Chapter 301 The Destruction of Konoha

Chapter 301 The Destruction of Konoha

One of the major side effects of the drug is drowsiness. Every time she drinks it, Haruko has to sleep for several hours before she can wake up.

However, I felt refreshed and full of energy when I woke up.

Overall, the medication was effective despite the small dosage.

Pushing open the door, Haruko had intended to go find Orochimaru and the others, but after navigating several winding corridors, she didn't see a single person.

Although Orochimaru prefers quiet and there are only a handful of people in the base, it shouldn't be like this where you can't run into anyone.

Almost instantly, Haruko realized something was wrong.

She rushed to the monitoring room. Orochimaru had given her full access to the base, so she could move freely within it.

Upon entering the monitoring room, the large mechanical room was filled with monitoring screens.

Aside from private areas, such as the Hokage Building, where surveillance is not allowed, the surveillance system covers almost the entire Hidden Leaf Village.

Initially, Hiruko invented a mechanical bird for monitoring enemy intelligence during wartime. After Konoha achieved peace, it was mostly used to monitor illegal and disorderly activities within the village.

Haruko hurried to the control panel in the morning, and after a few clicks, all the images in the base were displayed in front of her.

A quick glance revealed that apart from the guards at the main gate, there was no one else in the base.

She then pulled up Konoha's surveillance footage, which was quite extensive, but even a few of the footage that popped up at random made Haruko Hayama shudder.

The Akatsuki attacked Konoha, and the entire village fought against them.

She also spotted Orochimaru and his group, presumably on their way to support Konoha.

This, however, shows that the situation in Konoha is so critical that even Orochimaru, who is far away outside the village, needs to intervene.

None of the several square and orderly images were chaotic.

Flames and thick smoke formed a swirling backdrop as enormous, terrifying spirit beasts roamed the village, and the villagers fled in panic.

Despite prior preparations, Xiao's combat strength was even greater than anticipated.

The ninjas of Konoha had to fight monsters and evacuate villagers while also engaging in fierce battles with Akatsuki.

Even though Konoha has a large number of people, they cannot fully utilize their abilities within the village and are at a disadvantage.

Akatsuki must have been very confident in his abilities, otherwise he wouldn't have barged directly into Konoha without any disguise, wearing the same red cloud and black robes.

Haruko spotted Kakashi Hatake among the many scenes; he was fighting two enemies alongside Choji Akimichi and his son.

However, the situation is not optimistic. The land around them has been largely destroyed, leaving only ruins and piles of stones.

Kakashi Hatake and Choji Akimichi, father and son, had numerous wounds, while the orange-haired man in the black robe only had a tear in his clothes.

Haruko's heart clenched in the morning. She frowned and stared intently at the screen.

The battle continued. Choji Akimichi and his son joined forces to throw out chains and bind the enemy, while Kakashi Hatake took the opportunity to rush forward and unleash his Lightning Blade.

However, the enemy easily blocked it using a double.

Boom—

As the dust settled, Kakashi Hatake, buried in a pile of stones, and Choji Akimichi, father and son, lying unconscious on the ground, were revealed.

"Kakashi-sensei! Choji!"

Haruko was so anxious in the morning that she clenched her fists tightly.

On the screen, an orange-haired man standing aloof on a rock manipulates a nail to suspend it.

His lips moved as if he were saying something.

The next second, the nail flew like a bullet towards Kakashi Hatake, who was unable to move in the pile of rocks.

"Kakashi-sensei!" Haruko Hayama exclaimed.

The sound of a nail piercing a skull was too faint to be heard through the screen, but Haruko seemed to hear that piercing sound for a moment.

Kakashi Hatake's blood-covered body swayed from the impact of the nails and then remained motionless.

He sat there quietly, as if he were just asleep.

Clang!

The sound of a knee hitting the steel plate of the control panel echoed throughout the room.

Haruko's legs were so weak in the morning that she almost knelt down. She gripped the edge of the control panel with her pale hands to support her sliding body.

No, Kakashi-sensei is so strong, he won't die...

It must be...it must be fake...

Before she could even notice the pain in her leg, her terrified eyes stared straight at the enemy who had turned and looked up at the screen.

The orange-haired man stared intently at one spot, his gaze meeting that of Haruko Hayama off-screen.

Those were a pair of lifeless, deathly purple eyes with wavy lines.

Suddenly, the image on the screen cracked like a spider web.

The enemy discovered the surveillance footage and erased it, leaving only a blank screen.

Recovering from her shock, Haruko sat up and, trying to remain calm, tried to find a scene where she could see Kakashi Hatake.

But no.

Konoha's surveillance system is tightly packed, and apart from the agile mechanical bird, there are no repeated projected images.

Haruko Hayama also had no way of confirming Kakashi Hatake's situation.

The village was filled with the smoke of gunpowder, and not a single place was intact.

The blood that had flowed on the ground was covered by the dust that rose up again.

Even though the screams and howls of pain were automatically muted by the program, Haruko Hayama, watching from behind the screen, could still feel their heart-wrenching cries.

As the scenes shifted, Haruko saw countless familiar figures lying on the ground.

Just like Kakashi Hatake, he remained motionless.

In the end, Haruko Hayama slammed her fist on the control panel.

The girl's bent back trembled incessantly, as suppressed anger and grief surged within her.

The horrific scene is beyond description.

Every figure who collapsed and was urgently rescued cannot be easily described or glossed over in words.

Haruko wiped her eyes hard in the morning and rushed towards the door.

When she reached the main gate of the base, she was stopped by the guards standing outside.

"Excuse me, I need to get back to Konoha!"

She looked anxious, but the guards still wouldn't let her pass.

"Miss Haruko, the master instructed us to protect your safety."

Haruko Hayama retorted loudly, "I can protect myself! I can protect them too!"

"The master said that given your current condition, you must stay at the base; this is the safest place."

The ninjas guarding the area were all elite Jonin. Even though Haruko Hayama was skilled in genjutsu, she couldn't delay them for long and would be caught up sooner or later.

In a moment of desperation, Haruko ignored Orochimaru's warning and used a phantom enhanced by her eye technique.

A flash of shimmering white light, and the guards were all caught in an illusion.

Haruko covered her throbbing left eye in the morning and rushed towards Konoha without stopping for a moment.

We flew through dense forests and across long stretches of land.

Finally, Haruko saw the gates of Konoha.

Before she could rush into the village, a heavy, divine voice echoed from the sky.

"From now on."

"Let the world feel pain."

"Shinra Tensei!"

A massive, blinding white light covered Haruko's entire field of vision.

She quickly raised her hand to shield her eyes, catching the booming sound of explosions approaching from afar, and the powerful, rapid airflow impacting her body.

Like the terrifying impact of a typhoon sweeping over her body, Haruko Hayama couldn't resist and was swept away by the airflow.

Suspended in mid-air, many fine sand and pebbles cut her skin.

thump--!

Haruko's back slammed into a tree trunk, and although she stopped, the excruciating pain, as if her spine were broken, made it almost impossible for her to get up.

What exactly happened?

She struggled to open her eyes and looked toward the source of the violent explosion.

It was an explosion that extended from inside Konoha to the outside.

The entrance, which symbolizes the gate to Konoha, has now become a ruin, piled high with rubble from the buildings that have been swept away.

Haruko paused in her attempt to sit up.

She belatedly realized that the explosion had engulfed the entire Hidden Leaf Village.

In other words, Konoha was completely razed to the ground.

Not to mention the people inside.
