Chapter 24 The Troupe Leader of Meteor City 24 (Retrieved after repair...)

Ayana glanced at Nobunaga.

She had spent far less time in Meteor City than Nobunaga, so naturally she didn't have the same deep feelings for this land as he did. However, she wasn't heartless and could fully understand the surging anger in the boy's heart.

If it were her, she too would lose her mind in anger, wishing she could tear this freak named "Adrian" to pieces and make him pay for the lives of those dead children.

But she kept Adrian around not out of pity or to preserve his name; she wasn't that kind.

"Why aren't you saying anything?" Nobunaga coughed twice.

He leaned against the wall. Although his mangled back was no longer gushing blood as much as before, it was still flowing, drop by drop, leaving a trail of blood at his feet.

He leaned against the wall, struggling to stand upright. One eye was swollen and half-open, while the other was completely closed due to pain. Blood streamed down his face as he examined Ayana's face, seemingly trying to recall: "Wait, aren't you the girl who came with the knight during the day?"

The girl was bathed in moonlight.

Her features were of an innocent kind, and her light blue eyes and the soft moonlight shining on her further enhanced her sense of holiness, like an angel descended from heaven, holy, beautiful and innocent.

During the day, Nobunaga was still immersed in grief and deep fear, so he didn't really take a good look at the girl's appearance. Now that the crisis was temporarily over, he finally had the time and some remaining energy to observe the girl carefully.

The girl wore pure black clothes that didn't match her appearance. In order to conceal her figure, she successfully blended into the darkness. Her striking golden hair was also tied up and rolled up in a black hat.

She was dressed entirely in black, except for her unadorned face, which was a color other than black and thus stood out even more.

Blood splattered on the girl, making the black stand out even more. A few drops landed on her fair cheeks, a deep crimson that didn't match her skin color.

She looked directly at Nobunaga, her expression calm, devoid of pity or sympathy, and explained to him in a quiet voice, "Don't you want to know where he came from?"

"The disappearances of people from Meteor City, vanishing without a trace overnight, must have made you suspicious long ago, right?"

Ayana and Nobunaga met for the first time today, but from the brief meeting, she could tell that he was not a child who would accept the status quo and wait to die.

There was hatred in his eyes, a sign that he would stand up and fight back.

She closed her eyes and then opened them again, coldly saying, "Killing him now is too easy. I want to pry his mouth open, find out who's behind this, and uncover the truth. After that, this man is yours to deal with. You can do whatever you want with him."

“And I will share all the information with you,” Ayana added. “Being kept in the dark isn’t a pleasant experience, and I don’t think you’d like that feeling. You also want to know the truth, don’t you?”

In fact, Ayana could have simply knocked Nobunaga unconscious and taken him away without offering any explanation.

But looking into the boy's eyes, which were burning with fire, she simply couldn't bring herself to do it.

Nobunaga did not reply immediately, seemingly deep in thought. He narrowed his eyes slightly, then nodded, before his vision blurred and he completely lost consciousness, fainting.

Ayana quickly caught him.

The moment Ayana caught Nobunaga, her hand was soaked in blood. Although she knew the boy was injured, she did not expect it to be so serious.

The hot, moist blood seeped into Ayana's clothes, making her heart clench.

The boy was already exhausted from blood loss, but the last vestige of his strong will to "not die" kept him breathing and kept him conscious.

Now that the crisis was completely over, and the girl possessed a trustworthy and reliable quality, Nobunaga's tense heart relaxed, and after not getting a good night's sleep for several days, he finally closed his eyes.

But now, Ayana has encountered a problem.

...

It was already late at night.

Logically speaking, Kuroro should have been asleep by now.

But Ayana has been gone for too long today.

The boy lay on the bed with his eyes open, the blankets neatly tucked in, but he was wide awake, his heart still pounding with anxiety.

Since he couldn't sleep, he simply threw off the covers and sat up, then pulled a book from the bookshelf and sat down at his desk to read it page by page.

Suddenly, a sound came from the downstairs door, which made Kuroro both happy and startled. He reflexively stood up from his chair, wanting to open the door to check if the girl was alright.

But then he suddenly realized that this would only scare the girl and make her have unwarranted suspicions about him.

Reason returned in an instant. Although Kuroro's hand was on the doorknob, he hesitated to open it. He thought for a long time, as if he was struggling internally. Finally, after an unknown amount of time, as if he had finally convinced himself, he slowly opened the door, but only a small crack.

Kuroro peered out through the crack.

I saw nothing but an empty corridor.

That's true, he hadn't even reached the fence, so how could he have seen what the girl looked like?

He chuckled, as if mocking himself, closed the door again, and sat back on the bed. Although he appeared the same as before, he couldn't help but feel much more relaxed and finally felt sleepy.

"Kuroro...?"

But then the girl's voice suddenly came from outside the door.

She seemed to have noticed the slight commotion, stood at Kuroro's door, knocked gently twice, and asked, "Aren't you asleep?"

Kuroro hesitated for a moment, unsure whether he should answer.

To be on the safe side, he chose to keep his mouth shut and even closed his eyes, pretending to be asleep and having a sweet dream.

The girl seemed to stand at the door for a while longer, muttering to herself, "Did I hear wrong? It shouldn't be like this..."

Kuroro breathed a sigh of relief upon hearing the girl leave.

Regardless of whether the girl truly suspects him, as long as he stubbornly denies it and does something that makes her feel guilty, her suspicions will quickly and naturally disappear, and the matter will easily pass.

However, we should be more careful next time.

...

"Where did this guy come from?!"

Uvogin was wide awake, pointing at the long-haired boy with a shocked expression: "I just took a nap, how come there's another person here?"

The people in the room next to his were woken up by his noise and came out one after another.

"What's all this noise so early in the morning?" Feitan's temper was already bad, and being woken up by this startled shout caused his morning grumpiness to explode. He pushed open the door irritably, a layer of anger born from lack of sleep emanating from him, which, combined with his gloomy face, made him look particularly terrifying.

He raised his eyes, his face grim: "If you keep yelling like this first thing in the morning, I'll..."

But the moment their eyes met, the sound clearly disappeared.

He clicked his tongue, tossed his head, and walked downstairs, muttering, "She probably picked this up again."

Although using the word "pick up" sounds like treating people like small animals such as cats and dogs, from a certain perspective, Feitan's words are not without reason and are quite credible.

Phinks opened the door as well. He wasn't too surprised, just nodded to Nobunaga, and then followed Feitan. The two seemed to be talking about something that no one else could get a word in, and they went downstairs together.

"Hey, why aren't you saying anything?" Uvogin was very interested in the new face.

Compared to the others, Uvogin was much more outgoing. He reached out to grab Nobunaga's shoulder and talk to the newcomer, but the other man was wrapped in bandages, so he didn't know where to start. His outstretched hand hung awkwardly in mid-air, and his expression was quite conflicted.

Kuroro was the last to come out.

He seemed to have slept well, stretching lazily with a relaxed expression and a smile playing on his lips. He looked refreshed and relaxed, and his demeanor was very pleasant.

Upon seeing Nobunaga appear, Kuroro, like the others, was momentarily surprised, but quickly put on a gentle and understanding smile and greeted him sweetly, "Hello, Nobunaga."

Nobunaga remembers Kuroro.

He didn't speak, but nodded in response.

To everyone's surprise, Kuroro paused again, a rare look of astonishment appearing on his face, his expression unusually indescribable. He gave Nobunaga a once-in-a-lifetime look.

This is rather impolite behavior, and Kuroro rarely does it.

After hesitating for a long time, Kuroro finally spoke hesitantly, asking, "Did Ayana wrap the bandages on your body for you?"

Nobunaga then noticed his own appearance.

His entire upper body was wrapped in white bandages. The person who helped him bandage seemed not very skilled at securing such a complex and large body area, so they tied bows where knots were needed. Nobunaga had at least three or four bows on his body at this time.

Not only that, but the person who bandaged Nobunaga tied his hair into a high ponytail with a rubber band for convenience, so that his slender neck was exposed.

Nobunaga's lips twitched slightly: "Is...it?"

A roar suddenly erupted from downstairs.

"You brats, how dare you treat me like this! Believe me or not, I'll have Bryce eat you all up, leaving not even a single bone behind! Believe me or not, I'll skin you alive and use your skins as human cushions!"

"Wait, don't stab me with the knife!"

Ayana was finally woken up.
