Chapter 309: The Earthquake Stops
The small crack under his feet continued to expand. Xiang Yu took out the handle of the knife and shot out a rope hook, which firmly grabbed the robot beside him.
As the rope rebounded, Xiang Yu's body was pulled closer to the robot, and this time the aftershock was more violent than the last time.
Even the robot's body was shaking. Standing on the robot's shoulders, Xiang Yu steadied himself and looked around.
Some of the tiny cracks had expanded to the edge of the fortress, and the aftershocks stopped again after more than ten minutes.
But the ground was still shaking slightly.
Back in the fortress, Xiang Yu picked up the heavy objects that had fallen to the ground and put those that were not damaged into the space.
Aftershocks occurred every ten minutes or so. Fearing that a major earthquake would suddenly strike, Xiang Yu stayed at the gate of the fortress after nightfall.
In the second half of the night, there were crackling sounds in the sky. Lightning and thunder streaked across the sky, and the crackling sounds made my head buzz.
Every time lightning flashed across the sky, the earth became as bright as day, and the flickering images looked like a broken TV.
"Crack..." Another loud noise was heard, and the lightning formed a twisted arc and slid over the fortress.
Xiang Yu had gotten used to the sound in the second half of the night and didn't find it noisy. There was a burning stove next to him and he didn't feel cold either.
Soon, the chair under him began to shake, but Xiang Yu was already used to this slight shaking.
Thinking it was another aftershock, Xiang Yu did not stand up. However, as the shaking became more and more obvious, Xiang Yu quickly stood up from the chair.
The second major earthquake was probably about to come. He fastened the oxygen cylinder around his waist, put away the chair and stove, and replaced the goggles on his eyes with night vision glasses.
Night vision goggles can see more clearly in the dark. Rumble, rumble, the mountain covered with sand dunes on the left suddenly collapsed.
The gap became bigger and bigger, as if someone in the sky was holding a huge sword and splitting the ground.
As the shaking became more and more intense, rocks from all around kept rolling down. Xiang Yu carefully avoided a huge rock that was rolling over.
The rock hit the wall of the fortress with a dull thud, and then it rolled into the dark ravine ahead again as the ground shook.
Hearing the sound of it rolling continuously, Xiang Yu listened carefully, but for a long time there was no sound of heavy objects falling to the ground.
It seems that the huge crack in the ground ahead is bottomless.
The earthquake lasted for more than half an hour before it stopped, but the number of aftershocks was also less this time.
Xiang Yu had not slept the whole night and had been guarding outside the fortress until a hint of paleness appeared in the sky and the first ray of light came into view.
After a night, the two deep ravines had connected together, forming the area where the fortress was located.
Like an isolated island, this location seems a bit dangerous if it experiences a few more aftershocks.
I was afraid that this area of the fortress would sink completely, so I raised my hand and put the fortress and the robots inside into the space.
Xiang Yu found a place with a relatively small crack and stood still. Then the rope hook popped out from the handle of the knife in his hand, and the whole person was pulled away from the spot in an instant.
She felt a little hungry, but she couldn't eat anything at the moment. She ate a few pieces of egg pancakes and slowly walked towards the intact sand dunes in front of her.
After standing on the sand dune for a while, she felt aftershocks from the ground. After several aftershocks, the area where the fortress was located was exactly as she had guessed.
With a loud bang, the area between the two ditches sank completely. Xiang Yu instantly felt fortunate that he had left early.
Countless smoke and dust surged from all around the huge crack. Xiang Yu took out the RV from the space and drove towards the relatively intact ground.
We tried to avoid places with dense cracks along the way, as the soil there was probably quite soft.
If a heavy object passes over it, both the person and the vehicle will probably fall in.
We parked the RV on the sand dunes. The aftershocks had stopped and the earth was as quiet as usual, if we ignored the large rift valleys.
Instead of continuing to drive rashly, Xiang Yu stood on the roof of the RV and observed the surroundings with a telescope.
Three days passed in a flash, and during this period there were no more earthquakes. Xiang Yu also settled down on the top of the mountain.
A week later, Qin Enen drove her modified electric scooter and knocked on Xiang Yu's RV door.
"Hello, I'm Qin Enen, your exclusive oxygen delivery person. This is something the base boss asked me to deliver to you..."
Qin Enen looked at the gap in the open car door, handed something over, and Xiang Yu reached out to take it.
This thing is a small walkie-talkie, but the signal can be connected over a very long distance. She has seen this thing before the apocalypse.
It's just that she didn't contact anyone, so she didn't buy this thing.
But this thing was obviously modified. Xiang Yu looked at the bandaged wound on Qin Enen's arm.
