Chapter 128 The Passing of Life

"I won't..." Before she could finish speaking, Xi Yun saw Sui Xin looking solemn under the pale moonlight, his brows furrowed and his face somewhat unpleasant.

"Suixin, what's wrong?" Xiyun gently stroked Suixin's forehead and asked softly.

"I don't know either," Sui Xin said casually.

Previously, I often experienced needle-like pain in my chest. However, for about half a month, I haven't had it, and I don't know if it's a side effect of the separation of my primordial spirit or something else.

He didn't know what this feeling was like. It wasn't particularly painful, but he felt extremely depressed. It was like a premonition, hinting at a lifeless desolation, a stagnant pool about to dry up.

Bubbles continuously rose from the pool of life within his body, where spiritual energy intertwined with the golden liquid, surging within.

Upon closer inspection, countless cracks appeared to connect on the pool's walls, as if it were about to burst open at any moment. Above the pool, countless points of light floated out and dissipated into the air.

“This is…” Xi Yun examined Sui Xin’s body and discovered the problem. She was immediately startled and sat up.

The reason is simple: Sui Xin's vitality is slowly dissipating, and at a considerable rate.

Xi Yun's life force was already low to begin with, and after the last incident, it was only about seven or eight percent. Now that her life force is constantly dwindling, how could Xi Yun not worry?

Sui Xin also felt it; her body was gradually weakening, and she no longer had the strength to speak. All that could be seen was her slightly moving lips, as if she were saying something.

Seeing Sui Xin's state, Xi Yun panicked completely. Her life was slipping away faster and faster. At this rate, one percent of her life would dissipate every hour. It was hard to say whether she could even make it through the night.

"No, I don't want you to die," Xi Yun cried out, tears falling like rain. She gently pressed her hands against Sui Xin's chest, and a surge of pure life force flowed rapidly from her body into Sui Xin's.

She didn't know if it would work, but it was the only solution she could think of.

It seemed to be of little use; the life force dissipated into the air, with only a tiny fraction entering Sui Xin's body.

With a soft "whoosh," the chaotic energy was also drawn out by Xi Yun all at once, gradually enveloping Sui Xin.

The chaotic energy was almost transparent, but the extraordinary aura it emitted made it a force to be reckoned with.

That woman seemed to have said that chaotic energy is a supreme treasure of heaven and earth, and it might be useful to Suixin. But we can't worry about that now, as long as he can wake up.

As if sensing the pure power from the outside, the Origin Meridian automatically activated, and a small vortex appeared in Sui Xin's chest, along with the life force and chaotic energy emanating from Xi Yun, all of which were absorbed into his body.

The chaotic energy truly lived up to its reputation as a supreme treasure of heaven and earth. As soon as it entered Sui Xin's body, it converged towards the pool of life and disappeared into those tiny crevices. Before long, the pool was completely restored.

In addition, a unique pattern appears faintly on the life fluid and spiritual lines, giving it an aged yet extraordinary appearance.

Suddenly, the pool of life shone with golden light, and all the life force was lifted and floated in the air. Then, as if an invisible pressure was exerting itself all around, the liquid gradually condensed to one-third of its original size.

Its surface was covered with spiritual energy, as if it were naturally formed and flawless. When it fell back into the pool of life, it looked to be only about five percent full.

His cultivation level also broke through to the second stage of True Essence in that instant.

As consciousness gradually returned, the body felt lighter than ever before, and some unknown gas slowly flowed into the body, constantly nourishing the limbs, bones, and meridians throughout the body.

"Could it be..." Sui Xin hurriedly opened her eyes and saw Xi Yun sitting weakly in front of her, her eyes full of exhaustion, but the light in her hands had not dimmed.

"Suixin, it's so good that you're awake," she said, before collapsing forward.

Sui Xin quickly caught it, his eyes filled with heartache. Although he didn't know exactly what Xi Yun had done, he could tell from her weak vitality and tired expression that she must have paid a heavy price.

After examination, it was found that the vitality was less than 20%... and there was damage to many meridians...

Most of the vitality dissipated, with only a portion flowing into Sui Xin's body. The stripping away of chaotic energy also caused damage to some of the meridians.

At this point, Sui Xin was wide awake. She brushed some of the disheveled hair from Xi Yun's face and sat there quietly, afraid of disturbing her.

"Sigh," Sui Xin sighed softly, as if feeling somewhat helpless.

The bright moonlight shone through the window, illuminating his figure, who looked lost and forlorn.

He didn't know anything about destiny, nor did he want to believe in fate.

But it seems that everything that woman said has come true.

Looking around, it seemed as if countless dangers were converging on him from all directions in various forms. He was at a loss, managing to block some, while others rushed towards Xi Yun.

Danger strikes unexpectedly, and even he could become the source of disaster. Can he stop it all? The answer is no.

Thinking of this, Sui Xin felt helpless, afraid that she would get hurt, afraid of losing her.

Melancholy, hesitation, and fear filled my heart.

...

...

A small hand reached out from his arms and gently stroked his face. "I thought you... Waaah~", the soft sobbing made Sui Xin's heart flutter.

"Silly Yun'er, I'm right here. Why are you crying?" Sui Xin said softly, wiping away her tears with eyes full of affection.

After a while, Xiyun calmed down and remained lying in Suixin's arms, their eyes never leaving each other.

"Yun'er, I..." He hesitated for a moment, unsure whether to speak, but finally decided to say it, "I ultimately failed to protect you."
