Chapter 39 The Brigade Leader of Meteor City 39 The Net of Heaven and Earth

Blood kept seeping from the wound on my arm, causing sharp pain.

All the remaining points had been used to redeem special abilities, and Ayana didn't have any extra points to buy healing potions from the system shop.

She could only grit her teeth and endure the pain from her wound as she slid down the outside of the main building, heading straight for its interior.

Ayana must intercept the Doctor before he and Uvogin face off, and she must take care of him.

Despite his immense strength, Uvogin was ultimately just an ordinary person. Facing a Nen user whose abilities were unknown, he had no advantage whatsoever and would only face certain death.

Thinking of this, Ayana's eyes grew even deeper, and she swiftly slipped inside like a black cat.

Unlike the hustle and bustle and fighting outside, the building was unusually quiet.

The air was filled with the smell of disinfectant and blood, mixed together, creating a very strange odor.

There are many rooms on both sides of the corridor in the building, and the doorplates are marked with numbers. I don't know what they are for.

Ayana held her breath and headed towards the innermost part.

Meanwhile, Feitan had successfully entered the low building through the ventilation shaft.

The room was dimly lit, and a dozen or so emaciated children huddled in a corner. When they saw Feitan suddenly appear, they trembled with fear and didn't even dare to cry out. They swallowed their sobs and stared at Feitan with trepidation.

Clearly, these children had previously been beaten and threatened for crying.

Feitan clicked his tongue and quickly scanned the room.

After confirming that there was no one on guard duty, he lowered his voice, his tone cold and hard for his age: "Shut up if you want to live, and come with me."

He easily found the bolt and used the tools Ayana had given him to break the door open.

Sure enough, there were no guards outside the door.

As Ayana had expected, the defenses here were very lax.

Those arrogant guys simply didn't believe the children could escape, and they couldn't even be bothered to set up the most basic guards.

"quick!"

Feitan gave the children a low shout, then urged them urgently, "Hurry up! Don't waste time!"

Although the children were scared, their strong survival instincts ignited a glimmer of hope in their eyes. They helped each other to their feet and staggered outwards.

However, just as they were about to escape the low building, a figure in a white coat suddenly appeared silently.

"It's truly touching."

A man slowly removed his blood-stained gloves and casually tossed them on the ground. His cold gaze swept over Feitan and the children: "After causing such a commotion here, you just wanted to rescue these children?"

"But where are you going? Why don't you tell me, and I'll come with you?"

Feitan froze, his expression changing drastically.

"Don't be nervous, I mean no harm." The 'doctor' smiled. "But since you've all come and made such a mess of my place, it wouldn't be right for you not to sit here for a while before leaving, would it?"

"And coincidentally, I've been looking to dissect a few children who are quite skilled." The 'doctor' then produced a brand-new pair of gloves from somewhere and slowly put them on.

His gaze swept over Feitan's body from head to toe, as if assessing its value.

His tone suddenly turned icy, as if stating a given fact: "Their fate was sealed the moment they were brought here."

"Stop wasting your energy, you are too weak."

As soon as he finished speaking, the 'doctor' became blurry and disappeared from the spot.

Feitan's pupils suddenly contracted. He gritted his teeth, trying to search for the 'doctor' with his eyesight, but to no avail.

Compared to the 'doctor', his skills are incredibly weak.

He could only rely on his body's instincts to dodge to the side.

Just then, a sharp gust of wind brushed past Feitan's cheek.

Fortunately, he dodged in time, and the sharp wind did not hit him, but only cut off a few strands of his hair.

Before he could react, he quickly took several steps back to the side, straightened up, and looked up at the direction from which the attack had originated.

The 'doctor' stood there, holding a scalpel that reflected a cold light, seemingly in a very good mood, even jokingly saying, "Not bad, huh?"

"How did you react? The reflex nerves in your brain?" His gaze slowly swept over Feitan's legs, as if he had some dangerous idea. "But even if your reaction speed is fast, if I cut off your legs, you won't be able to run anymore, right?"

He was serious.

Feitan broke out in a cold sweat, his brain racing.

If he escapes alone, he has a very good chance.

But he had these children behind him, and Feitan simply couldn't bear to leave them behind.

"Run!"

Feitan roared at the children, gritted his teeth, and took a step forward, adopting a fighting stance, trying to attract the "doctor's" full attention and buy the children as much time and opportunity to escape.

"oh?"

The doctor raised an eyebrow with interest, seemingly quite surprised by his action: "Trying to be a hero? That's a common mentality among teenagers this age."

"When you grow up, you'll realize how ridiculous your thoughts and actions are now, right?"

He abruptly changed the subject, his scalpel aimed directly at Feitan's body: "You won't live to see that day, and you won't be able to protect these children."

Meanwhile, inside the main building, Ayana kicked open the last room door.

The room was empty, containing only cold medical equipment and some human organs.

That 'doctor' seemed to treat human organs as collectibles, storing them in glass jars and displaying them openly on the shelf.

And without a doubt, those organs must belong to the children.

Ayana was furious. She scanned the entire room but found no trace of anyone.

An ominous premonition instantly enveloped her.

"Ha, is that all you've got?"

"How come it doesn't hurt at all when I hit it?"

Uvogin's angry roars and provocations outside seeped into the room through the building. From those shouts and curses, Ayana could tell that the 'Doctor' had not gone to the front lines to confront Uvogin.

Where did he go?

A terrible thought exploded in Ayana's mind, and she rushed out almost without hesitation.

The doctor's gaze was fixed on Feitan and the children!

She pushed her entire body to its limit, wanting to go even faster.

Although Feitan's strength is already considered quite good among the children.

But he doesn't even know what Nen is, so how could he possibly defeat a Nen user?

Ayana didn't waste much time, but it was still too late when she arrived at the low building.

A man grabbed Feitan by the neck with one hand, lifting Feitan into the air.

He held a delicate scalpel in his hand, aiming it at Feitan's heart, seemingly intending to kill Feitan with a single blow.

Ayana charged at the man without hesitation, punching him in the stomach and throwing a dagger that knocked the scalpel from his hand to the ground.

The man, unaware of the person approaching from behind, was caught off guard and forced to take the punch squarely.

He released his grip in pain, which gave Ayana an opportunity to take advantage of the situation.

She seized the opportunity to catch Feitan and shielded him behind her.

The latter coughed twice, spitting out several mouthfuls of blood, and one of his eyes was already swollen.

He struggled to his feet, seemingly not wanting to be a burden to Ayana. He wiped the blood from the corner of his mouth, neither crying out in pain nor complaining, only uttering a single sentence.

Be careful.

But he himself had suffered many injuries.

Feitan's body was almost entirely covered in wounds, with hardly any good skin left. Blood covered his entire body, soaking through his clothes, turning him into a blood-soaked mess.

He struggled to move slowly to the side, drops of blood falling to the ground, even forming a blood-red path.

This scene caused Ayana a sharp, agonizing pain, as if her heart had been ripped apart.

She understood Feitan's meaning, turned around angrily, her eyes bloodshot, and glared at the doctor.

The 'doctor' steadied himself, rubbed his abdomen, looked up at Ayana, a flash of surprise in his eyes, followed by a playful smile: "A Nen user?"

"It's really strange that such a young child is a Nen user." A scalpel reappeared in his hand.

The scalpel seemed to appear out of thin air. Ayana's eyes darkened as she deduced that it was probably a man's Nen ability.

"But since you're already a Nen user, why not find a place to hide and improve your strength instead of coming here to die?"

The man threw the scalpel and aimed it straight at Ayana.

Ayana wasn't stupid, and naturally she wouldn't let that scalpel attack her so easily. Just as she was about to dodge, she saw that the scalpel suddenly multiply into two, three, and even more scalpels.

The scalpels multiplied at an alarming rate, eventually reaching tens of thousands, forming an impenetrable cage that completely surrounded Ayana.

If all those thorns were to strike at the same time, she would be turned into a hedgehog!

He suddenly clenched his fists, and in that instant, countless scalpels stabbed straight into Ayana's body!

Ayana's breath hitched.

Feitan, who hadn't gone far, suddenly stopped in his tracks, staring at the scene in disbelief. His heart was in his throat, and he already knew what Ayana's fate would be.

Under this overwhelming attack, Feitan couldn't imagine any possibility that Ayana could survive.
