Chapter 34 The Brigade Leader of Meteor City 34 (Isaac...)
Irritability.
A feeling of irritability that I can't quite put my finger on.
"Father" continued talking incessantly: "Although Albert is indeed infatuated with you now, there are so many women outside eyeing such a golden catch. If you don't seize the opportunity, it will be too late to regret it when he is snatched away by another woman."
Ayana's lips moved slightly: "Father, this is against etiquette. At the very least, we should get engaged first, and then discuss the wedding date..."
"etiquette?"
The father let out a soft hum from his throat: "That's just an excuse to control the common people. Even if you skip the engagement and go straight to the wedding with Albert, who would dare to gossip behind your back?"
"Everyone will only praise you, saying that you are a perfect match and that you have created another beautiful story."
"Besides, even if someone dares to criticize, do you think Albert would let them off the hook?"
"Father" picked up his teacup and took a sip: "[The Deville] family is not to be trifled with. They have their own ways of silencing those who talk too much. You don't need to worry about that."
Ayana could find no more reasons to refuse.
Even if there were a million reasons, her father, who was eager to marry her off and use her to gain benefits, would turn a deaf ear to them.
"Just listen to me. There's a saying that goes, 'Marriage is arranged by parents and matchmakers.' Your mother passed away early, so I certainly won't be careless about your marriage. I'll definitely take care of everything. Don't worry."
The "father" seemed to be announcing or informing someone rather than discussing it: "Go back now. I'll talk to them properly about your marriage to Albert in a couple of days."
It's so annoying.
It's a restless feeling that makes you want to destroy everything, or abandon everything here and escape cleanly.
But it seems that none of them can be done.
She didn't have that much power, nor did she want to kill everyone here. This was where she grew up. Although she did hate everything here, it wasn't worth destroying everything. There were also many people here who had been kind to her in the past.
She was even less able to do the latter.
While [Monsardo]'s power, strength, and overall strength may not rival those of the top-ranked families, she is not to be underestimated. If she were to escape, [Monsardo] would likely hire several powerful Nen users to capture her.
By then, she will probably never be free again.
Even this last remaining freedom will vanish completely.
Ayana lowered her head and replied softly, "Yes, Father, I will follow your arrangements."
She followed the maid back to her room, threw herself onto the bed in frustration, buried her face in the soft pillow, and rubbed it against the pillow, trying to dispel the persistent feeling of irritation through this somewhat childish method.
But it was all in vain.
A feeling of irritability kept rising within me.
Ayana grabbed the pillow and slammed it against the wall. The poor pillow fell heavily to the ground with a loud thud. "Why did you have to make me marry that idiot Albert?!"
"He's basically a good-for-nothing with nothing but his looks! And he's a womanizer, constantly having affairs since he was a teenager. How could I possibly have a happy life if I married him?!"
"He keeps saying it's for my own good, but if even I can find out this information, how could my father not know?"
"Furthermore, why should that good-for-nothing who is inferior to me in every way be the next head of the [Monsado] family? He is simply not up to the task!"
"I'm clearly the most suitable person to be the head of the family, right?!"
All the pent-up complaints welled up inside me at once.
Ayana spoke while throwing things and repeatedly smashing them against the wall, clearly extremely agitated.
After finally venting all her emotions, Ayana lay completely on the bed.
She stared at the ceiling, her mind suddenly going blank.
"Wow, well said."
"Just tell your father all this, what can he do to you?"
The sudden sound broke the silence, and Ayana realized that although she had just smashed so many things down, she had not heard any sound of them hitting the ground.
She suddenly sat up again.
The man was wearing a tracksuit, seemingly having just finished exercising and not having even showered yet. He reeked of sweat, and his tracksuit was stuck to his back. "Ayana, it's been a while. You seem to be in a bad mood."
“Isaac, trespassing into a girl’s room is punishable by law.”
Ayana pinched her nose: "And you smell terrible. You should at least take a shower first, right?"
The man chuckled twice and waved his hands, saying, "Don't worry about the details."
Isaac Netero.
He is Ayana's friend, the one with violent Nen abilities.
"Let's not talk about that for now, Ayana, how's your Nen ability coming along?" Isaac asked again. "You said last time that you were almost done with the prerequisite quests, how's it going? Are you done? Have you entered the game yet?"
"Yes, they've already gone in."
Ayana pondered, "I've also gained two abilities, but I'm not sure if I can use them in the real world."
“In that world created by my Nen abilities, these two abilities are quite powerful. I wish they could be used in the real world as well,” Ayana nodded and said.
"Give it a try?" Isaac showed great interest in Ayana's Nen ability. "I've never encountered a Nen ability like yours before."
Suddenly, an idea struck him, and his eyes lit up: "Ayana, next time you enter the game, take me with you, okay? I'd really like to see what the world created by your Nen ability looks like."
"Maybe that's actually a real world?"
"...What nonsense are you talking about? It's just a game." Ayana rolled her eyes at Isaac. "Unfortunately, I can't bring you into the game. That game only allows me to enter."
She recalled the ability she had previously acquired: "I should be able to try applying this ability to the real world. Want to spar with me a bit, Isaac?"
Isaac raised an eyebrow, seemingly quite surprised.
As an Enhancement-type Nen user, Isaac is very confident in his physical skills and combat abilities, and is dedicated to fighting against different strong opponents, which he finds very interesting.
Ayana, on the other hand, is the complete opposite of him, a Specialist with very strange abilities. Her physical skills are only passable for a Nen user, and her combat ability is extremely low.
How could Ayana, in this state, actually take the initiative to challenge him to a battle?
As soon as she finished speaking, Ayana used [Powerful Amplification].
A powerful energy instantly filled Ayana's entire body, and all her restlessness vanished along with it, leaving only the joy of being filled with power and the desire to fight against the strong immediately.
She attacked Isaac.
The two jumped out of the window one after the other.
Perhaps because he often sneaked in, Isaac was very familiar with the terrain and knew exactly how to avoid the guards' eyes.
Ayana attacked him as she followed him away from [Monsardo].
Isaac truly lives up to his reputation as a Enhancement-type Nen user.
Even though Ayana's overall strength has been enhanced several times over under the [Powerful Amplification] effect, he can still easily catch Ayana's punches.
None of Ayana's attacks landed on him.
"This is surprising."
Isaac caught Ayana's fist and gripped it tightly. The force made Ayana wince in pain: "Ayana, I remember you didn't have any aura of a strong person at all just now. How come you exude the aura of a strong person in just a moment?"
Ayana ignored him and gritted her teeth, trying to pull her hand back.
But Isaac was too strong. Compared to Isaac, her strength was nothing. No matter how hard she tried, it was all in vain.
Isaac changed the subject, his expression shifting as he smiled and said, "Compared to me, Ayana, you still have a lot to learn."
He gripped Ayana's hand tightly, and suddenly exerted force, lifting her up into the air.
The next second, he slammed Ayana hard onto the ground.
Ayana plummeted toward the ground at an incredible speed, leaving Ayana no time to react.
Just as she was about to move, Isaac noticed her movement, appeared behind her almost instantly, and kicked her hard in the back, sending her flying into the air again.
This went on for several times, with one attack after another landing on Ayana. Isaac seemed to get a little bored, so he punched Ayana in mid-air.
This time, Ayana fell completely to the ground.
"Although you've improved a lot, you're still too weak, Ayana."
Isaac landed on the ground as well, standing casually with one hand on his hip: "But Ayana, aren't you a Specialist? How come you have Enhancement-type characteristics?"
“If you keep playing like this, you’ll never beat me.” Isaac shrugged.
Ayana rolled over and lay flat on the ground: "Want to try?"
In the system interface, the [Biomanipulation] button is about to be pressed.
