Chapter 189 Resentment and Hatred
"Is Orochimaru a scientist?" Perhaps because of his status as her boyfriend, Haruko couldn't help but want to know more about him.
"Biological sciences," Orochimaru added in detail.
Haruko glanced around at the various sophisticated instruments in the lab and asked curiously, "So what kind of research are you doing right now?"
"Do you want to know?" Orochimaru leaned closer to her, his alluring face full of interest.
Haruko had a bad feeling, but curiosity prevailed, and she nodded hesitantly.
Orochimaru flicked his tongue, intently watching her reaction. "I'm researching immortality."
"Immortality?" Haruko was slightly taken aback, not expecting such a fantastical research. "Immortality is impossible, isn't it?"
"That's not necessarily true..."
When it came to their professional field, Orochimaru seemed to want to present her with all the results of his long-term research, analyzing the possibility of immortality for her in simple and easy-to-understand language.
"I see..." Haruko looked at the radiant Orochimaru and thought it was better to respect other people's interests and hobbies.
Orochimaru suddenly smiled and looked at her, "Speaking of which, all of this research originated from you."
"Me?" Haruko's eyes widened. Could it be that she used to want to live forever?
Understanding her meaning, Orochimaru walked to her side and slowly leaned forward until Haruko was sitting in the chair with nowhere left to retreat. His snake eyes then freely traced her outline.
"After spending so much time together, I've realized... I can't seem to live without you, so I guess I'll just have to make sure you can't live without me either."
His ambiguous words puzzled Haruko, so she mustered her courage and grabbed his long hair on both sides just as he was about to get up, pressing him urgently for an answer: "So what is it?"
Despite being pulled back, Orochimaru showed no displeasure at the pain; instead, he leaned closer with satisfaction, letting his handsome face completely fill Haruko's vision.
"I will grant you immortality, so that you will never be hurt or die, and you will never be able to leave me."
His tender yet chilling words were like a curse, deeply enveloping Haruko, from which she could not escape.
Just as Haruko was speechless at his obsession, Orochimaru suddenly stepped back and slowly unwrapped the densely wrapped bandages on his left hand, revealing a section of his fair arm.
As more and more bandages fell off, Haruko's complete arm was revealed. There were words carved on his forearm, not very neatly, as if each word was nailed to it, muttering resentment and hatred towards the owner of the name.
It says above...
Haruko.
"Isn't it true that what is unforgettable is profound?"
Ignoring the panic in her eyes, Orochimaru intensified his actions, using his hand, which was covered in writing, to caress her cheek, unleashing his pure, dark desires without reservation.
"And...who gave you permission to die?"
...
"Oh, Haruko! Why are you back so early today?" the vegetable vendor greeted her.
But the Uchiha clan leader's sister ran off like the wind, completely ignoring what she said.
"Strange..." The vegetable vendor lowered her hand in confusion.
Haruko ran non-stop through the streets. Since she was back in Uchiha territory, people kept greeting her along the way, but she ignored them all and rushed home.
After returning to her room and locking the windows and doors, Haruko finally lay down on the bed to relax.
Her mind was in turmoil. One moment she saw Orochimaru calling her affectionately, the next she saw the bloody arm with her name carved on it, and then...
A vague and indistinct memory belonging to another person.
She seemed to see Orochimaru as a child, with his cold face, and she also seemed to see Orochimaru as a young man, arrogant yet letting her tease him... Finally, the image froze in the pouring rain, showing Orochimaru's deep and terrifying dark golden snake eyes.
The cries of many people filled his ears, along with Orochimaru's sharp, piercing voice of anger—
"Who gave you permission to die?!"
Tears kept welling up in her eyes. As Haruko lay on the bed, she felt her eyes get hot and then dry up, soaking into the sheets.
Is this her?
Is she dead?
But she's still alive...
The fleeting memory seemed to last only for a moment. When Haruko tried to recall it again, she found that she couldn't remember it at all.
Who exactly is she?

Minato Namikaze led them in shuriken training.
Faced with a barrage of shurikens, they tacitly swung their kunai to block all the attacks, except...
"Watch out!" Kakashi Hatake swiftly reached out and knocked away a shuriken that was aimed directly at Haruko.
Nohara Rin checked her over anxiously, "Are you hurt?"
Seeing Haruko shake her head, Nohara Rin breathed a sigh of relief. "Don't space out, Haruko. What's wrong with you lately? You're often spacing out during training too."
Haruko noticed something and pointed at Obito Uchiha, saying, "Obito seems to be in trouble."
Attracting everyone's attention, Obito Uchiha hurriedly put his hand, which had been cut by a shuriken, behind his back, "Me? I'm fine!"
Haruko walked over to him and grabbed his hand without any room for argument. Looking at the blood on his palm, Haruko's mood plummeted.
"I'm really fine!"
Obito Uchiha laughed and pretended not to be in pain. When he noticed that Haruko was silent, he carefully looked down and was surprised to find that she was crying. Obito Uchiha was at a loss for what to do.
"Haruko, don't cry!" Obito Uchiha tried to reach out to wipe her tears, but she dodged him.
“Obito is injured, but I’m so sad…” Haruko choked up, tears still welling up in her eyes and falling.
Hearing her words, Obito Uchiha felt both happy and heartbroken. "I didn't cry, so you shouldn't cry either."
Haruko suddenly looked up, revealing a tear-streaked face. "If I die, will Obito cry?"
Obito Uchiha was taken aback, not expecting her to ask such a question. His eyes turned serious, and he slowly shook his head, telling her again, "I won't let you die, Haruko."
A hint of confusion flashed in Haruko's eyes. In her hazy memories, she died, and everyone cried bitterly. The sound of crying mingled with the sound of rain, making it impossible for her to identify who was who.
She had always thought that crying was a way of showing that she cared about someone, but what she remembered most vividly was Orochimaru's fierce and ruthless face. He was lying on the ground, reaching out to grab her, but he couldn't touch her no matter what he did.
Orochimaru did not weep for her death; instead, he stared at her with resentment.
But why? Why does she think Orochimaru is so sad?
Haruko felt a dull pain in her chest. When she saw the blood on Obito Uchiha's hands, she was reminded of the inscription on Orochimaru's arm.
I can't believe how much force he used, that his wound still hasn't healed...
The naive and ignorant Haruko probably didn't understand Orochimaru's complex feelings—his hatred for her stemmed from an inexplicable love.
"We are all ninjas, and life and death are beyond our control," Kakashi Hatake said, walking over and interrupting their conversation.
Obito Uchiha glared at him. "Can't you speak properly?"
Rin Nohara ran over with bandages, "Hurry up and treat the wound. Obito should have told us if he got hurt!"
The sounds of their conversations continued to rise around them, but Haruko still couldn't understand Orochimaru's intense and viscous feelings for her.
