Chapter 4 The Golden Retriever's Magical Attack

Chapter 4 The Golden Retriever's Magical Attack

I'm absolutely insane, I'm just insane...

Sure enough, people often make radical decisions that are completely different from what they expected when they are caught up in the atmosphere.

Haruko, looking utterly hopeless, ate her bento box under everyone's astonished gazes, while Naruto Uzumaki, sitting next to her, ate and praised it as well.

I was just being soft-hearted and thought it would be okay to bring some food to the protagonist.

But Haruko Hayashi clearly forgot that, in the eyes of her classmates, she was the first person to become close to Naruto Uzumaki.

Trying to ignore the whispers behind her, Haruko realized she had acted impulsively.

She had already decided to stay away from the protagonist, and besides, given the protagonist's worth, would he need another friend like her? Obviously not!

Who can understand how much her conscience ached when she opened her door early in the morning and saw the adorable golden retriever waiting there!

"Wow, I'm so full! Auntie's cooking is so delicious!"

Naruto grinned and patted his bulging belly without a care in the world.

He didn't notice anything unusual about his classmates at all. Was it because he was used to being stared at by strange eyes, so he was immune to it? Haruko couldn't help but wonder.

No, she had to find a way to salvage the situation!

Speaking of the other main characters... Haruko looked around the class in the morning, feeling a real headache coming on, as she couldn't remember who they were.

"Haruko, are you not full?" After finishing his bento, Naruto noticed that Haruko's bento was still half full.

All he does all day is eat!

You can't even find your best friend and you're still thinking about food!

Haruko was disappointed in him.

But then she noticed the golden retriever peeking at her with its wet, sapphire-blue eyes, looking at her with concern, as if afraid she wouldn't be able to eat... Meanwhile, the wicked child, Haruko Hayama, was still thinking about how to push the golden retriever out.

What if my conscience hurts even more?!

Damn it! That's practically a magical attack!

"I'll eat right away, I'll eat right away!" Haruko ate with tears in her eyes.

I just wanted to say that if she can't eat, I can help her get rid of a certain golden retriever :?

Haruko must be very hungry to eat so much. I should have eaten less and left some lunch for Haruko... Naruto Uzumaki secretly regretted.

The two, whose thought processes were completely disconnected, inexplicably achieved a peaceful situation.

Chewing her food, Haruko thought of another thing that was giving her a headache: that fabricated illness...

"Haruko!"

Naruto Uzumaki looked grim, as if facing a formidable enemy, and his sudden movement of standing up startled her.

"I need to use the restroom, a large one! So you might have to wait a while!"

Haruko swallowed her food with difficulty in the morning. "...You don't need to tell me about this kind of thing, do you?"

"But Haruko will be upset if she finds out I'm not around, won't she?" Naruto scratched his head in distress. "How about Haruko waits for me outside the restroom?"

"..."

So why did she make up this disease in the first place?!

Haruko gently urged him to go to the restroom in the morning, and then sat alone in her seat, turning grayish-white.

No, she needs to pull herself together!

Once the protagonist finds his destined best friend, she can make a glorious exit! That way, the protagonist won't be sad, and she won't have to face danger!

Deeply impressed by the feasibility of this method, Haruko applauded herself in her heart.

Meanwhile, the golden retriever on the other side was also feeling melancholy. He had boasted that he would be by her side anytime, anywhere, but he was in a dilemma when faced with such an urgent matter.

So Naruto began to use his not-so-bright brain to think about why he wasn't a girl.

After racking his brains without success, Naruto Uzumaki sighed.

He was still too busy to handle everything by himself. How could he ensure that Haruko had friends without feeling bad?

Ah! That's right!

Naruto had a sudden inspiration: he could find Haruko another friend so that she would have someone to keep her company when he went to the toilet!

Haruko Hayama: I must find the protagonist's best friend!

Naruto Uzumaki: I must find Naruto 2.0 for Haruko!

The two, whose thought processes inexplicably aligned, vowed to find each other friends.

*

"Morning classmate and that guy are getting very close."

"I really don't understand why the gentle and beautiful Haruko would be friends with that monster!"

"Exactly! Getting too close to that weird kid will bring you misfortune!"

"..."

Lately, there have been more conversations like this in class, and Nara Shikamaru is getting tired of hearing them.

Haruko Hayama, a girl whose popularity rivals that of Sasuke Uchiha, was forced to be noticed by Shikamaru Nara through the gossip of other classmates after entering the school.

She has an adorable appearance and a gentle personality towards everyone. Her ninjutsu is on par with that of the so-called genius boy, Sasuke Uchiha. However, for some reason, she always tries to marginalize herself, especially hiding from Naruto Uzumaki.

She probably didn't realize how obvious her little actions were. While curiously observing Naruto, she stood there blankly, forgetting to hide herself.

Several times, it was only when he couldn't stand it anymore and made noise as he passed by that she snapped out of her daze and immediately hid.

Later, she seemed to realize that her behavior was too blatant, and finally learned to observe from a distance, which actually made Nara Shikamaru somewhat gratified.

This was the first time he had ever seen someone so openly spying on someone, no wonder even that slow-witted Naruto Uzumaki noticed.

So, an idiot is indeed an idiot.

Nara Shikamaru rested his chin on his left hand, casually watching Hayama Haruko sitting below, her expression shifting between frown and smile.

"Shikamaru, what are you looking at?" Choji Akimichi ate his potato chips and followed his gaze downwards.

Nara Shikamaru calmly withdrew his gaze. "It's nothing."

"Haruko Hayama?" Upon seeing that bright and beautiful figure, Choji Akimichi raised his eyebrows. "No way, Shikamaru, you were actually peeking at the popular girl in your class?"

Nara Shikamaru glanced at him speechlessly, "What have you been thinking about all day?"

Despite being looked down upon by him, Choji Akimichi wasn't bothered. He chuckled and grabbed another handful of potato chips. "After all, it's something that people care about. I didn't expect Naruto to be the first guy to talk to her."

As they were talking, Naruto Uzumaki, the protagonist of their conversation, rushed back from the bathroom in a panic. As soon as he entered, he waved his hand to attract Haruko Hayama's attention, as did the other students in the class.

Haruko Hayama: ...

Nara Shikamaru watched as Naruto Uzumaki ran all the way to the seat next to Haruko Hayama. It must not be his imagination; Naruto seemed to have become much more cheerful.

"I really envy Naruto."

Although he was talking about Naruto Uzumaki, Choji Akimichi gave Shikamaru a teasing look.

"..."

What's there to envy? Nara Shikamaru was too lazy to reply. He probably knew Hayama Haruko longer than they did.
