Chapter 173 I am a Flower Fairy
Fugaku Uchiha frowned almost imperceptibly as the Third Hokage brought up his sister.
Could it be that Haruko has tricked someone again? Or has she kidnapped a child?
The only person who seems to be related to the Third Hokage is his son, Sarutobi Asuma...
No way, Haruko offended the Hokage's son?!
As Fugaku Uchiha thought about it, his face grew increasingly grim, and he exuded a chilling aura, causing the Uchiha clan members sitting beside him to feel a sinking feeling in their hearts.
Why does the clan leader suddenly look so grim? Is he about to make a move?
Hiruzen Sarutobi's subordinates also tensed up, ready to be on guard at any moment.
When Fugaku Uchiha came to his senses and realized that the situation was tense and oppressive, he was momentarily confused.
Why does everyone suddenly look like they're about to start a fight?
Hiruzen Sarutobi coughed lightly, pretending not to notice the atmosphere around him. His expression softened slightly as he continued, "That child isn't yours, is she? Tell me about her."
Taking a deep breath, Fugaku Uchiha was certain that Haruko had indeed caused some serious trouble, but seeing that the Third Hokage's tone remained unchanged, it was still necessary to investigate what mistake Haruko had made.
Despite thinking it over and over, Fugaku Uchiha maintained a serious expression and replied, "Yes, Haruko is a child I met a few years ago in Uchiha territory. After all, it was a time of war, so it wasn't unusual to have homeless children..."
Fugaku Uchiha recalled his encounter with Haruko when he was patrolling the streets.
"Captain, a child has been found in the alley ahead!" His subordinate rushed over to report.
"child?"
"Yes, they look like homeless children."
Fugaku Uchiha frowned. Although the war was nearing its end and Konoha was far from peaceful, with families being torn apart and people dying frequently, it was still too unbelievable that a homeless child would appear in Uchiha territory.
Leaving behind the words "Let's go take a look," Fugaku Uchiha followed his subordinates into the alley.
As they walked into the damp, dark alley, they found a thinly dressed child huddled up. Hearing them approach, the child didn't flinch; instead, she curiously raised her dark eyes to observe them.
"Captain." The subordinate looked at Uchiha Fugaku, and after receiving his affirmative nod, he stepped forward and squatted down in front of the homeless child.
"Little boy, what's your name?" The subordinate subconsciously softened his voice when speaking to the child.
The hoarse, dry voice of the homeless child came through, "Haruko... my name is Hayama Haruko."
"In the morning?" the subordinate asked in surprise. "They're not from the Uchiha clan."
Seeing her nod, the subordinate continued, "How did you get into Uchiha territory? Where are your parents?"
Haruko shook her head. "I have no family."
Presumably she had fled into Uchiha territory because of the war, her subordinate took out a handkerchief and awkwardly wiped the dirt off her face, revealing her original delicate and spirited appearance.
Amazed by her beauty, her subordinates jokingly asked her, "Kid, you're so pretty, are you a boy or a girl?"
But she lowered her head, clearly not wanting to talk to him, which amused her subordinates. "She still has a temper, huh?"
Fugaku Uchiha stood there observing her reaction. She showed no fear or trembling, unlike someone who had survived a war. She was probably an abandoned child.
What to do with her is a problem, since she's not a member of the Uchiha clan.
Her subordinates found her amusing and teased her, "Call me 'brother,' and I'll take you out to eat, okay?"
Haruko glanced up at him, then turned her bright eyes to Uchiha Fugaku. To their surprise, Haruko stood up, walked closer to Uchiha Fugaku, and tentatively tugged at the hem of his clothes.
Fugaku Uchiha subconsciously pursed his lips, his expression naturally turning fierce. Just as his subordinates thought another child was about to cry, Haruko looked at him expectantly and said, "Can I go home with you?"
Fugaku Uchiha and his subordinates looked at each other in bewilderment. The subordinates were shocked that a child was not afraid of their captain, while Fugaku Uchiha was at a loss because he had never coaxed a child before.
As expected of the captain of the Konoha Police Department, Fugaku Uchiha instantly calmed down and asked her, "Why? You are not a member of the Uchiha clan."
The implication was that she would never be adopted by the Uchiha clan, no matter what. Haruko seemed to understand what he meant, and tears welled up in her eyes. Under the panicked look of Uchiha Fugaku, she began to cry weakly.
She cried as she said, "But...but I love you...I want you to be my family..."
Perhaps out of kindness, or perhaps because he was touched by the pure affection of a child for the first time, Fugaku Uchiha took her home.
"However, if you want to become my family, you must change your surname to Uchiha."
Looking at the girl who looked completely refreshed and sat obediently at the table, Fugaku Uchiha thought carefully and decided to tell her.
Haruko was a little resistant, "But I..."
“The Uchiha clan represents a responsibility and a form of protection.” Fugaku Uchiha did not dismiss her because of her young age, but responsibly informed her of his requirement to adopt her.
"If you want to join the Uchiha, you must forget your previous surname, but you can keep 'Haruko'."
Seeing the seriousness and determination in his eyes, Haruko hesitated for a long time, but the thought of "being able to get her family" prevailed, and she slowly nodded.
She will be Uchiha Haruko from now on...
Her origins are still unknown, and adopting her out of pity might bring some trouble, but since she has already come to his home, all Fugaku Uchiha can do is to completely protect her under the Uchiha's wing.
Fugaku Uchiha had never had any experience taking care of a child before. Especially after discovering that she was naturally weak and prone to illness, he became even more attentive to taking care of her and even went to consult with clan members who had children.
At first, I was pleasantly surprised that she wasn't afraid of me, but later I was annoyed that she really wasn't afraid of me at all.
Originally, seeing that she was bored at home alone, Fugaku Uchiha found her a lot of children's books to help her pass the time, but she learned some strange and unusual things from them.
"I am a flower fairy. Because my territory was invaded by enemies, my people were scattered and I ended up here!"
Hearing her muttering to herself in the room, Fugaku Uchiha reluctantly went into the room and brought her some hot milk.
What are you acting out now?
As he entered, Haruko excitedly grabbed his arm as he approached. "Fugaku, don't you think this experience is similar to mine?"
"What looks like what?" Fugaku Uchiha asked, looking at the book she handed him.
"I was also abandoned. The flower fairy was also abandoned by her people because she was unpopular, so I can be a beautiful flower fairy!"
Her innocent and naive answer rang in Fugaku Uchiha's ears. When he saw the joy and expectation in her eyes, Fugaku Uchiha was momentarily at a loss for words.
Finally, he raised his large hand and stroked her head, saying in a gentle voice, "Haruko is different. Haruko is a flower fairy loved by the world."
"No one...no one would not love you."
