Chapter 10 The Leader of the Meteor City Troupe 10 (Revised, Seeking Another Path...)

Chapter 10 The Leader of the Meteor City Troupe 10 (Revised, Seeking Another Path...)

The little rabbit's eyes were very moist.

He seemed worried that this would cause trouble for Ayana; he bit his lower lip tightly, and there was hesitation in his eyes, unsure whether this request was right or wrong.

But he held onto Ayana's hand without any intention of letting go.

"I'm not going anywhere."

A soft spot in her heart softened, and Ayana's expression softened. "You have a fever. I need to make you some medicine."

But you can't reason with someone who has a fever.

The high fever made Kuroro's brain malfunction. He looked at Ayana blankly, and released her hand as if he didn't understand, but then grabbed her clothes again. He repeated, his words unclear, "I'll go with you."

The children who grew up in Meteor City had no home and never experienced the warmth they could rely on.

They are children abandoned by the world, lacking even the most basic human rights.

Children who grow up in such an environment generally don't trust others.

So even now, Kuroro still doesn't believe Ayana.

But he uncontrollably made outrageous moves, as if grasping at a straw, stubbornly clutching Ayana's clothes.

Seeing that Kuroro didn't seem like he would obediently go to sleep, Ayana helplessly took his hand in return, conveying warmth through their intertwined palms, and led Kuroro downstairs.

Fortunately, Kuroro is very obedient.

He seemed to be following orders, obediently sitting down at the table as Ayana did, with a thermometer in his mouth, but his two big eyes remained fixed on Ayana the whole time.

Ayana boiled water and prepared a packet of fever-reducing medicine for Kuroro before carrying the bowl to him. She removed the thermometer from Kuroro's mouth and was shocked by the number.

38 degrees 7.

high fever.

Last night, the window that Uvogin smashed let in a cold draft all night, and Kuroro spent the whole night wrapped in a blanket, freezing in the cold air.

His eyelashes were drooping, his cheeks were still flushed from the fever, his eyes were hazy, and his earlobes were pink, making him look even more frail.

Kuroro weakly accepted the medicine from Ayana, but didn't drink it immediately, instead just staring at the bowl of noodles.

The fever reducer doesn't look very appealing; it's grayish-brown and looks very bitter.

Ayana probably guessed why Kuroro had stopped, so she bought something from the shop and hid it in her hand, then forcefully stuffed it into Kuroro's hand.

The sun slowly rose, and the sky brightened, but the curtains inside were not yet fully drawn. White light pierced through the cracks in the window, blending incongruously with the dim yellow light inside, yet creating a sense of comforting tranquility.

Ayana smiled and said, "After taking this, the medicine won't be bitter anymore."

It's a round thing, and it's very small and somewhat smooth.

Kuroro slowly opened his hand, and a small, round object appeared in his palm.

It was a beautiful little sphere, entirely pink, and looked crystal clear and sparkly. Kuroro had never seen anything so beautiful and attractive before.

His previously hazy eyes gradually brightened, and the dryness in his throat made Kuroro's voice sound dull and lifeless: "...What is this?"

"It's candy!" Ayana exclaimed excitedly. "Try it, it's very sweet!"

Kuroro was actually a little reluctant to eat something so beautiful and pretty.

But the pink candy was too tempting, so he swallowed hard, closed his eyes, and ate it.

It's very sweet.

It has a very sweet taste, like a juicy and sweet fruit, enough to dispel all gloom and pain.

Kuroro had never eaten anything so sweet, nor tasted anything so delicious.

Seeing the boy standing there lost in thought, Ayana's eyes crinkled into a smile, but before her joy could last two or three seconds, she saw a layer of mist slowly rise in the boy's eyes.

The boy was lost in thought, his face blank, yet tears uncontrollably streamed from the corners of his eyes, each drop more vivid than the last.

He cried.

Kuroro's tears came too suddenly.

Unexpectedly, Ayana was momentarily stunned by the outcome, then became restless and anxious, frantically wiping away Kuroro's tears with a tissue, her words jumping around incoherently.

"Don't cry! Do you still want some candy? I have plenty here, you can have it all!"

"Is this candy not tasty? Then don't eat it, spit it out!"

"Or do you not want to take your medicine? If you don't want to take it now, it's okay to leave it for a while."

The girl, like a headless fly, helplessly wiped away Kuroro's tears.

"No," Kuroro finally spoke.

With the combined effects of high fever and tears, Kuroro's throat became extremely dry, and his lips also became parched. He licked his lips and swallowed, which made him feel a little better.

Maintaining a fake smile has always been Kuroro's forte. He forced a smile as usual, trying to appear calm, but there was an undeniable sour feeling on the tip of his nose, both sour and astringent, which disturbed his peace of mind.

He said gently, "No, it's very sweet and delicious, but you don't need to give it to me."

The boy forced a smile, which was accompanied by tears. The tears slid down the curve of his cheeks to the corners of his mouth, and then flowed into Kuroro's mouth through the gaps in his lips. They probably tasted very bitter.

For some reason, the boy erected a barrier of alienation, isolating everyone from him and making it impossible to discern his true emotions.

He rejected Ayana.

[Kuroro's affection level detected at 20%.]

Ayana's intuition told her that something was wrong. The increase in favorability should have made her happy, but at this moment she only felt confused.

She stared at Kuroro without moving, her hand holding the tissue hovering in mid-air, unsure whether to put it down or continue wiping.

"What's wrong?"

Kuroro seemed to regain all his sanity in an instant. He drank the bowl of bitter medicine in one gulp, then took the paper from Ayana's hand, wiped the medicine residue from his lips, and said with a smile.

"I've finished drinking."

Ayana settled Kuroro into her room.

The window in Kuroro's room was still broken. If he continued to be exposed to cold wind in his current state, he would probably develop more than just a high fever.

Kuroro wanted to refuse, but he couldn't resist Ayana's forceful offer, so he had no choice but to obediently let Ayana push him back onto the bed.

After settling Kuroro in, Ayana ruffled his hair and coaxed him, "Get some sleep. I'm going out for a bit, I'll be right back."

Then they left.

Kuroro didn't stop him, nor did he follow him, and he didn't go to sleep immediately.

He lay on Ayana's bed, staring at the ceiling with his eyes open.

Ayana's room wasn't very luxurious; it was just ordinary, similar to Kuroro's room, except for some cute-looking decorations, the origin of which was unknown.

Perhaps it was because the girl had a sweet dream on this bed last night, Kuroro felt like he could smell her scent, which made him feel a little uncomfortable, yet inexplicably at ease.

Kuroro had no intention of sleeping, but the aftereffects of the fever reducer were kicking in, making his eyelids increasingly heavy and drooping.

One close, one shut; one close, one shut…

My vision gradually blurred, my mind became muddled, and finally I returned to complete calm.

Kuroro is asleep.

[Unidentified individuals have been detected gathering near the host. The host is requested to immediately proceed to the target's location, observe their movements, and eliminate them if necessary.]

Ayana, as if riding on a whirlwind, quickened her pace and left the house, heading towards her mission destination.

She deliberately avoided using powerful amplification techniques, hoping to use this to improve her physical fitness and raise the upper limit of her special abilities.

About fifteen minutes later, Ayana arrived at her destination.

She breathed shallowly, used the bushes to conceal her figure, crouched in the grass, and peered out through the gaps.

"They said the team we sent out earlier has gone missing. Could they have been attacked?"

"Don't joke around. This is Meteor City, our people are everywhere. Who could possibly attack us?"

A group of people are talking.

They wore the holy white robes of the church, yet their words and actions had nothing to do with holiness.

"But weren't they missing? Why?"

"You must have gone off somewhere to have fun. You're just overthinking things. Stop thinking so much."

The person at the front was carrying a heavy book in one hand, looking straight ahead without glancing to the side, and the smile on his face had a kind of benevolent quality.

"But didn't our superiors tell us to find those people?"

"You don't even understand the orders from above? We just need to go through the motions."

He patted the person next to him on the back and comforted them, "Don't worry."

Ayana frowned, intending to listen further.

Unexpectedly, a dry branch above her head suddenly broke off and hit her head, causing her to stumble and fall to the ground.

The noise wasn't too loud or too soft, but it was definitely loud enough for those people to hear.

[Mission objective changed! Please leave this area immediately and avoid conflict as much as possible!]

Ayana quickly pushed herself up with her hands and ran away.

But those people were even faster than her. She only had to turn around before she was surrounded by four figures.

She gritted her teeth, her fists clenched tightly.

The system's voice sounded again.

[Mission objective changed.]

[Mission Objective: Drive out the intruders (0/4), no time limit.]

Ayana acted decisively, wanting to use a powerful amplification.

But the system gave her a warning.

[Host, in your current state, even with a powerful boost, you cannot defeat all four of them simultaneously.]
