Chapter 56 The Shadow of Extremely Thick Eyebrows for a Lifetime
Looking at the new cards in his hand, Kakashi Hatake said slowly, "Oh dear, I'm sorry, the winner of this round should be the teacher."
Upon hearing his arrogant declaration, flames ignited in the eyes of Naruto Uzumaki and Haruko Hayama.
Halfway through the game, while Naruto was frowning and struggling to figure out what card to play, Haruko quickly gave Sasuke Uchiha a wink.
Upon receiving the message, Sasuke Uchiha paused for a moment, then pretended nothing had happened and tilted the cards in his hand toward her. After noticing the gesture she made, he quietly handed her the card she needed from under the table.
Kakashi Hatake, who observed everything: ...
"Haruko, you..." Kakashi Hatake was about to accuse her when Haruko interrupted him.
"Speaking of which, Kakashi-sensei's bookshelf has so many 'romance novels,'" Haruko Hayama threatened with a smile. "It's too messy. Wouldn't it be better to throw some away?"
"Huh? What romance novel?" Naruto Uzumaki looked completely bewildered, not understanding what he was talking about.
The words he was about to say were instead spoken. Kakashi Hatake gave a thumbs up and said, "Haruko has great luck. You're definitely the winner today!"
"Lucky hands..." Haruko's lips twitched in the morning. Was this a compliment or a sarcastic remark?
Finally, the game ended with Naruto Uzumaki as the biggest loser, his face covered in white stripes, which he couldn't even remove.
As Haruko counted the white strips she had removed from her face, she grew increasingly dejected.
Kakashi Hatake and Sasuke Uchiha looked even more dejected than she did. Who could understand the frustration of trying her best to cheat for someone and still not winning more than a few games? From their initial disbelief to the bewildered look between them, they were truly convinced.
They immediately turned their attention to Naruto Uzumaki, who was expected to come in last place; otherwise, the biggest loser today might not be so certain.
Naruto Uzumaki, completely unaware that he was being targeted: Damn it!
Completely unaware of how hard-won her second-to-last place was, Haruko Hayama resolved to go back and practice her Dou Dizhu (a popular Chinese card game) skills diligently, determined to become number one one day.
Glancing at Kakashi Hatake, who looked utterly dejected, Haruko's thoughts raced. Wasn't there a ready-made teacher right there? A mentor's job is to guide and support a student's growth in all aspects, right?
Kakashi Hatake, feeling a sudden chill for no apparent reason: ?
Noticing Haruko's smiling yet meaningful gaze, Kakashi Hatake immediately adopted a serious expression.
"Ahem, the third Chunin Exams are coming up soon, and I've already planned out your training schedule for the next few days."
Haruko Hayama couldn't help but exclaim in surprise, "Kakashi-sensei actually has times when he does serious work?"
"...That's it. I'll take Naruto and Haruko to meet their training teacher tomorrow. As for Sasuke, he'll train with me."
"Okay!" ×3
...
"My teacher...could it be that guy with the super thick eyebrows...no, wait, that giant version of Leonardo DiCaprio?"
Looking at Might Guy, who was passionately driving piles in the distance, Haruko Hayama struggled to keep her gaze from wandering. Things seemed to be going a little beyond her expectations.
Kakashi Hatake pretended not to notice her reluctance and kindly explained, "Don't underestimate him. Haruko's ninjutsu and genjutsu are already excellent, but she is surprisingly bad at taijutsu."
"This Chunin Selection Exam includes Hyuga Neji, who is incredibly skilled in taijutsu, right? If Haruko were to face him, she would be completely powerless."
"So, keep up the good work with your physical training."
After saying that, Kakashi Hatake disappeared on the spot, afraid that if he was a step too slow, he would receive a torrent of complaints and accusations from the students.
Might Guy noticed Kakashi Hatake's departure and finally stopped driving the pile. He then struck a different alluring pose than before towards Haruko Hayama, revealing his signature eight teeth.
"Youth shouldn't be wasted! Haruko, let's write our own story with sweat and tears!"
"...I refuse!"
"Huh?!"
Haruko Hayama felt that although Kakashi Hatake was sometimes unreliable, he was always a teacher who made her feel at ease.
But now...
"I hate you, Kakashi-sensei!!!"
Haruko, with several thick ropes tied around her waist and heavy tires attached to the back, runs through the sunset with tears streaming down her face, listening to Might Guy's passionate lines.
After that, Haruko Hayama lived a life of unbearable suffering.
Every day, the first thing she sees when she opens her eyes is Might Guy striking a seductive pose to greet her, and the second thing she sees when she closes her eyes is Might Guy chasing her relentlessly in her dreams, showing eight teeth.
To this, Haruko Hayama could only offer a friendly smile: Kakashi Hatake, don't let me catch you.
Finally, after threatening suicide, Might Guy allowed Haruko to take a day off. Haruko arrived at the flower shop early in the morning, exhausted.
"Huh? Haruko!"
Yamanaka Ino, who was sitting at the cashier looking around the store out of boredom, got up in surprise and noticed that something was wrong with her. She walked over to her in a few steps and asked, "What's wrong?"
These past few days have felt like an eternity. When she saw her good friend whom she hadn't seen for many years, Haruko's eyes instantly welled up with tears, and she rushed over to hug her.
"Ino woo woo..."
"I'm here, I'm here." Yamanaka Ino was a little flustered; it was the first time she had seen Hayama Haruko cry so bitterly.
After calming down in her arms, Haruko sat up straight, wiped away her tears, and forced an awkward smile. "It's nothing. Youth is all about tears..."
"Huh? Haruko, why are you talking so strangely?"
Haruko cursed those super thick eyebrows in her mind again in the morning.
Damn it! When her physical skills reach their peak, she will definitely defeat that guy with the super thick eyebrows... Wait, even if she had ten more years, she still wouldn't be able to beat that physical monster!
Then let's persecute Kakashi and make him pay for what he did back then!
After a mental exercise of grand pronouncements, Haruko returned to the main point, "I'm here to buy flowers. Does Ino have any flower recommendations for patients?"
"Visiting a patient? Is it Sasuke?"
"Sasuke has been discharged from the hospital. His recovery ability is truly amazing, isn't it?" Haruko Hayashi couldn't help but exclaim.
With her meticulous care and Naruto's well-intentioned but unintentional mischief, Sasuke Uchiha was quickly angered... and soon discharged from the hospital.
"He's currently training under Kakashi-sensei's guidance. Ino can go visit him if she has time."
With each word she spoke, Yamanaka Ino's eyes shone even brighter, until finally he grabbed her face and kissed her, saying, "Haruko, I love you so much!"
Unable to resist her passionate confession, Haruko scratched her slightly reddened ears. "I came to buy flowers for Xiao Li. I had just left when he was competing, and I heard that his injury was quite serious."
Mentioning Rock Lee, Yamanaka Ino's high spirits cooled down. "Haruko..."
Seeing her confused expression, Yamanaka Ino hardened her heart and told the truth, "Given Lee's physical condition, he may... no longer be able to be a ninja."
Haruko's eyes widened, and she opened her mouth as if to ask if she was joking, but when she saw the sorrow in her eyes, her hand slowly clenched.
"I'm going to the hospital to see him!"
Seeing her turn to leave, Yamanaka Ino quickly grabbed her, "Wait! I'll wrap up a bouquet of flowers for you and take it with me right away!"
Haruko lowered her eyelashes in the morning and didn't speak for a while.
"Let's wrap up a bunch of sunflowers."
