Chapter 32 Accepting the Mission

"Alright, don't be angry. I'll teach Wanfu a lesson for you." Jiang Zhi let the little thrush out the window.

"Wanfu, you can't catch Little Thrush anymore, understand? He's your brother!"

Wanfu: ? ? ?

Is it possible to not accept interracial bloodlines?

Cats and birds are lifelong enemies!!!

No arguments accepted!

"Maybe it's your older sister." Jiang Zhi couldn't remember when she got the thrush; according to the order of arrival, the thrush was the eldest.

It was freezing cold outside, and Jiang Zhi didn't plan to let Huamei go out. She figured it would freeze to death before it could even fly ten meters.

Jiang Zhi first went up the mountain to pick up a few eggs, washed two of them and put them in a steamer to steam. Then she took out a homemade rice ball from the foam insulated box and put it in the microwave along with two steamed buns.

Although the rice balls and steamed buns were warm, Jiang Zhi wanted to eat something hotter.

She went to the shelf in the time-frozen section and got a cup of soy milk. She ate rice balls and steamed buns while waiting for the eggs to steam.

After breakfast, Jiang Zhi washed the clothes she had changed out of yesterday and hung them to dry on the beams of the corrugated steel roof she had built herself in the space.

Jiang Zhi emerged from the space wrapped in a thick cotton-padded coat. This time, she wasn't dressed in anything too glamorous, and she chose the most old-fashioned color.

She tucked Wanfu into her bosom, and Wanfu nestled against Jiang Zhi's chest, peeking out with its little head.

Although Wanfu has been well cared for for a few days, he hasn't gained much weight yet, so he's still quite small.

Jiang Zhi is going out today, and there are still three corpses in her space, which she needs to throw outside.

She had considered burying them in her space as fertilizer, but then she thought about how the fruits and vegetables grew by absorbing the blood of these three scoundrels, and she felt uneasy about eating them.

Overnight, a thin layer of snow covered the car. Jiang Zhi quickly swept it clean, only to find that the car door was frozen shut.

Helpless, she went upstairs to get a kettle of boiling water and poured it on the car door. It took a while for the ice to melt.

After opening the car door, Jiang Zhi filled the car with gasoline and turned on the air conditioning to warm it up for a while.

She got her driver's license before the apocalypse, and her driving skills were quite ordinary. But after the apocalypse, in order to survive, she honed her driving skills to perfection.

She is always very careful when driving, especially on snow.

Along the way, Jiang Zhi saw people with red cloth strips wrapped around their arms clearing snow; these were people earning points.

There weren't many cars on the road. Anyone who could afford to drive at this time of year must be quite wealthy and not someone you want to mess with.

Jiang Zhi automatically blocked out the gazes directed at her.

She went to the mission hall first, then realized she needed to go out for a while and couldn't make any more trips, so she just left a corpse there.

I need to make a little money.

Having been in the base for so long, this is only her second time visiting the mission hall.

Last time, she met Ji Xiaoxiao.

She hasn't shown her face outside for so long, so Ji Xiaoxiao really can't find her for a while.

The tasks posted on the wall were all kinds of things, but those that were easy and required little resources had already been claimed.

Jiang Zhi also didn't want to do tasks that were of no value to her.

Suddenly, Jiang Zhi caught sight of an advertisement recruiting new members for a team of superhumans.

So many people with superpowers have formed a team so quickly? It seems she's been isolated from the world for too long and has completely forgotten about people with superpowers.

Jiang Zhi's attention was quickly drawn to another task.

The location is Jiangcheng First People's Hospital. Bring back at least thirty doses of adrenaline. Reward points: 600.

This task is so simple, it's a bit hard to believe no one has taken it.

Jiang Zhi tore off the mission slip and walked out of the mission hall amidst a crowd of strange looks.

"See? Someone has taken on that assignment from Jiangcheng First People's Hospital."

"My goodness, and it was a beautiful girl who answered the phone."

"It's a monster. I think this girl is more likely to be in grave danger."

"Excuse me, why is the outcome so ominous?"

"It's all because of the mutated animals. I heard that the mutated animals from the mice in the hospital lab are incredibly ferocious. They've gathered a lot of mutated rats from the surrounding area and taken over the hospital. None of the people who took on this mission survived."

"Hiss~ This is absolutely terrifying!"

The thought of those terrifying giant rats sent shivers down everyone's spines.

Encounters with mutated animals are becoming increasingly common and are no longer a novelty.

Recently, many people in the base have developed special abilities. After official research, it was decided to announce this and name them "superpowered individuals".

A person with the ability to manipulate the five elements (metal, wood, water, fire, and earth) in nature through some kind of mysterious power, can generate magical effects by activating this power.

Strength-type superpowered individuals are those whose physical strength is greatly increased, such as those who can kill a bull with a single punch at the beginner level.

Agile-type ability users are those who have achieved the ultimate control over their bodies, resulting in increased speed. Ideally, they can teleport, hence the name speed-type ability users.

A psychic ability user, currently known to have enhanced perception, with the potential to develop into a prophet.

Spatial ability users possess an independent space capable of storing items; no other functions have been discovered so far.

The base has now formed 68 five-person superpowered teams and 1,589 six-person ordinary people teams.

They usually undertake missions outside the area.

Many other superhumans act alone.

"What's there to say? What if they're a superhuman?"

Upon hearing this, most of the people present fell silent.

Although the disaster is outwardly called a natural disaster, who doesn't know that this is the end of the world?

Some people are lucky enough to awaken their superpowers and become the chosen ones, while the rest of us ordinary people just barely survive.

Although they came to the base and had a place to live, and could eat in the base's communal canteen with a little effort, people committed suicide every day.
