Chapter 1218: Breast Hyperplasia in Children

Sang Tianren and Xiao Baga followed behind without saying a word. They were very honest, almost too honest.

Through his observations just now, Sang Tianren realized that Allens and Adams were extremely polite to Yun Heng. That politeness was not just between colleagues, but was a kind of subconscious flattery, and their attitude was quite humble.

In fact, the main reason was that Sang Tianren did not understand the inside story. Yun Heng had treated Allens before and his skills were very high. This kind of friendship was not just a simple friendship between colleagues. Allens felt a little grateful to Yun Heng, but also a little curious.

Adams is easier to understand. Old Adams has not recovered yet. No matter what the character of the Adams family is, or what their style of doing things is, you have to wait until you have eaten a full meal before beating the chef. If you beat the chef before he has eaten, aren't you waiting to starve?

At this stage, Adams is definitely keeping a low profile.

People are generally better off when they don't ask for help from others. But if someone asks for help, you still have to have the right attitude.

"Director Ma!"

When I arrived at the Department of Traditional Chinese Medicine, I was greeted by the attending physician who had been waiting for me.

“How are patients arranged?”

Ma Tiequan asked.

"In the clinic."

The attending physician led the way and explained the situation.

The patient is a four-year-old child who was transferred from the outpatient clinic. He is currently in the treatment room and has not yet been arranged to be hospitalized.

When I entered the clinic, I saw a young couple in their thirties. The woman was sitting on a stool, holding a little boy about four or five years old in her arms.

The young couple looked normal at first, but when they saw a group of people suddenly coming into the clinic, they immediately became nervous, especially when they saw that there were foreigners among them.

"It's okay, we've already checked out other hospitals."

The child's father hurriedly held his wife's hand and whispered comforting words.

"But people say they're not afraid of Western doctors smiling, but they're afraid of Chinese doctors looking down on them."

The women's voices were filled with tears.

They came to see Chinese medicine, so of course they had seen Western medicine before. Now so many people suddenly came in, there must be both Chinese and Western medicine doctors, right?

At the very least, foreigners definitely don’t know much about Chinese medicine. Experts in both Chinese and Western medicine are here, as well as foreign monks. Women are timid, so how can they not be afraid?

Could it be that...

All of a sudden, countless possibilities emerged in the child's mother's mind.

Although they had seen a Western doctor and gone to the Children's Hospital before coming and understood the condition, the Children's Hospital said that there were other possibilities.

“Don’t be afraid!”

Ma Tiequan observed their expressions and said with a smile, "These people are here to visit our hospital for an exchange. This is Dr. Yun Hengyun from West Asia Hospital."

"call!"

The child's mother finally breathed a sigh of relief.

So that's what it was like. She was really scared to death.

"Come, let me see the child first."

After Ma Tiequan sat down, he smiled and said to the woman, and the woman then moved forward and lifted the child's clothes.

Just before entering the clinic, the attending physician had already introduced the child's condition to Ma Tiequan and others: breast hyperplasia, which was diagnosed by the Children's Hospital.

When the child's mother lifted up her clothes, Yun Heng and others nearby could see clearly that the child's breasts were about the size of fists. If you ignore the child's age and gender, she looks like a 15 or 16-year-old girl who is just beginning to develop.

The nipple also has a black areola, about the size of a coin.

Ma Tiequan reached out to touch it and asked, "Does it hurt normally?"

“It hurts when I touch it.”

The child's mother said, "Sometimes when I put clothes on him, he cries because it hurts."

"We are men, so we should be patient."

Ma Tiequan spoke to the little boy with a smile while examining him vigorously. The child immediately cried in pain, and Director Ma's comfort and praise had no effect.

"There's a core inside."

After the examination, Ma Tiequan stood up straight and turned around to say something to Yun Heng.

"Breast hyperplasia of this size is still rare."

Allens said.

In Western medicine, male breast hyperplasia, also known as gynecomastia, is a condition caused by an imbalance in the ratio of estrogen and androgen in the male body, leading to abnormal growth and development of breast tissue. Patients present with bilateral or unilateral breast hyperplasia, nodular or discoid growth, and hypertrophy.

From the definition of various causes, we can see Western medicine's understanding of this disease. Clinically, this disease is not a common disease and the probability of occurrence is not too high, but the cause is unknown.

This disease often occurs around puberty and in old age, and its pathological manifestation is glandular duct hyperplasia without alveolar hyperplasia.

It can generally be divided into two categories: primary and secondary. It usually occurs in adolescent boys and elderly men. It is mainly caused by a transient increase in endogenous estrogen or a decrease in androgen, and can often resolve on its own.

Secondary cases are common in patients with liver disease, testicular disease, adrenal disease, thyroid disease, diabetes, tumors of the genitourinary system or nervous system, long-term use of estrogen for prostate disease, or long-term use of certain medications for other diseases.

Although Allens is a cardiac surgeon, he also knows this disease.

Clinically, children of this age are generally considered to have primary disease. If it is not very serious, the hospital does not recommend treatment, saying that it will get better after a period of time. As mentioned above, it can often resolve on its own.

If the condition is more serious, treat it with medication.

The little boy's growth looked quite large and was painful to the touch, so it was obviously quite serious.

"Have you been to other hospitals before?" Ma Tiequan asked.

"We went to the Children's Hospital for a checkup and they recommended surgery. We felt the child was too young, so we came to Xihua Hospital. Xihua Hospital also recommended surgery, so we decided to try our luck in the Traditional Chinese Medicine Department."

As she spoke, the child's mother glanced at Yun Heng. They had originally planned to go to the West Asia Hospital. After coming out of other departments of the West China Hospital, they tried their luck and got a number. Unexpectedly, they got one, so they decided to take a look first.

The outpatient doctor's level of skill was not high enough for this type of disease, so the case was transferred to the inpatient department and fell into the hands of Ma Tiequan.

For more serious hyperplasia, Western medicine does recommend surgical treatment. In cases like children, drug treatment is unlikely to be very effective.

Ma Tiequan didn't ask any more questions, but took the patient's pulse and checked the tongue coating.

"The pulse is normal, and there's nothing wrong with the tongue coating."

Ma Tiequan withdrew his hand and turned to Yun Heng and said, "Xiao Yun, what do you think?"

Obviously, Ma Tiequan left the opportunity to Yun Heng again. In front of Allens and Adams, Ma Tiequan was not in a hurry to show himself.

This disease is not serious, but it is very troublesome. If surgery is not used, it is still difficult to treat clinically. It is also possible that the hyperplasia will disappear after a period of time, but in the case of children, the pain during this period is not so easy to bear.

Such diseases are not difficult to treat for Ma Tiequan and Yun Heng, but for Allens and Adams who do not understand Chinese medicine, treating such diseases will have a more shocking effect.
