Chapter 28 The Leader of the Meteor City Troupe 28 (A Bright Future Already Achieved...)
With his limbs tightly bound by ropes, Adrian could only wriggle desperately toward Ayana like a reptile.
Large tears streamed down his face, one after another, his eyes red and filled with fear and terror.
Adrian used all his strength to wriggle desperately toward Ayana, as if the boy standing behind him was some kind of demon from hell.
At this moment, he no longer cared about his appearance or the pain in his body. He had lost his desire to live and only wanted to die. Death was now a hope for him.
"Tsk."
Feitan seemed to look down on Adrian. He kicked Adrian twice and said coldly, "Weren't you having a lot of fun torturing others? Now that it's your turn, you can't stand it?"
The boy's voice was low and seemingly calm, but his angry expression was like the brief calm before a storm. He looked up at Ayana, an uncontrollable rage spreading in his dark eyes: "Hey, is he still of any use?"
“Of course, we need to pry information about that organization out of him.” Ayana walked straight up to Adrian.
Seeing the almost pleading look in Adrian's eyes, Ayana felt a wave of nausea. She raised her hand and slashed Adrian unconscious with her blade. Then she stood up, gave Feitan a wink, and said in a deep voice.
“I understand your desire to make him pay, but if he dies, the trail will go cold.”
The boy's face was as cold as frost.
Although he was always gloomy, he was more terrifying than ever before.
Feitan had lost all the innocence a boy should have; he was like a demon crawled out of hell, taking pleasure in tormenting humans. He sneered and spoke with ease.
"I understand. I'll make sure he can't even die if he wants to."
Adrian was a fully grown adult, with a build that was on the stronger side for a normal person, but at this moment he was curled up in the corner like a cub, his eyes closed and his body trembling.
But the real child stood there, radiating a chilling aura and terror from within.
Ayana glanced at Feitan, said nothing more, and made no attempt to stop him. She walked into the kitchen and raised her voice slightly: "Let's eat first."
Fear clung to Adrian like a demon that would never leave, even in death. Although he had fainted, veins still bulged on his forehead, and his expression was distorted by deep fear, to the point of being terrifying.
Sweat beaded on his forehead, his heart pounded, and his hair, soaked with sweat, hung loosely on his face, making him look like a madman who had lost his mind.
"Hello."
Adrian's consciousness gradually returned over time, but he still kept his eyes tightly shut, refusing to face reality and only wanting to escape it through this method.
"Hey, get up."
The voice calling him grew increasingly irritated, but Adrian stubbornly kept his eyes tightly shut.
"Tsk."
With the final thud, Feitan's patience ran out. He kicked Adrian in the stomach, flipping him over.
The latter finally woke up this time.
The moment he opened his eyes, he was met with a pair of black eyes that looked like those of a demon. Those eyes stared directly at Adrian, which startled him.
Adrian leaned back, his eyes rolled back, and he almost fainted.
If he had actually fainted, it might have been a stroke of luck.
Feitan pressed down on Adrian's arm, using pain to force Adrian to stay awake. He let out a soft groan from his nose, then suddenly pulled something out of nowhere and deliberately placed it in front of Adrian to entice him, his questioning tone full of temptation.
"Want some?"
Feitan held a chicken leg in his hand. The chicken leg was probably the most robust piece of meat on the chicken. After being roasted over a fire, the skin turned a bright red, and a delicious aroma naturally wafted out, making Adrian's eyes involuntarily fixed on the chicken leg, and his mouth even watered.
After a restless night and no peace and quiet all morning, Adrian's stomach was growling with hunger.
He had been deliberately ignoring the hunger pangs in his stomach, but Feitan's enticement only intensified his hunger.
He swallowed hard, his stomach rumbled, and his lifeless eyes rekindled, flickering with glimmers of hope.
His dark pupils pressed against his lower eyelids, and his deliberately lowered voice carried a strange allure at this moment. Feitan asked again, "Want some?"
Although he was starving, Adrian still retained some rationality. He glanced at Feitan warily and shrank back slightly: "What do you want me to do?"
Adrian was a smart man, otherwise he wouldn't have gotten to his current position. He was quick-witted and realized that Feitan must have ulterior motives. So he didn't answer Feitan's question, but asked him directly what his motives were.
Feitan took back the chicken leg, squatted down, rested one elbow on his leg, propped his cheek with the back of his hand, and squinted his eyes: "You're pretty smart."
"Since you're so smart, you should have already guessed why we spared your life, right?"
Although Feitan always exudes a cold aura, he can't help but show some warmth when facing his own people. However, when facing enemies, this coldness seems to materialize, like sharp icicles on an iceberg, chilling to the bone.
"You have two choices now," he asked again. "One is to reveal information about the organization, and the other is to die immediately. Which do you choose?"
The man cherished his life, so Feitan naturally assumed that the man would not hesitate to reveal the organization's existence in exchange for a chance to live.
To everyone's surprise, after hearing Feitan's words, Adrian's face turned pale, then green, and he closed his eyes, his body devoid of any life force, and said in an eerie calm, "Kill me."
Feitan was clearly taken aback, and asked in confusion, "Don't you want to live anymore?"
"It's not that I don't want to live, it's that I can't live."
Adrian's face turned deathly pale in an instant, like that of a dead man: "You gave me two choices, but for me, both are dead ends."
"To ensure my loyalty, a curse has been planted within me. If the organization's secrets are leaked, my internal organs will begin to rot, and excruciating pain will engulf my entire body." Adrian shed two tears of despair, staring up at the ceiling as if he had already stepped into a grave, so his emotions no longer changed.
His eyes were dark and bluish: "Rather than dying in such agony, you'd better give me a quick death and kill me."
“You think I’d let you die so easily?” Feitan shattered Adrian’s illusions.
Anger and resentment ignited in Feitan's black eyes as he swiftly shattered Adrian's last illusions: "You treat the children of Meteor City like toys, like food for your pets, taking pleasure in torturing them. How much blood is on your hands? What makes you think you can die easily without paying any price?"
He looked down at the man lying on the ground, his gaze fixed on Adrian, scanning his body from head to toe. His face was icy, devoid of any warmth or smile: "I will show you just how foolish your choice was."
A sharp scream came from another room. The scream was so penetrating that even though Ayana covered her ears, the scream still penetrated the barrier and she could hear it.
Having no other choice, Ayana simply sat up in bed and called Uvogin and Phinks to go out and check on their farm.
Uvogin wanted to go next door to take a look, but Ayana pushed him out the door and patted him on the back: "Don't worry, I don't think anyone is more suitable for interrogation than Feitan."
[Host, to speed up the mission, the shop has introduced medicines that can accelerate crop growth. They're not expensive; you can take a look.]
While walking down the street, the system suddenly spoke.
Ayana rolled her eyes and opened the shop.
[Special Effect Item [Growth Accelerator]: Specifically for crops, it can make crop seeds germinate and bear fruit within one week. Please remember to harvest in time.]
[Special Effect Item [Health Accelerator]: Specifically designed for crops, it enhances crop health, helps them withstand extreme weather, and ensures crop survival.]
[Special Effect Item [Production Accelerator]: Specifically designed for crops, it significantly increases yield, helping you achieve a bountiful harvest.]
This is a golden opportunity.
With these three items, even in the harsh environment of Meteor City, abundant crops can be cultivated.
By then, the children of Meteor City will be able to survive on their own two hands and will no longer have to scavenge for food in garbage dumps!
Provided they can ensure they have enough to eat, they can even sell surplus crops to earn money, which they can then use to buy clothes, do other things, or even go to school.
A bright future lies ahead!
A beautiful vision flashed through Ayana's mind, causing her eyes to light up involuntarily and a happy smile to appear on her lips. Her walking posture gradually evolved into a hopping and skipping motion, leaving Uvogin and Phinks somewhat puzzled as to why her mood had suddenly become so joyful.
