Chapter 21: There is a fugitive in the town
"Husband, what happened? You just went out to buy some food, how could it turn out like this?" The tears in the woman's eyes seemed to have broken off the string.
She held the already cold body tightly in her hands, and the people from Xiangjia Village who came with her didn't know how to comfort her for a moment.
Worried about their loved ones, they carried more than a dozen bodies from the square and put them together, "If they are not here, then where did they go?"
Someone murmured in a low voice. Xiang Yu glanced at the bodies on the ground, and after not finding Uncle Xiang's family, he entered the supermarket.
The blood on the ground in front of the supermarket had already solidified, but because the temperature was not very low, there was only a thin layer of ice on the surface.
He stepped on it and the ice shattered with a crackling sound. The sole of his shoe was covered with blood. Xiang Yu didn't care and looked towards the supermarket door.
When Xiang Yu saw the scene in front of the supermarket clearly, his pupils suddenly shrank and he clenched the dagger on his right arm, ready to pull it out in an instant if there was any danger.
At the gate of the supermarket, there were more than a dozen bodies lying on the ground. The bodies were deliberately piled together to block the entrance of the supermarket.
“Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhh~~~”, an ear-piercing scream sounded behind him. The scene before him was enough to make Xiang Yu gasp in shock even though he had experienced five years of apocalypse.
This is just the beginning. How could someone use such a brutal method to kill people? The murderer even piled the bodies together without fear.
Judging from the footprints on the ground, these should not have been done by one person. There are only small towns and villages around here, and most of the rural people are simple and honest.
Even if there are some bad ones, they are not so inhumane.
After turning over the bodies, Xiang Yu did not see Uncle Xiang's family. Instead, he felt extremely heavy.
Some of the wounds on the bodies were caused by repeated cutting. Four of the bodies had wounds on their necks that looked like Guan Zhuang's Adam's apple sliding out.
The person who did the attack was obviously not a veteran, but he was very ruthless and decisive. It was obvious that he had either been in prison or was a major criminal fugitive.
After five years of experiencing the apocalypse, Xiang Yu knew clearly that if ordinary people wanted to kill someone, they would need to change their mentality, and even if they did so, they had their own bottom line.
She had also encountered murderers in the apocalypse. They had no restraints, did whatever they wanted, enjoyed torturing and killing, and had no morals.
The scene before her was exactly in line with her guess, because this happened in just the first month of the blizzard.
It seems that Uncle Xiang and the others are in great danger.
Ordinary people had never seen such a scene before. Several people from Xiangjia Village were so scared that they collapsed on the ground, except for a few who had strong mental qualities.
Follow Xiang Yu and move the body down.
"Son, son, who hurt you..." The old man followed Xiang Yu to move the corpse, and started crying halfway through.
Holding a corpse with a bloody face, the elderly man, who was nearly fifty years old, sobbed, "If you want to take something, take my life, not my son's, God..."
The pair of withered hands were wiping the bloody cheeks.
The old man was from Xiangjia Village. The corpses looked so miserable that the people from Xiangjia Village who were sitting on the ground did not dare to step forward to check.
They were afraid, afraid to see their loved ones among those corpses.
After the supermarket door was revealed, Xiang Yu walked in. It was pitch black inside, and when he shone the flashlight, the shelves were empty.
Next to the supermarket warehouse door, two women in work clothes were lying on the ground, blood flowing under them. It was obvious that they had been dead for a long time.
Half of the items on the shelves in the warehouse had been taken away, and half of the shelves had fallen to the ground, with some instant noodles, bottled water and drinks scattered on the ground.
All the seasonings, marinades, and hot pot bases on more than a dozen shelves that could be eaten immediately were taken away, and the remaining ones were used as side dishes.
Now all the vegetables in the fields are frozen to death, so of course no one wants to take these ingredients.
This should be the warehouse where the supermarket stores things. Going back, there are some furniture, bedding, blankets and bedding.
Xiang Yu glanced outside and found that there were many more people outside the square, probably from the nearby villages.
After the power outage, the cameras in the warehouse also stopped working. Seeing this, Xiang Yu quickly ran around the shelves and soon all the things on the shelves were taken away by her.
She collected more than fifty boxes of bottled water and beverages each, which would be enough for her to drink slowly for one or two years if she kept them in the space.
After she finished inspecting the entire mall.
There was no sign of Uncle Xiang and his companions. So where did they go? After thinking for a moment, Xiang Yu walked out of the mall.
In the square, the woman found a piece of curtain cloth from somewhere and covered the man's body, "Honey, are you cold? I'll take you home now..."
Tears were still on the woman's face, and the other end of the curtain was wrapped around her body. She helped the man up and half-sat, but she couldn't carry him on her back.
Seeing this, Xiang Yu put his hands under the man's armpits, lifted him up from the ground, and placed him on the woman's back.
"Thank you..." The woman looked at Xiang Yu deeply, and walked in the blizzard with one foot deep and one foot shallow, carrying her dead husband on her back.
Her steps were steadier than before, and she seemed to have endless energy in her body.
Xiang Yu didn't know where Uncle Xiang and the others had gone, but there were few bodies here, so it was obvious that they should be safe now.
The last time they came, they didn't come here to buy things, but went to a merchant in the town who had a lot of grain in stock.
If Uncle Xiang and the others hadn't come here, would they have gone over there?
Thinking of this, Xiang Yu rushed over there. These were the only weapons she had now. Firearms were prohibited in the country, and she did not have a gun warrant abroad, so she wanted to get a gun.
It will probably take some time.
Walk along the town street towards the grain warehouse.
The town was completely silent, and every household had drawn their curtains, making it impossible to see what was going on inside the house.
If Xiang Yu hadn't seen some chimneys emitting smoke, he would have doubted whether there were still people in this town.
They should be aware of what happened in the town's shopping mall yesterday, otherwise every household would not have kept their doors closed.
Before he got close to the warehouse where the grain was stored, Xiang Yu heard bursts of crying and approaching footsteps. He reacted quickly and looked around.
He turned around and dived into the alley on the right, then squatted down and hid his body completely behind the trash can.
Soon, footsteps were heard passing by. Xiang Yu peeked from behind the trash can and saw two middle-aged men in black cotton jackets walking straight out of the alley.
After listening carefully for a while, Xiang Yu discovered that the crying sound came from the granary where rice was stored.
