Chapter 387: Overnight Wealth

Chapter 387: Overnight Wealth

Except for broad beans, both of them already have experience in planting other large-scale crops. Small-scale planting of crops for seeds can be done using conventional methods, but broad beans require some thought.

I remember that in the past, the village used to plant broad beans in autumn. Now the weather is not much different throughout the year. Since the land has been prepared, we might as well plant them all at once.

The broad bean is also a deep-rooted crop. Generally, the characteristics of this crop are that it likes water but is afraid of waterlogging. The spring rain has stopped in the past few days and it has been sunny all day, so there is no need to worry about the broad beans getting sick.

After spreading lime, they also spread manure to compost the soil. Every year before sowing, they spread lime in spring and not in autumn, so as to prevent the soil from being too alkaline and detrimental to plant growth.

The two men couldn't eat too many broad beans, so they left a few ridges of land next to several other beans and planted broad bean seeds in the soil.

Broad bean seeds are quite special. Each seed is the size of a finger and cannot be put into the homemade seeder. One has to bend down and sow them manually on the ground. But it’s only a few ridges and it only takes half an hour to finish sowing.

After planting everything they were going to grow, the two began to study the subsequent equipment planning for their home.

In addition to updating the manure fermentation equipment, Mu Xi also wondered whether he could move back other agricultural equipment in the village.

One of the reasons we didn't move it back before was that it was too heavy. Another reason was that the equipment either burned diesel or electricity, both of which were resources that the family could not afford before. But things are different now.

In addition to the harvester that was brought back some time ago, there was also the small tractor that Mu Xi wanted to move back the most.

Zhao Yeqing was speechless after hearing this. If it was an ordinary equipment, even if it was a little heavier, he could find a way to tow it back if he really wanted it.

But the tractor couldn't be driven back or towed.

Mu Xi also knew that it was too difficult. After saying the word "tractor", his tone couldn't help but weaken: "Well... that's what I said, but the small tricycle in the tourist area can be pulled back. Now that my family can afford it, it can help transport things."

That's possible. This time, my family used up the ramie fiber that we had stored up to make hemp ropes. It's also quite convenient to drive a tricycle to the outside of the pine forest to cut some ramie.

There is also manure processing equipment. Zhao Yeqing's idea is to build a long shed in the corner of the original composting area, similar to a greenhouse for growing crops, and use the high temperature in the closed greenhouse to quickly ferment the manure.

The plastic film needed to build the fermentation greenhouse is also reused. Now the plastic film is almost never used in the greenhouse in the courtyard, so the remaining piece can be used in the fermentation greenhouse without causing waste.

The fermentation greenhouse can also better protect the manure to prevent it from getting moldy after being soaked by rain. It is much better than the previous method of directly covering the manure pile with plastic sheets.

The sweet potatoes in the vegetable garden outside have also been harvested. Now the land is empty and I don’t know whether I should continue to plant sweet potatoes.

In terms of the demand for pig feed at home, it is necessary. Feeding pigs some soup can make them full, but feeding more solid food can make them grow meat faster.

Now that cattle and sheep go out to graze during the day, the main source of manure has become the pigs at home. Pig manure is more difficult to ferment than cattle and sheep manure, so fermentation greenhouses are the next best option...

It would be even better if there was a biogas digester.

Hay straw, feces, kitchen waste, etc. can all be poured into the biogas digester to ferment into butane. All insect eggs and bacteria will be killed, becoming smokeless and dust-free clean fuel, making it more convenient to boil water and take a bath.

It is not difficult to build a biogas digester, but it is very troublesome to make a pipeline to transport biogas. In addition to the pipeline, there must be a valve, which must at least be able to be closed and opened.

The two have not yet thought of a solution to this problem, so the biogas digester project has to be shelved.

But I just mentioned boiling water for bathing...

Zhao Yeqing looked up at Mu Xi: "It seems that we can finally achieve water freedom."

There is only one faucet in the house, which is the one above the kitchen sink. The faucet can only flow water normally by filling up the self-built water tank outside the kitchen and relying on water pressure.

But now it’s different. Our family has enough gasoline to last a lifetime, which means we have enough electricity to last a lifetime.

They can move all the water-using equipment in the tourist area back home. As long as they install the water pump and booster valve, they can have running water at home!

After finding the gas station, the two of them devoted their full attention to farming. Now that they have finished farming, they finally remembered the daily needs of their family.

Mu Xi suddenly realized: "Yes... and the electric water heater can also be brought back and used. In the future, I don't have to boil water before taking a shower."

The two looked at each other and saw clear stupidity in each other's eyes.

The two had lived in the mountains for a long time. Seven years had passed without them realizing it. From 3033 when they first returned to the mountains to 3040 now, Zhao Yeqing suddenly realized something...

There is a feeling of helplessness as if one has just come into contact with human civilization.

She swallowed and said, "If I'm a little bolder, can we even avoid having to light a fire?"

Since there is endless electricity, can't we cook with rice cookers, induction cookers, microwave ovens, ovens... and other appliances that don't require burning fire?

Not only does it save time on chopping wood, but it also avoids the trouble of having to cook in a stuffy kitchen in high temperatures of over 30 degrees.

Happiness comes a little bit suddenly.

Zhao Yeqing suddenly felt and understood the happiness of those who became rich overnight.

It’s great to have electricity.

Mu Xi was obviously a little confused. After he came to his senses, he began to consider where it would be best to put those small appliances.

"There's not a lot of storage space in the kitchen. If you want to put everything in the kitchen for easy access, you have to make two shelves. In addition to the shelves, there is also a stove."

Before, the two of them used a fire pit on the ground to cook. In fact, it was a square hole hollowed out in the ground. A fire was lit inside, and above the fire was an iron tripod on which pots and pans could be placed.

If you want to use an induction cooker now, you need a workbench. I did build a workbench when I built the kitchen before, but since I didn't cook on it, I used it to place things. Now I have to make some shelves and cabinets for storage so that there is space to put the induction cooker for cooking.
