He quickly got off the sofa and slipped into the kitchen.
"How is it? Can I eat it yet?" Shen Zhiyi was a little tempted. She had already finished the jerky that Qi Jing had given her before.
Qi Jing sighed helplessly, then pulled Shen Zhiyi's restless hand back, "Sister, it's not ready yet, wait a little longer."
"I just made some chicken jerky, you can have some first." Qi Jing pointed to a box on the side.
"Okay." Shen Zhiyi picked up the box and ran.
She knew that this was what Qi Jing had left for her to eat now, and that it would be fine to finish everything in the box.
"Yiyi, what do you want to eat? Can you break some for me?"
Fox Moon came over following the scent, placing her little paws on Shen Zhiyi's leg and looking up at the chicken jerky in her hand.
Shen Zhiyi generously took a piece from the box and gave it to Hu Yue.
Fox Moon sniffed lightly, then her eyes lit up, and she quickly snatched the jerky.
"Mmm, it smells so good!" Fox Moon ate happily on the side.
...
The next morning, Shen Zhiyi left home. She had arranged to meet the police officer that day to learn about his work.
When she arrived, the police officer was already there.
"Little Shen's here." After saying this, the policeman paused, then asked, "Is it absolutely necessary for you to leave?"
"You know, jobs that go into the system are really hard to find."
The police officer didn't know why Shen Zhiyi insisted on leaving, but he didn't really want her to go and wanted her to stay.
Shen Zhiyi smiled. This was the first time in the past few days that she had explained to the police officer, "Uncle, there is someone waiting for me, and I need to go see him."
The police officer paused, seemingly understanding what Shen Zhiyi meant.
Who hasn't been impulsive when they were young?
So the policeman sighed and stopped trying to persuade him.
"Alright, go ahead." The policeman waved his hand. "You young people, really."
"Can't boys come here? Why do you have to go over there?" The policeman said, sounding somewhat annoyed with the boy.
Shen Zhiyi smiled faintly, "He's in a very, very far place, it's not like I have to go there."
The policeman was stunned again. A place very, very far away? Does that mean...?
He opened his mouth, wondering if Xiao Shen was thinking of doing something rash. Could it be?
Shen Zhiyi could tell from the policeman's expression that he had misunderstood, so she quickly explained, "It's not what you think, it's just that it's far away."
They've crossed time and space, so of course they're far away.
The police officer looked at her suspiciously, still somewhat doubtful. He was already considering whether he should use force to keep Shen Zhiyi there.
"He's still alive and well, otherwise why would I go looking for him? Am I that love-struck, Uncle?"
"That's hard to say, what if... what if you really are?" the policeman muttered under his breath.
Shen Zhiyi chuckled and shook her head, no longer responding, as she sorted through the documents she had collected over the past few days.
"Uncle, I've already organized all the documents. You can just take them. I've also organized some other files and put them on a USB drive. You can find them directly in there."
Shen Zhiyi placed the documents on the table for the police officer to see.
"Okay, I know you're a meticulous kid." The policeman paused for a moment. "When are you leaving?"
"tomorrow."
"Sigh, remember to come back and visit when you have time. This is your home too." The policeman sighed and finally didn't try to persuade Shen Zhiyi to stay.
Shen Zhiyi smiled and said, "Don't worry, this is my home, and that will never change. I'll come to visit you when I get back, but you can't complain about me then."
"Go away, don't come here. I'm annoyed just looking at you," the policeman said with a look of disgust.
After exchanging a few words, Shen Zhiyi left the police station.
When they got home, Qi Jing was still busy in the kitchen.
"Xiao Jing, what are you doing in the kitchen again?" Shen Zhiyi took advantage of his inattention and scooped up a piece of dried meat and put it in her mouth.
Qi Jing turned around and saw the dried meat on Shen Zhiyi's lips. His lips twitched. "Make dried meat. Otherwise, at the speed at which you eat, what I made last night wouldn't be enough for you to eat for several days."
Shen Zhiyi chuckled twice and put her arm around Qi Jing's shoulder. "Xiao Jing is still the best to me."
"Don't do that. What if someone hears you say that and makes things difficult for me?" Qi Jing pouted.
Shen Zhiyi patted Qi Jing's head, grabbed a few pieces of dried meat, and ran out before he could react.
Shen Zhiyi didn't bring anything with her. Anyway, Nalan Zhao had everything, so she could just go there in person.
In the evening, Qi Jing finally came out of the kitchen, and the dining table was full of boxes of the jerky he had made.
"Sister, stop playing and come over here to put your things away," Qi Jing called out to Shen Zhiyi in the living room.
Shen Zhiyi lazily got up from the sofa, and her eyes lit up when she saw the boxes she had her eye on. She ran over.
"Are they all for me?" Shen Zhiyi looked at Qi Jing happily.
Qi Jing nodded. "Yes, they're all for you."
Just as he was about to pour a glass of water, Qi Jing spoke up somewhat awkwardly, "Don't give any to that person, this is something I made for you."
"?" Shen Zhiyi looked over in confusion, then realized who Qi Jing was talking about, and burst out laughing, "Fine, fine, fine, we won't give Nalan Zhao any."
Qi Jing then went to pour water.
Shen Zhiyi happily put all the boxes into her backpack and walked towards the living room, humming a song.
As soon as she sat down on the sofa, Fox Moon ran over, stretched out her little paws to tug at Chen Zhiyi, and there was a suspicious water stain at the corner of her mouth. "Yiyi, give me a piece!"
Shen Zhiyi reached out and pointed at Fox Moon, but still gave her a piece of dried meat.
He also gave one to each of the kids in the family.
She wasn't biased at all; she treated everyone equally.
Qi Jing went back to his room to take a shower. When he came out, Shen Zhiyi was waiting for him.
"Sister, what's wrong?" Qi Jing sat down beside her.
"Here, take this." Shen Zhiyi handed over the little Grim Reaper.
The little Grim Reaper sat on Shen Zhiyi's palm, clutching his little scythe, looking at Qi Jing with a bewildered expression.
Don't ask how you can see confusion on a skull face, that's just the expression, ignore it.
Qi Jing reached out and took it, not understanding why Shen Zhiyi wanted to give it to him.
"I don't know when I'll be leaving, so I'm telling you some things in advance."
"This little guy was given to me by a skeleton. He's quite cute and well-behaved, perfect for you to keep as a pet. He can stay by your side and keep you company."
"I reckon the system will come over in the middle of the night, which means you won't be able to find me when you wake up tomorrow morning."
"I don't know what you've been busy with lately, but I know you can take good care of yourself. When I'm not around, you can't complain about the trouble of not cooking."
Qi Jing nodded, indicating that he understood and would not disobey her.
Shen Zhiyi nodded in satisfaction and continued rambling on.
