Chapter 221 The Liar

Chapter 221 The Liar

Obito Uchiha twitched his fingers, as if trying to lift them to wipe away her tears, but they wouldn't obey him.

Understanding his thoughts, Haruko hurriedly and carefully took his left hand and pressed it tightly against her cheek. Feeling the warmth of his palm, large tears streamed down her face.

"Obito, you can't die! Didn't we agree... that you would take us back? You finally awakened the Sharingan, you have to go back and make everyone proud of you!"

"Didn't you promise me... that you would become Hokage... and let me see you save the world?!"

"Liar...liar!"

"I'm the only one who's lying to you... How could you... How could you lie to me!"

Unexpectedly, her tears flowed more and more, even threatening to suffocate him as he calmly accepted death. Uchiha Obito tried to hold back his tears, but the throbbing pain in his heart wouldn't stop.

He's a proud Uchiha... How could he... How could he cry in front of the person he loves...

Haruko murmured, "Liar... He promised to let me lie to him for the rest of his life..."

Kakashi Hatake, who was standing nearby, suddenly noticed that shimmering white light was gradually appearing around Haruko, making her seem otherworldly, serene and gentle.

"Haruko?" Kakashi Hatake tentatively asked.

Haruko didn't reply. She just stared blankly at Obito Uchiha's pupils gradually dilating and the hand on his cheek losing strength, forced to accept the impending reality.

The fact that Obito Uchiha died.

Is it only when facing death that one begins to regret...?

Obito Uchiha's thoughts wandered aimlessly; he still had so many things left undone.

He became a Jonin and defeated Kakashi, prepared a birthday present for Haruko this year, promised to visit Granny Cat's shop again, taught Itachi powerful ninjutsu, took Haruko to meet Granny Cat, trained desperately to become Hokage, and more...

He protected Haruko, accompanied Haruko, and grew up alongside her, and then...

marry.

I want to marry Haruko.

I want to form the happiest family in the world with Haruko.

Why do people who have already let go of their worries start to regret not having accomplished so many things when they are about to die?

Is it because you can't bear to part with it?

Perhaps so; he really couldn't bear to be away from Haruko for long...

Without him by her side, Haruko will definitely eat too much candy again, and when she has a toothache, there will be no one to comfort her.

When she goes out and sees something she likes, no one pays for it for her. It's really heartbreaking to see her so disappointed when she can't get what she wants.

After he's gone, will she go and abduct other people?

Like him, he would keep an eye on her, argue with her, awkwardly forgive her, carefully protect her from getting sick, and earnestly correct her that he should be the one marrying her...

Obito Uchiha couldn't help but chuckle. In Haruko's words, "Is this Obito Uchiha 2.0?"

Unfortunately, he didn't even have a chance to complain about her...

How could he leave her alone if he couldn't witness it...?

As expected... he's still arrogant...

Staying by Haruko's side... the most suitable person...

Only him...

Obito Uchiha's eyelashes trembled, and he sank into a state of listlessness and despondency.

"Obito".

He thought he heard Haruko's voice...

"You won't die."

Don't be so sure, or he'll start crying again...

Upon hearing Haruko's instantly composed words, Kakashi Hatake paused, staring at her softly glowing back with a complex expression.

"Kakashi, use your Chidori to shatter the stone."

"But……"

"Hurry up, Kakashi!" Haruko's tone became serious as she turned to him, revealing her eyes radiating platinum magic circles. "Obito... he's in a lot of pain."

Without time to ask, Kakashi Hatake forced himself to move, channeling his chakra into his palm.

"Chidori!"

With a deafening roar, the stone pressing down on Obito Uchiha was suddenly crushed, and countless fragments exploded with air currents, forcing Rin Nohara behind him to raise her hand to protect herself.

Haruko had already bent down and used her slender body to completely shield Obito Uchiha from the impact of all the stones before Kakashi Hatake could make a move.

Ignoring the pain from the rubble cutting her back, Haruko rose slightly and smiled at the unconscious Obito Uchiha.

"Don't be afraid of Obito, I'm here."

Before Kakashi Hatake could ask her what she was doing, Haruko casually picked up a sharp stone and plunged it into her heart without hesitation.

As Kakashi Hatake pulled the stone out of her hand, blood splattered out, much to Kakashi's astonishment.

In the darkness of the world, she radiated the only light.

His thoughts were as muddled as paste. In his daze, Obito Uchiha seemed to see ripples of green grass, blooming and then gathering again.

Did he see it wrong...?

Then he felt a gentle warmth spreading through his body, soothing his pain until it filled his right side. Gradually, he regained sensation in his right hand.

The fatigue and drowsiness vanished, replaced by a genuine and abundant vitality.

Obito struggled to focus his gaze, and when the image became clear, he saw the pale smile of the person he had been longing for.

"Haru...ko? I...I'm not dead?" Obito Uchiha stammered.

"With me around, even the Grim Reaper would have to walk several blocks before seeing Obito," Haruko said playfully, trying to ease his confusion.

Realizing he was not dead, Obito Uchiha inevitably breathed a sigh of relief. However, this feeling of relief did not last long, because he saw the dark red blood silently flowing from Haruko's heart.

"Haruko, you're bleeding?!" Obito Uchiha suddenly widened his eyes.

He gritted his teeth, trying to get up to examine the situation more closely, but Haruko pressed him back down with an undeniable air of authority.

Its strength was weak and frail, but it was very useful against the equally weakened Obito Uchiha.

"It's just a minor injury, it'll be fine soon." Haruko continued to place her hand on his body, finishing up his injuries. "Rin, it's your turn now."

Upon hearing her name called, Nohara Rin immediately got up and rushed over, not even bothering to wipe away her tears.

But her gaze was fixed on Haruko's heart. Nohara Rin shook her head, sat down next to her, and focused on taking over Haruko's actions.

The moment Haruko withdrew her hand, her body went limp, and Kakashi Hatake, who had been keeping a close eye on her, rushed over to support her.

"Thank you, Kakashi..." Haruko gave a weak, shallow smile.

Kakashi Hatake tightened his embrace around her, his eyes subtly sweeping over her chest, now soaked in blood. Her once pristine white kimono was now stained with blood, a sight so horrifying it left him speechless.

Before he could even consider it, Haruko closed her eyes and fainted.

"Haruko!"

Kakashi Hatake was anxious. After checking that she had indeed just fainted, he forced himself to open the medical kit and treat her wounds.

Upon hearing Kakashi Hatake's shout, Obito Uchiha panicked again. No matter how Rin Nohara tried to dissuade him, he forced himself to look into Kakashi Hatake's arms despite his recent recovery.

"Is Haruko alright?!"

"It's nothing," Kakashi Hatake replied briefly, focusing on bandaging Haruko's wound.

Even after getting the answer, Obito Uchiha couldn't put his mind at ease and wanted to go over to confirm it, until he was scolded by Rin Nohara.

"Obito, calm down!" Nohara Rin's tone was unusually angry. "Haruko went to great lengths to save you, not so you would mess up your own body!"

Upon seeing the anger in her eyes, Obito Uchiha fell silent and stopped moving.

It's all because of him... that Haruko...

In the end, he still couldn't protect Haruko...
