asuma Sarutobi's ear, "Asuma, thankfully you're not at all like Kai."

Sarutobi Asuma, who didn't want to be compared to that hot-blooded guy: ...

"So, the dream of thick eyebrows is clear, next up is Rin!" Haruko ruthlessly skipped over the overly enthusiastic idiot and steered the conversation back to the topic.

Without hesitation, Nohara Rin confidently stated her long-held belief: "I want to become an excellent medical ninja and save every wounded soldier on the battlefield!"

Haruko nodded knowingly, "Yes! Rin and a medical ninja are a perfect match!"

"Really?" Nohara Rin blushed slightly, a little embarrassed by the public praise. "Thank you, Haruko!"

Finally, it was the last one's turn. Haruko casually pushed forward, "So, what is our arrogant Kakashi's earth-shattering dream?"

"...If you don't want to ask, then don't ask." Kakashi Hatake's face darkened.

Haruko explained seriously, "Obito asked because he wanted to know."

"I didn't!" Obito Uchiha retorted, both embarrassed and angry that he had been pushed out to take the blame. But he had indeed been exposed and had his secrets exposed. He subconsciously glanced at Kakashi Hatake.

"...?" No way...

Kakashi Hatake clearly hadn't expected that this tsundere would actually want to know his dream. He was a little awkward, and replied nonchalantly, "I think I'll become a hero like my dad."

Obito Uchiha couldn't bring himself to say "tsk," but didn't nitpick as usual.

Haruko led the applause, and as Kakashi Hatake's expression grew increasingly embarrassed, she earnestly commented, "Kakashi has a truly great dream!"

"It's alright..." Kakashi Hatake picked up his teacup and took a sip, trying to hide his excitement at being recognized.

Haruko added, "After all, compared to your arrogant personality, this dream seems too normal!"

“…” Kakashi Hatake choked on his tea and gave a deadpan look.

What exactly was he expecting this idiot to say?

Kakashi Hatake retorted defiantly, "Is that so? Then I'll see what lofty dreams you have."

Seeing everyone at the table looking at her, waiting for her answer, Haruko said earnestly, "My dream is... to protect you all, to protect all the bonds we share."

This was the only dream that concerned all of them present. Looking at Haruko's solemn expression, they felt a sudden surge of emotion, as if they were being cherished by her.

Everyone else's dream is to strive for themselves, but her dream is to protect them and strive for them.

Haruko noticed that they were all looking at her with expressions of relief and emotion. Even Kakashi Hatake and Obito Uchiha looked at her with a deeper gaze. Haruko, not understanding why, picked up a dumpling and started eating.

They're so strange, why are they looking at me like that?

Did I make too grandiose promises? But how can I better secure my own interests if I don't let them know my "sincerity"?

Haruko felt she was incredibly intelligent and chose to let their emotions spread.

I've already said it, no one can match her persuasive skills!

After parting ways with them at the dango shop, Haruko and Obito Uchiha walked side by side on their way home.

Suddenly, Haruko's pace slowed down until she stopped.

Obito Uchiha turned to her, asking with a puzzled look, "What's wrong, Haruko?"

"I am a little concerned," Haruko murmured, her head bowed.

"What are you worried about?" Obito Uchiha leaned closer to listen and, sensing that she was in low spirits, tentatively took her hand.

She looked up, her eyes filled with confusion. "I really want to see that sister who turned into a star again today."

"Stars? What stars?" Obito Uchiha was full of questions, not knowing who the stars she was referring to were.

Haruko was taken aback, then asked somewhat urgently, "Obito, have you forgotten? It was Kakashi who mentioned the strange older sister!"

Obito Uchiha frowned in displeasure. "Why are you bringing that guy up again? Do you remember Kakashi's words so clearly?"

Unexpectedly, he was angry about this. Haruko stomped on his foot in a huff, and while Obito jumped up in pain, she walked away quickly without waiting for him to finish.

"Wait for me, Haruko!" Obito Uchiha fought back tears and hopped on one foot to catch up with her.

Fortunately, the two of them had been arguing for quite some time, so Haruko quickly and earnestly began to explain to him the hero who turned into a star, even though she didn't know much about it herself.

"Did Kakashi really say that?" Obito Uchiha still couldn't recall anything about it, so he gave up and asked about something else. "Why would Haruko want to see her?"

Haruko pondered for a moment, then took his hand and led him forward, organizing her thoughts as she walked, trying to express her strange feelings.

"It feels so familiar. Everything along the way has been so familiar. The long-haired man, the white spiky hair, and that beautiful woman... and everyone who came to mourn with flowers is so familiar."

"I don't know why I have this feeling. My heart is warm, and my eyes are hot. It's as if I can see my future death through that stone tablet. I wonder if I will be buried in there when I die?"

"But if so many people came to see me, like that heroic sister, I would be very happy and wouldn't feel lonely, because so many people remember me, wouldn't they?"

"They remember me, and that makes me feel like I'm still alive..."

As night fell, they quietly walked to the entrance of the memorial.

Obito Uchiha stopped walking, and Haruko, whom he was holding, stopped as well.

Bathed in the soft moonlight, Obito Uchiha looked at her with unwavering determination, "Haruko won't die, I will protect you forever!"

Haruko gripped his hand tightly, saying anxiously, "But everyone dies eventually..."

"No way!" Obito Uchiha interrupted her loudly, smiling as he assured her, "I will never forget Haruko, so Haruko will not disappear!"

Although she was still a little shaken, Haruko was much happier because of his promise.

Haruko extended her little finger to make a pinky promise with him, "It's a promise, Obito, you absolutely, absolutely can't forget me!"

"Okay! It's a deal!"

Two small figures, bathed in moonlight, made a lifelong promise in the silence of the world.

Lying is the act of a puppy.
