Chapter 203 Lin's Birthday
"Um! I'm a flower fairy who fell to earth. Why don't you treat us to ice cream, and I'll give you my castle later!" Haruko replied excitedly.
This was the first time she had met her match, a girl who shared the same interests as her!
The slender girl chuckled and pointed out, "Dividing the castle is too much of an exaggeration. It's not as reasonable as my family's wealth. Be careful not to scare people away."
Nohara Rin's lips twitched. No one would believe her if she told them about dividing the family property...
"I see, I understand now!" Haruko exclaimed, looking as if she had just learned something and had a sudden realization.
Nohara Rin quickly tugged at her sleeve again, afraid that she would be led astray by the conversation, "Haruko!"
Reminded by Nohara Rin, Haruko finally remembered why she had stopped the person. She looked at the friendly-smiling girl in front of her and asked, "What's your name, sister?"
"Before asking someone else's name, you should say your own name first." The slender girl remained unmoved and pushed the question back to them.
Haruko introduced herself without hesitation: "My name is Haruko, and this is Nohara Rin. Now, can you tell us, sister?"
Under her expectant gaze, the slender girl smiled and said, "My name is Mei-ling, Takeuchi Mei-ling."
Takeuchi Mirei… Haruko silently repeated it in her mind. She liked the name and she liked this older sister.
After being asked for her name, Haruko whispered quietly, "Isn't Meiling the same member of the ANBU from before?"
Mirei Takeuchi pondered for a moment, looking somewhat troubled, before suggesting, "Or perhaps you could rephrase your question?"
Nohara Rin seemed to understand something and quickly asked, "Is Mirei-neechan a friend of Minato-sensei?"
This issue is no longer so sensitive. Takeuchi Mirei nodded in satisfaction, acknowledging her identity, and even gave them a shushing gesture.
"The identity of an illegitimate daughter who has been living away from home cannot be easily exposed, so could you two little sisters help me keep this a secret?"
Rin and Haruko both nodded, indicating that they would not tell anyone.
Takeuchi Mirei patted their heads and said with satisfaction, "You're such good kids. If we meet again, I'll sacrifice some of my meager fortune to treat you to ice cream."
After saying that, she left. Watching her departing figure, Nohara Rin asked Haruko in a low voice, "So she really was the older sister from that day. Haruko, how did you recognize her?"
“Intuition.” Haruko’s eyes lit up. “Rin, I like her so much.”
...
On Nohara Rin's birthday, having been informed of their plans in advance, she was not saddened that her teammates and teachers had forgotten her birthday. Instead, she struggled to suppress a laugh in front of Haruko.
Sneaking up to Haruko, Nohara Rin whispered, "Haruko, so this is what it feels like to watch a show. It's so much fun!"
"Lin has finally understood this kind of happiness? Hmm, that's great!" Haruko proudly patted her shoulder.
Meanwhile, Obito Uchiha, who sensed something was wrong, secretly pulled aside his ally Kakashi Hatake and Minato Namikaze to discuss the matter.
Obito Uchiha was somewhat puzzled, "Why does Rin look exactly the same as usual?"
"Do you really want to see her sad?" Kakashi Hatake asked a potentially disastrous question.
"Of course not!" Obito Uchiha quickly retorted, then weakly added, "But it just feels like things didn't go as expected..."
Minato Namikaze scratched his head in frustration. "Could it be that Rin really doesn't mind that we forgot her birthday? Hmm... I feel a pang of conscience."
In fact, Obito Uchiha felt the same way, but as the one who initiated the battle, he would not easily admit defeat!
"Yosh! I've got an idea! Why don't we just say we're disbanding, and then pretend we're all going home, but secretly follow Rin and surprise her?"
After Obito Uchiha finished speaking, he nodded in agreement, seemingly quite proud of his exceptional intelligence.
"You can continue being childish, I'm not participating anymore." Kakashi Hatake left his group chat.
"Hey! Kakashi!" Obito Uchiha was incredulous that he had withdrawn at this critical juncture, and was somewhat exasperated.
Minato Namikaze reluctantly stopped Obito Uchiha from chasing after them, and gently persuaded him, "Obito, the battle wasn't a failure. Why don't we give Rin a surprise now?"
Since the teacher had spoken, Obito Uchiha could only sullenly reply with a "Okay".
Rin Nohara acted very well, pretending not to know that they had forgotten her birthday and then suddenly gave her a surprise. At least it made Obito Uchiha feel a little better after being rejected by their upgraded version of the operation.
Obito Uchiha said smugly: I knew my battle was perfect!
Rin Nohara suppressed a laugh: Obito is so pitiful.
Gratefully accepting their gifts, Nohara Rin was most looking forward to Haruko's gift.
Under everyone's watchful eyes, Haruko handed her a candy jar decorated with colorful ribbons. "This is a candy jar that I painstakingly collected while suppressing my cravings. It's filled with everyone's blessings!"
Haruko pointed to the various candies in the glass jar and introduced them to her, "These fruit-patterned candies were a gift from Jiraiya, they're fruit-flavored blessings; these filled candies were a gift from Tsunade, they're said to have a sake-flavored filling; these chocolates were a gift from Fugaku, he took them from my allowance candies; and this one..."
As Haruko carried the glass jar that shimmered with iridescent colors under the sunlight, Rin Nohara couldn't help but let her gaze drift to Haruko's face, which was glowing with rainbow light.
It was Haruko, beautiful, radiant, and the only one beside her...
Haruko's soft, sweet voice kept ringing in my ears, and it felt as if the world consisted only of the two of them—the two closest and dearest of all relationships, until the image of their most radiant smiles was captured.
Nohara Rin counted the fluttering of her eyelashes, traced the slight opening and closing of her lips, and noticed her pupils occasionally glancing at her reflection.
I wish I could gaze at you like this forever.
I want to look at you.

As the head of the Uchiha clan, Fugaku Uchiha's marriage was the focus of attention for the entire clan.
Haruko and Obito Uchiha, who were in charge of buying the forgotten items, were greeted with enthusiastic questions from everyone.
"Oh, it's Haruko! You'll have a sister-in-law soon!"
"I haven't met Haruko's sister-in-law yet. It seems I'll have to make a special trip to visit her later!"
"Chengzi, take this, oh, please accept it!"
"..."
Obito Uchiha had always sensed the clansmen's extraordinary enthusiasm for Haruko, but today he was having a particularly difficult time leading her through them.
"It's like a celebrity going out on the street... Even your brother wouldn't have this kind of spectacle if he came in person, right?" Obito Uchiha complained, wiping the sweat from his face.
Haruko painfully put down the bags she was carrying. She had only come out to buy some things, but instead of buying anything, she had brought back a lot of gifts from her clansmen.
"Fugaku's influence... is terrifying." Haruko's face darkened, and she vowed not to go out for the next few days.
Obito Uchiha leaned closer and whispered, "But I'm also very curious, Haruko, what kind of person is your sister-in-law?"
After careful consideration, Haruko said firmly, "She's the person I want to marry!"
