Chapter 7: Setting up a stall
Before setting off, Mo Fei modified the small tricycle he used to make fried rice. He wrapped a few circles of very cheap colorful lights on it, and wrote a big price tag with a black marker and placed it in the front.
It looks much better than the greasy fried rice tricycle before.
Security guards Dalong and Xiaolong, who were guarding the security room, saw someone riding a tricycle coming out of the community on the monitor and couldn't help but look over.
Xiaolong was a little confused: "Brother, if you can live in this community, do you still need to set up a stall at night?"
"You care so much about others. Who would complain about having too much money?" Dalong smacked his lips and took a sip of tea. "The richer a person is, the more hardworking he is. Didn't you see that last night, all the takeaways were for the guy in District D? He's rich!"
"Brother, you really see things clearly!" Xiaolong gave a thumbs up.
Mo Fei didn't hear the discussion about her in the security room. The family of three rode their tricycles towards the nearest night market.
The nearest night market is about three kilometers away from this community, called Huaimeng Market. It is a new street stall economy area developed in the southern part of the city to promote employment.
Because it is newly opened, you don't have to pay the stall fee for the first month. The position is first come first served, you can set up the stall if there is a spot. There are a lot of people, whether they are selling things or just strolling around and buying things.
When Mo Fei and his friends arrived, even though it was only six o'clock in the evening, there were already a lot of people coming and going.
"All the good seats are gone." Mo Jianian stood on tiptoe and looked at the crowd, saying with some disappointment.
"Then there is another one!" Mo Jiayue pointed to a small corner.
Mo Fei stopped the tricycle and brought out the ingredients. She swiftly poured out a few cups of mung bean soup and placed them on the stall. She then opened the box of glutinous rice, black rice, milk cream, diced watermelon, and raisins and began to manually assemble the ice rice.
Mo Fei was concentrating on serving the ice rice, while the two little guys stood in front of their own stall and shouted without any shyness.
“Ice rice for sale!”
“Selling green bean soup!”
"Delicious ice rice! I've never tasted ice rice before!"
"Children will study better if they eat it, and adults will earn more money if they eat it!"
The two of them chatted with each other, not afraid of strangers at all. Their young voices stood out in the noisy environment.
Mo Fei was amused: "Who did you two learn this from?"
The two of them didn't hide it and pointed at the stall owners around them: "We just learned a little."
The other stall owners were not angry either. Seeing two such cute children, how could they be angry? They all waved to the children, wanting them to go to the stalls to play.
What Mo Fei didn't expect was that the first customer to her stall was brought by Mo Jiayue.
Mo Jiayue, who was white and tender in a pink dress, stood beside a young couple and said in a baby voice, "Sister, come and try our ice rice. It's delicious. And you're so pretty, I really want you to eat our ice rice."
The girl in the young couple was originally looking at her mobile phone, but was suddenly stopped by this little guy and praised. She stood in front of Mo Fei's stall in a daze.
Before coming, the girl was afraid that it was too expensive and she would be ripped off. After seeing that the package price was only 18 yuan, she decisively ordered a portion of purple rice. After all, this is the price for a cup of milk tea these days. The boy paid readily.
Within two minutes, the girl got a bowl of purple rice icy rice sprinkled with coconut milk and raisins, as well as a cup of cold mung bean soup.
The girl looked at the nicely matched ice rice and took a photo without hesitation. She handed the mung bean soup to her boyfriend and said, "I can't eat so much. You drink this first."
The boy was out shopping with his girlfriend and was already too hot to handle, so he put in a straw and started drinking. After taking a sip, he didn't know what it felt like, and somehow he scanned Mo Fei's QR code and paid five more yuan: "Boss, another serving of this mung bean soup!"
The girl looked at him suspiciously: "Is it really that delicious?" Mung bean soup tastes the same, how delicious can it be? As she asked this, the girl took a bite of the ice rice in her hand. Her eyes suddenly lit up.
It's cool, refreshing, and just the right amount of sweet! It's not greasy at all, and the texture of the purple rice is extremely soft.
"Sister, what you cooked is so delicious. I want another portion." While her boyfriend was taking the mung bean soup, the girl asked for another serving of ice rice.
"Okay. Your boyfriend just paid 5 yuan, so you can give me 13 yuan. I'll also give you a package price." Mo Fei said generously.
"Thank you, sister!"
The young couple left happily. When they got back, they posted the pictures of the food on their Moments, along with a photo of Mo Fei's stall.
After the first customer, business gradually improved.
When Mo Fei was too busy, he would ask the two children to help with small things, such as passing boxes, putting on packing bags, etc.
Two hours later, all the ingredients for 50 people that Mo Fei brought had been sold out. As Mo Fei expected, the purple rice steamed in a big pot was the fastest-selling and best-selling item. But many people saw that the purple rice was sold out, so they had to settle for the next best thing, and quickly bought out the black rice and glutinous rice, and asked Mo Fei to make more purple rice tomorrow.
Some customers who had seen the couple's photos on WeChat Moments were disappointed that they didn't buy anything and begged Mo Fei to come out and set up a stall again tomorrow.
Mo Fei readily agreed and said that he would make some ice rice with new flavors tomorrow.
"Closing up!" Mo Fei loaded all the items onto the tricycle and picked up some of the garbage on the ground with a bag. The customers didn't bring cash with them, so they paid with WeChat or Alipay, which made it easier for her to settle the bill.
She just took a quick look and found that the net profit was much higher than expected. It can be said that today was a good start.
“Is it hot? Do you want to enjoy the free air conditioning?”
Seeing that it was only a little after eight in the evening, Mo Fei parked the tricycle at the gate of the community and asked the security guard to look after it temporarily. Then he took the two children to the nearest supermarket.
This supermarket has only been open for three months. It is twice as big as other supermarkets and occupies an entire building. The three-story underground parking lot is free, which attracts many people to come and buy large and small bags.
As soon as they entered the supermarket, the curtain fell and a chill swept over their bodies. Both children couldn't help but scream.
"Come on, let's get a shopping cart. We've made so much money today, buy whatever you want, and don't save any money." Mo Fei promised the children.
Mo Jiayue clapped her hands happily. Mo Jianian was also very excited, but he still pulled his mother's sleeve reservedly: "Mom, I heard that the things in this supermarket are very expensive."
Mo Jianian had seen a leaflet of this supermarket. The prices on it were about 15% higher than those of other supermarkets.
"Money is not saved, it is earned. I am happy when you two spend money. Only when I am happy can I have the energy to make more money. Don't you think I am right?" Mo Fei had a lot of reasons.
Mo Jianian felt that what his mother said must be right, but he also felt that his mother seemed to be fooling him.
Before I knew it, I had already entered the snack area and started buying things.
Murphy thought that after she said this, the children would feel free to buy what they wanted. But after shopping for half an hour, she found that there were only two bags of potato chips, a box of chocolates, and a bag of boneless chicken feet in the shopping cart. The total amount was less than 50 yuan.
"I will be very sad if you only buy this little. If you are unwilling to spend the money I earn, then what's the point of making money? I will be so sad..." Mo Fei began to show off her poor acting skills.
The two children were anxious. One of them grabbed one of Mo Fei's arms and shook her hand, thinking that Mo Fei was really crying sadly.
The brother and sister were no longer reserved, but they still chose a relatively cheap brand after comparing prices.
The shopping cart gradually filled up with items. Mo Fei asked the brother and sister to choose from the snack area first, while she went to the school supplies area.
"Acrylic markers, gouache paint, drawing paper, crayons." Mo Fei muttered as he put things into the shopping cart, "This keyboard is good, and the desk lamp is good. These two pens are good too." The things Mo Fei chose were many times more expensive than the snacks in the shopping cart.
But Mo Fei didn't feel sorry at all, and even felt that he bought too little.
In fact, to some extent, she was buying it for her younger self. At that time, she also hoped that such a person would appear and buy her everything she wanted.
When he passed a shelf, he saw the book section. Mo Fei walked around it, threw a few parenting books into the shopping cart, and took some books on cultivation, survival and escape, and basic medicine.
Mo Fei walked out of the study area and wanted to go directly to the snack area to find the children, but passed by the gift area.
Inside were some high-end tea sets, tea leaves, cigarettes, alcohol and other things.
Mo Fei didn't buy these. Instead, he bought a silk quilt worth more than four thousand yuan and a can of tea worth more than one thousand yuan.
According to the original owner's memory, the original owner's mother had poor sleep quality and the original owner's father liked to drink tea.
I just don’t know if they still like these things after eight years.
·
Mo Fei was unsure, but he still bought it. After all, he had made an appointment with his mother yesterday to visit her on Monday.
When it was time to pay, before Mo Fei felt bad about the money, he heard Jianian Jiayue gasping for air and saying "so expensive, so expensive".
This time, he spent nearly 20,000 yuan. Of course, the bulk of the money was the silk quilt and tea.
"Mom, is this for grandpa and grandma?" Mo Jiayue asked, looking up.
"How did you know?" Mo Fei was carrying a lot of bags and it was a bit difficult to walk. The new mall was full of surveillance cameras, and the children didn't know she had space, so she had no way to put these things in.
Mo Jianian was carrying a lighter bag of snacks and holding the keyboard that Mo Fei bought for him. "Mom said before that she wanted to buy a good quilt for grandma and a can of good tea for grandpa. We all know that. You also showed us photos of grandpa and grandma."
Every year when Mo Fei’s birthday comes, the children see a very sad Mo Fei, see their mother take out the photos of him and his grandparents from her mobile phone, and listen to their mother talk about their grandparents.
But they have never seen their grandparents, their father, or any other relatives. They have vaguely known since they were young that they are different from other children. There is only Mo Fei in their world, and there are only them in Mo Fei's world.
"Yes, Mom wants to go see your grandma tomorrow. I haven't seen her for so long, and I want to buy her something." Mo Fei said.
She believed that there was no deep hatred between parents and children. As long as one of them could bow his head, there would be room for easing the relationship.
Moreover, the natural disaster was coming, but no one knew when it would come. If possible, Mo Fei did not want to see the original owner's parents get into trouble. After all, the down payment for the house she just sold was paid by the original owner's mother. In the end, the one who benefited was her, a visitor from another world. For this reason, Mo Fei could not just stand by and watch.
