(Some readers said this book is particularly bad, so I'm here to warn you personally. There's no need to give it one or two stars. Go check out other books. I'm really tired and don't want to argue anymore. Of course, I privately hope you'll come and read it. It's a solo story with no romantic pairing for the female lead. She doesn't raise any men, only a talking cat.)
In an instant, the world spun around.
Jiang Zhi opened her sharp eyes.
"Li Bing, Cheng Xiao! If I could do it all over again, I would kill you the moment I saw you!"
With the words she spoke just moments before her death still echoing in her mind, Jiang Zhi seemed to be surrounded by a low-pressure atmosphere, making it hard for the thrush perched on the withered branch to breathe.
"Hahahaha! Even God heard me? I've really been reborn!" Jiang Zhi laughed wildly, her shrill voice echoing throughout the villa.
It took her a while to recover before she noticed the clock with a calendar hanging on the wall.
Excellent! March 3rd, 2333rd year of the Chinese calendar.
March, the warm spring month, is truly a pleasant time of year.
Jiang Zhi slowly walked onto the balcony. The sun was shining brightly outside, but her soul was riddled with wounds.
Is this the end of the world?
In March and April, we didn't feel anything, but starting in May, the temperature was three degrees higher than in previous years for the same month.
At first, everyone thought this was normal, until June, when the global temperature rise became increasingly uncontrollable.
The Northern Hemisphere is like a furnace, while the Southern Hemisphere is as cold as an ice cave.
After enduring more than five months of extreme temperature fluctuations on Earth, the Earth's temperature seemed to spiral out of control, with alternating periods of extreme cold and heat occurring in the Northern and Southern Hemispheres.
This situation persisted for over five years, during which time torrential rains, hailstorms, earthquakes, volcanic eruptions, rampant epidemics, and constant natural and man-made disasters plagued the island nation. The island nation was completely engulfed by earthquakes, volcanic eruptions, and tsunamis.
After alternating periods of cold and heat, the world was frozen for three years, followed by a complete loss of sunlight, resulting in a global polar night. However, even more difficult to deal with than these natural disasters were the mutated animals.
As if overnight, humans regressed to their ancestral state. The pets and wild animals that were originally harmless, those that did not die from the cold or heat, mostly became wild and untamed mutant species. Humans instantly fell from the top of the food chain to the dust.
Of the 10 billion people on Earth, only about 300 million survive the polar night. This is a rough estimate from a numerical model; the actual number of survivors may not be that many.
And she—well, she was lucky; she survived the polar night during the apocalyptic year.
She struggled and humiliated in the apocalypse. She witnessed cannibalism, murder for flesh, and the selling of souls and dignity. Almost everything so vile and unspeakable that had appeared in global history books had happened after the apocalypse.
Of course, there were also moments of happiness and tenderness. She had also witnessed people sacrifice themselves to save others' lives. In the face of mutated beast hordes, they were willing to use their own flesh and blood to carve a bloody path for their comrades.
After the apocalypse, humanity awakened its natural talents. These awakened individuals were like seeds of hope left by heaven, and most of them also shouldered a mission, especially in a place like China that reveres the spirit of self-sacrifice and struggle.
Human hearts are complex, yet she never encountered such a friendly companion.
Jiang Zhi clenched her fists. In her previous life, she awakened a power talent, but after the polar night, this talent became useless, while plant and fire talents were more popular.
"Li Bing and Cheng Xiao, those two bastards, your dying vows are etched into my soul. If I ever see you again, I will surely kill you both with my own hands!"
It's ridiculous that she jumped into the glacier cave just before she died, and they wanted to eat her flesh and then try to deceive her with their feelings. Did they really think she was a fool?
The reminiscence ends here. With only three months left until the real apocalypse, she must gather supplies in these three months to ensure that she is not as miserable as she was in her previous life after the apocalypse.
Thinking about a person's entire life's necessities of food, clothing, shelter, and transportation, in such an extremely unstable situation as the apocalypse, it would be wonderful to have a private space.
It can contain all things and protect life and death in one place.
Unfortunately, this is reality; how could such a legendary thing possibly exist?
As Jiang Zhi walked into the study, she sighed. If there was no space, where could she find a place to live in this apocalyptic world where natural disasters and man-made calamities were constantly occurring?
Even air-raid shelters are useless in the face of a super earthquake.
Before she could react, she found herself in an unfamiliar place. Surrounded by mountains, a thin layer seemed to block her view at the horizon.
"What is this?" Jiang Zhi was still confused.
She strolled forward, the warm sunlight shining on her, creating a dreamlike, unreal feeling.
"Is this a space? There's a thatched hut up ahead." Jiang Zhi suppressed her shock, knocked on the bamboo door, but there was no response, so she pushed the door open and went inside.
"Is anyone there?" Jiang Zhi asked, making a defensive gesture with her hands.
No one responded.
She boldly went into the house.
The hut was simply furnished with only a table and a cushion.
On the table was a piece of paper. Jiang Zhi picked it up and saw that it was written in small seal script: "Those who enter this world are destined to be with me. I give it to them to make a living. I hope that the destined person will use it well, cherish it, and treasure it."
Jiang Zhi has been learning seal script since she was a child, and even after so many years, she can still decipher it.
Is this a gift from God?
Even during the most difficult time, Jiang Zhi never shed a tear, but after being reborn, she wanted to have a good cry.
In fact, she did just that.
Jiang Zhi took the yellowed paper, walked outside the thatched hut, kowtowed three times in the direction of the main hall, and then burst into tears.
