Side Story 1: The Aftermath

This is consistent with Jiang Zhi's usual personality.

She was destined to be an outcast.

We did base missions together, venturing into more dangerous places. After getting to know her, I realized she was far more composed than us during natural disasters. At that moment, I had a strong feeling that she would definitely be ahead of everyone else.

Later, she left the Shuofang base, while Wang Wan and I continued to accumulate points.

Wang Wan and I eventually embarked on the journey back to Wancheng to find his parents. Unfortunately, with the end of the world upon us, Wang Wan's parents could not be found, and we did not know whether they were alive or dead, but they were probably dead.

Wang Wan grew up at that moment; he was no longer a child. Of course, at 25, he was no longer a child.

We were quite surprised to hear that she had opened a grain store in her old home. It was unbelievable that she could sell grain when it was so scarce. It wasn't until we saw with our own eyes how she managed to produce grain that we realized there were truly amazing things in the world.

Jiang Zhi's abilities are truly unfathomable.

Just then, we were trapped in the Light Base. I was severely injured and on the verge of death. Wang Wan led me on a desperate escape, hiding and fleeing from those people who, despite living in the apocalypse, still had the energy to relentlessly pursue us.

We thought we were both going to die at the Bright Base, but then the person who would change our lives appeared.

Jiang Zhi acted like a goddess descended from heaven, instantly resolving the predicament that Wang Wan and I were facing. The Bright Base seemed to be courting her, so whatever conditions she proposed, that Zong Han would agree to them.

Admittedly, everything Jiang Zhi did was to destroy the base. In fact, I've thought about it. If Jiang Zhi wanted to, she could have destroyed the entire base overnight, but she didn't choose to do so. Instead, she let the people at the bottom of the base rebel on their own. This is something I've never been able to understand in my entire life.

Why did she do that?

Later, Jiang Zhi pointed out a path for me and Wang Wan, and then she left alone again, and that was seven or eight years later.

In the post-apocalyptic world, every day felt like an eternity. No one knew if they would survive today or tomorrow; everyone was risking their lives.

Wang Wan and I wandered from place to place, and things only got better when we arrived at the Mohe base.

During those years at the Mohe Base, Wang Wan and I rallied the superhumans around us to protect ordinary people. We worked together to resist the mutated beasts, but later, wave after wave of beast tides hit, and we could no longer sustain ourselves.

Later, we received a notification that all bases could relocate to the Fuxi Base Cluster to jointly resist the beast tide.

The Fuxi Base is the largest base in China and the location of the official central power. Wang Wan and I did not hesitate.

Tens of thousands of people set off from the Mohe base at the same time, and several thousand died on the way.

Despite the difficulties, I persevered.

It was during this process that I got together with Wang Wan. After many years of growth, he was already capable of standing on his own and providing for me and our child.

Psychic abilities may not seem powerful in combat, but they are actually indestructible.

Upon entering the base, I discovered that there were many superhumans there, and they were even differentiated by level.

Wang Wan and I weren't among the absolute best, but we were still extremely rare.

Wang Wan mentioned Jiang Zhi, and after inquiring, he easily obtained information about her. She was indeed at the Fuxi Base, and in a high-ranking position. It was extremely difficult to meet her; the higher-ups were very protective of her, and it was only with great difficulty that he managed to see her.

She looks exactly the same as she did eight years ago, with no change whatsoever, except that her eyes have become even colder.

I was pregnant at the time, but I still insisted on doing what I could at the base.

Jiang Zhi had become a god in the base, because she brought food and hope.

She left the base after that, and unfortunately neither Wang Wan nor I were able to see her off. It wasn't until after my child was born that I joined the fight against the beast tide before I was even out of postpartum confinement.

Actually, I realized something was wrong as soon as I stepped out that day. My powers hadn't fully recovered since the birth of my child, and my body was in a state of depletion. I had a premonition that I might not be able to return.

Sure enough, I was really powerless. Wang Wan was not far away from me, but unfortunately it was too late.

At that moment, I was determined to die.

She appeared again, and with just a flick of her magical finger, she rescued me from my predicament and saved my life.

Before I could even express my gratitude to her, she was back in the fight.

Soon the tide turned in favor of humanity; with her around, even super-grade mutant beasts could be cut down like tofu.

Everything was so regrettable. After that, Wang Wan and I never saw her in person again. Even when we went out to carry out that formation mission, we could only catch a glimpse of her from afar.

Wang Wan said something that I will never forget in my life.

"The boss isn't coming back."

She really didn't come back.

She left behind everything in her space that we could use: plenty of food, seeds, medicine, and even books.

It was only later, when I took a leadership position in the Fourth District, that I learned from an original file that Jiang Zhi had left behind a large amount of equipment. That equipment came from the plateau and mountains and was all China's secret weapon.

She has done so much for China; she deserves to be remembered by everyone and passed down through generations.

***********Divider*******

If Jiang Zhi's clearing out of her spatial inventory were considered a great sacrifice for China, she would definitely say at this moment: "Damn it, I just thought these useless things were rusting and taking up space in my space, that's all."

Meanwhile, Qiu Gu carried Jiang Zhi through the active array that day, gradually guiding the array to separate parallel time and space. She was also grazed in the array, and blood flowed profusely. What was hateful was that this arm was the same one she had cut when she jumped into the ice cave in her previous life.
