Chapter 410: Trap to catch 'raccoon'

After dinner, while waiting for the animals, I have to organize my notes and record them in detail on the computer. I also record the summary and a small amount of data in a paper notebook to avoid loss.

I didn’t realize it before, but in the past few years, I have discovered that farming is really a science. Even the notes I made can be read often and I can draw inferences from the data.

For example, vegetables that belong to the Solanaceae family - peppers and eggplants.

Both crops prefer warmth and are not cold-resistant, and they like fertilizer, especially nitrogen, especially eggplant. If the two crops are planted side by side and temperature problems appear in the data records during the germination period of eggplant, then the peppers next door should also be paid attention to.

If the peppers taste too spicy during the fruiting period and the light exposure is normal, it means that the moisture in the ground is insufficient during that period. This will also affect eggplants that like water and are afraid of waterlogging, so you need to add moisture in time.

The greenhouse in the yard is not very big. In theory, the two Solanaceae crops should be planted farther apart, but due to the area constraints, they have to be planted close to each other. Two rows of garlic or ginger are planted in the middle as a separator to reduce the outbreak of pests and diseases such as cotton bollworm.

In the past, elders always said that they would only need to live on that one acre and three mu of land. But when they really started to live on it, they found that this one acre and three mu of land was not that small at all, and there was knowledge everywhere.

Mu Xi checked his notes and occasionally mentioned the crop conditions he had observed. The two of them summarized and recorded the data. Zhao Yeqing glanced to the side unintentionally and saw the animal sniffing at the edge of the trap.

"Look! Here it comes!"

The trap was an earth pit trap with various fruits and vegetables at the bottom. Worried that it might not be tempting enough, the two men also put a small piece of meat at the bottom. If it was really an omnivore like a raccoon or a badger, meat would be most attractive to them.

There is also a wooden board at the bottom of the pit where the bait is placed. As long as something steps on it, the rope connected to the wooden board will be pulled, and another wooden board next to the trap will be pulled to cover the trap.

The two had previously conducted several experiments using their own dogs to ensure the success rate of the trap.

The camera next to the trap was closer, and this time it had the clearest view. Zhao Yeqing looked at the animal that looked more and more like a raccoon, "Is this a raccoon?"

Mu Xi also thought so, but there was no zoo nearby. There were no wild raccoons in their entire country, and there were no raccoons in other countries near the border. It was too strange for them to appear suddenly.

When the animal got close to the trap, perhaps because it had succeeded once before, it jumped in without hesitation when it saw the food inside. A clicking sound was heard from the laptop, and the trap was covered by the wooden board.

When Mu Xi saw the animal about to jump, he put on his shoes and went downstairs. When he heard Zhao Yeqing shout, "Mu Xi!"

After getting the information, he ran to the side of the trap. The animal was quite strong and tried to push open the lid after being frightened. But it was not that easy. Although it was just a wooden lid, the depth of the trap was not particularly shallow. The animal could only climb out by climbing the mud wall.

And all the claws on the limbs are used to climb the wall, so how can there be any free hands to push open the wooden boards?

When Mu Xi ran to the side of the trap, the wooden board on top was moving due to the push of the animal's head, but it only opened a small gap and he couldn't get out.

This time I want to see what kind of person you are.
