Chapter 221: Exchanging supplies, there are snakes

After a brief shoving among the group, a girl finally stepped to the edge of the cave entrance and cautiously inquired, "Hello, is anyone there?"

Shen Zhiyi remained silent and continued to flip the meat on the grill skewers.

The aroma of roasted meat wafted from the cave entrance, making those outside swallow hard.

The group exchanged glances, then went inside.

Then the group of people made eye contact with Shen Zhiyi.

But Shen Zhiyi only glanced at them before continuing to grill the meat, ignoring them.

"Excuse me, miss, can we stay here for the night?"

The girl who had just spoken asked again, explaining that they had originally planned to find a place to spend the night, but it suddenly started raining, and the rain was getting heavier and heavier.

They've ended up in a mess; they finally found a cave, only to discover there were still people inside.

"Do as you please, just don't bother me."

Shen Zhiyi is not a cold-blooded animal. As long as they are good people, they can stay if they want. She doesn't care about so much.

If you're not up to the task, then get out.

They breathed a sigh of relief when they heard Shen Zhiyi agree.

They had already decided that if this person disagreed, they would go out and find another place to take shelter from the rain.

The group chose a corner to sit down and began to tidy themselves up.

Then, embarrassingly, they discovered that they needed to change their clothes, but the spot they had chosen was close to the cave entrance, which wasn't very convenient.

Several boys tactfully walked to the edge of the cave entrance, avoiding looking inside.

Shen Zhiyi didn't notice this either, and the three girls quickly changed out of their wet clothes.

After changing into dry clothes, it finally came back to life.

"Miss, could I borrow a light?"

"random."

Shen Zhiyi had already eaten her fill and was leaning lazily against a rock.

Fox Moon was still lying on the side, gnawing on roasted meat.

"Thank you! Miss, my name is Jin Xiangyu, you can just call me Xiaoyu." Jin Xiangyu came closer and carefully extended a piece of wood, putting it into the fire.

Shen Zhiyi nodded without replying.

Jin Xiangyu didn't mind and continued, "Miss, um... can we trade some meat with you?"

Jin Xiangyu noticed that next to the little fox, there was a piece of meat that hadn't been roasted yet, and she wanted to exchange some to take back and help everyone get some nutrition.

These people aren't very capable, they eat too little meat, they've always been vegetarian, and their diet isn't very nutritious.

“That’s for the little fox. If you want to ask her yourselves, you can ask her yourself.”

Shen Zhiyi was right; the meat was hunted by Hu Yue herself, and she had the final say on how it was distributed.

Jin Xiangyu was stunned for a moment, not expecting that the meat was actually from the little fox.

So... how should she ask that?

Fox Moon was engrossed in gnawing on meat and ignored what they were saying.

Jin Xiangyu first took the torch to her friend so that her friend could light the fire, and then returned to the little fox's side.

She hesitated for a moment before speaking, "Hi, little fox?"

Shen Zhiyi gave her a complicated look and said, "Be direct, she can understand."

"Huh?" Jin Xiangyu turned her head blankly to look at Shen Zhiyi, then turned back to look at Hu Yue, who was still gnawing on roasted meat.

"Little fox, can I trade you some roast meat? I have some fruit."

Jin Xiangyu spoke very directly.

Fox Moon, who was still gnawing on her barbecue, paused for a moment, turned her head and looked at Jin Xiangyu with bright eyes, as if asking, "Really?"

Jin Xiangyu understood Hu Yue's strange look and nodded hesitantly, "Really."

Fox Moon patted the raw meat with her little paws, generously indicating, "Change!"

She was getting tired of the fruits available in the nebula and wanted to try something new.

Jin Xiangyu's eyes lit up, and she quickly took out more than a dozen apples from her backpack and placed them in front of Hu Yue.

"These are all for you!"

Shen Zhiyi glanced at the apples placed in front of Hu Yue; there were about 16 of them.

That piece of meat weighs at most two pounds.

Fox Moon's eyes lit up; she'd never eaten this before, so she started nibbling.

He pushed the piece of raw meat towards Jin Xiangyu, and the transaction was complete.

He stopped eating the barbecue and started eating an apple instead.

"Fox Moon, finish the roast meat. It's a waste. I won't give you any tomorrow."

Shen Zhiyi spoke without any expression.

"Waaah~" Fox Moon whimpered twice to indicate that she understood, and then she started munching on her apple.

After Jin Xiangyu received the meat, she thanked Hu Yue and immediately took the meat back to her friends.

The group quickly got to work and prepared several dishes before starting to eat.

They kept very quiet the whole time, afraid of disturbing Shen Zhiyi.

But Shen Zhiyi was in a daze at the moment, and from where she was, she could see the rain outside.

The group started discussing the night watch arrangements, and they all agreed that the four boys would take turns keeping watch in pairs, while the girls would get some rest.

Jin Xiangyu also came over to tell Shen Zhiyi to sleep peacefully, as they would keep watch tonight.

Shen Zhiyi did not refuse and nodded in agreement.

It's late at night.

Shen Zhiyi hugged Hu Yue and leaned against the rock, falling asleep.

The two boys were talking quietly by the campfire, keeping an eye on the surroundings.

Fox Moon yawned, but she didn't fall asleep.

It wasn't that she didn't trust those people, but she always felt it wasn't safe at night, and she had to protect Shen Zhiyi.

With its eyes half-closed, it lazily nestled in Shen Zhiyi's arms, its large tail swishing back and forth.

Sure enough, not long after, a creature slowly crawled out from somewhere deep inside the cave.

It slowly crawled towards the humans.

Fox Moon raised her head and looked in the direction of the creature.

However, the two people on night watch did not notice what was happening on Fox Moon's side.

Fox Moon jumped down from Shen Zhiyi's arms, her fox eyes narrowed into slits, and her tail swished impatiently.

The creature had approached their location and revealed itself; it was a jet-black snake.

Fox Moon changed its size and pounced on the black snake before it could react, pinning it down.

"Keep quiet if you don't want to die." Fox Moon's threatening words echoed in Black Serpent's mind.

The black snake struggled for a moment, then became still.

It's a shrewd snake; it'll stay quiet when told to.

"You're smart enough to know what's good for you." Fox Moon snorted, opened her fox mouth, and picked up the black snake.

The two boys on night watch only noticed when Fox Moon, carrying the black snake in its mouth, walked up to Shen Zhiyi.

Then he stared in disbelief at Fox Moon and the black snake she was holding in her mouth.

Then they exchanged a shocked glance.

What just happened?

Who are they? Where are they? Why didn't they notice?

Then they all fell silent again.

Should they wake the person up or not?

Fox Moon glared at them, as if to say, "If you dare to wake her master, you'll end up like this snake!"

The two boys shut their mouths, not daring to utter a sound, and continued their silent vigil.

Fox Moon pressed down on the black snake with one paw while staring at the rain outside.

Black Snake and Shen Zhiyi were dealing with it after they woke up.
