Chapter 231 The NPCs leave and head to North Town

Shen Zhiyi diligently fished for snacks for the kittens by the river.

One after another.

After an unknown amount of time, Shen Zhiyi's hand holding the fishing rod grew sore, but the NPC who had left still hadn't returned.

Shen Zhiyi looked back down the road they had come from, but there was still no sign of any NPCs.

She was a little worried and couldn't bother fishing for the kittens anymore.

I quickly packed my things, stuffing the box, fishing rod, and other items into my backpack.

I took a torch and led the kittens back.

As she walked, Shen Zhiyi called out to the NPCs, but there were no NPCs around.

Finally, Shen Zhiyi and the kittens returned to the NPC's courtyard.

However, Shen Zhiyi searched inside and out three times, but still couldn't find any trace of the NPC.

Shen Zhiyi suddenly realized something; the NPC hadn't gone back to the courtyard to get something at all, but had left.

She felt a little disappointed, still worried about the NPC and wondering where he had gone.

Remembering the cats that left with the NPC, Shen Zhiyi found the two cats in the dim firelight.

They didn't follow the NPC; after the NPC took them back to the courtyard, they left.

Two cats were perched on the courtyard wall, their paws tucked into their arms, gazing into the distance.

She was probably looking in the direction the NPC left, Shen Zhiyi thought.

The cats who followed Shen Zhiyi back found the NPC in the courtyard and became somewhat impatient.

They couldn't understand why the kind old man who always smiled and fed them had disappeared.

There was no trace of the old man in the courtyard; they couldn't find him.

The kittens gathered around, meowing at Shen Zhiyi, as if asking, "Where's Grandpa? Why isn't Grandpa home?"

Shen Zhiyi didn't know how to answer, so she could only squat down and stroke the heads of the kittens one by one.

After calming the kittens down, Shen Zhiyi slept there for another night.

The kittens, feeling safe without the NPCs, all ran to Shen Zhiyi's room, insisting on sleeping with her no matter what, and wouldn't leave no matter how hard they were chased away.

Shen Zhiyi had no choice but to compromise, as she couldn't resist the adorable fluffy thing.

The next morning.

Shen Zhiyi then discovered that her bed was covered with kittens, and Hu Yue was still nestled in her arms, fast asleep.

Shen Zhiyi tiptoed to put Hu Yue aside, then carefully got out of bed and left the room full of cats.

She took her cleaning tools and cleaned the entire courtyard, inside and out.

Shen Zhiyi pulled up all the vegetables from the garden.

Everyone's gone, there's no point in keeping the food.

Shen Zhiyi covered all the furniture in the room with a dustproof cloth.

This is a dust cover that she specially bought from the trading area before going to bed last night.

Fearing that the cats might want to enter the room, Shen Zhiyi added a small door to each door so that the cats could pass through.

After cleaning the yard, the kitten came back to me.

The kittens knew Shen Zhiyi was busy, so they didn't bother her. Now that she's not busy, the kittens seized the opportunity.

Shen Zhiyi has already wasted a lot of time in Xizhen, and now it's time to leave for Beizhen.

The kittens sensed that Shen Zhiyi was about to leave, so they all transformed into their own little voices and ran up to her, trying to be cute and charming, just to make her stay.

Shen Zhiyi had considered taking the cats home, but there were too many cats for her to take them all.

Moreover, her nebula probably can't hold that many cats, right?

Shen Zhiyi sat in the courtyard, casually picked up a kitten, placed it on her lap, and stroked it intermittently.

The kitten was purring contentedly.

In their competition for attention, the other kittens even ran over and pushed the kitten that was originally lying on Shen Zhiyi's lap off.

After a while, Shen Zhiyi put the cat that had climbed on her down.

The cat knew that Shen Zhiyi was leaving, and it meowed reluctantly, its voice filled with sorrow.

"Good girl, I'm leaving now. Take good care of yourselves." Shen Zhiyi said gently, comforting the kittens.

At this moment, the eldest cat, who had been lying on the wall, jumped down. It walked gracefully and slowly approached Shen Zhiyi, looking up at her.

It seems she wanted to remember what Shen Zhiyi looked like.

Shen Zhiyi squatted down and petted the eldest cat. After looking at all the cats in the yard, she left the small courtyard.

The cats were all in the courtyard, watching Shen Zhiyi leave.

"Yiyi, why don't you take the kittens with you?" Fox Moon asked, perched on Shen Zhiyi's shoulder, sounding a little bored.

Shen Zhiyi walked around a thorny bush, saying, "There are too many of them. I can't take them with me, and I can't afford to keep them."

"Once we bring the cats home, we have to be responsible for them, but how can we take care of them in our current situation?"

Fox Moon shut her mouth, her eyes darting around, and then she saw a certain place.

His eyes suddenly lit up, and he jumped off Shen Zhiyi's shoulder and rushed over there.

Not long after, Fox Moon returned with a plump rabbit in her mouth.

My walking posture has started to become a little unsteady.

Fox Moon pinned the rabbit under her paws. "Yi Yi! Eat the rabbit!"

"Eat tonight?"

"OK!"

Shen Zhiyi killed the rabbit, threw it into her backpack, and picked up Hu Yue.

"Which would you like to eat? Roasted rabbit or spicy rabbit head?"

"Shall we have roasted rabbit? It smells delicious!" Fox Moon licked her lips, as if it had been a long time since she had roasted rabbit. She wanted to try it today!

Beizhen is quite far away, and even though we rushed, we still couldn't get into Beizhen before dark.

They had no choice but to find a place to rest outside before entering Beizhen the next day.

Seeing that no one was around, Fox Moon transformed back into human form and squatted down next to Shen Zhiyi to watch her roast rabbit.

"Is one enough? Should I go and hunt another one?" Fox Moon licked her lips; she felt she could eat a whole one!

Shen Zhiyi smiled and said, "Then you can make two more, and I'll roast one for Nalan Zhao."

Fox Moon pouted, "You're still thinking about her even though you're on the island."

“They also care about me; they gave me a lot of medicine for my injuries,” Shen Zhiyi replied.

Black Wolf and Dried Fish went out to forage for food on their own and haven't returned yet.

Fox Moon found a direction and went hunting again.

"Um..." A ragged little child stood next to a tree.

Shen Zhiyi turned her head and saw that the child was very timid. When he saw Shen Zhiyi looking over, he shrank further behind the tree.

"What's up?"

The little boy glanced at her timidly and said, "Sister, I haven't eaten in a long time. Could you give me something to eat?"

After saying that, the child lowered his head, not daring to look into Shen Zhiyi's eyes.

Shen Zhiyi raised an eyebrow. "There are homeless children on the island too?"

"Come here, will you?"

The child shook his head upon hearing this, "I'm dirty, and I'll make your place dirty if I go there."

Shen Zhiyi looked at the rabbit in her hand, which was almost roasted, reached out and tore off a leg, picked it up and walked to the child.
