After bidding farewell to Jianjun, Suixin immediately chased after Xiyun in the direction she had left.
Because Xi Yun had no cultivation, Sui Xin quickly spotted her and followed behind her, calling out, "Yun'er?"
As he spoke, he reached out to take her hand, but she shook him off.
Sui Xin felt somewhat helpless and followed her all the way back to her doorstep.
Xi Yun stormed into the building and turned to close the door.
"Yun'er, please open the door," Sui Xin knocked on the door repeatedly, not quite understanding what was happening.
No response.
Sui Xin stopped, leaned against the door, and scanned the area with her divine sense, finding that she was also standing by the door. She said softly, "Yun'er, actually I don't want to go either."
"Ever since your accident, I really don't want to leave the sect or be separated from you for even a moment, for fear that something might happen to you again."
"But Senior Sword is right. Staying in the sect all the time without going out to see the world is definitely not going to work. I need to become stronger. I must overcome my fear. Only in this way can I better protect you."
“Yun’er, I can’t bear to part with you either. It feels like time stretches out when you’re not by my side. I still remember that night when we came out of the Divine Realm. I was alone in an empty room, drinking until I was drunk. My heart was breaking. It was an extremely painful feeling. So I promise I won’t be gone for too long, okay?”
It's not Xiyun's fault. From childhood to adulthood, the two of them have basically never been apart. Even during the five years that Suixin was in a deep sleep, she was still by Suixin's side. This time, it can be considered the first time they have officially separated.
She wasn't worried about herself, but she couldn't bear to part with Suixin and was afraid something would happen to him.
She understood, of course, that following Suixin would only increase his burden. She didn't blame Suixin; she only hated her own incompetence in not being able to stay by his side.
Hearing Sui Xin's words, Xi Yun became even more upset, burst into tears, and slapped herself across the face with a clear, loud sound.
Then came a few more slaps.
When the sound reached Sui Xin's ears, he panicked and, without thinking twice, ripped the door off.
Hearing Xi Yun's cries and seeing her still hitting herself repeatedly, her cheeks already red and a trickle of blood seeping from the corner of her mouth.
Sui Xin felt extremely distressed, and tears welled up in her eyes. She quickly grabbed Xi Yun's hands, hugged her tightly, and said in a trembling voice, "Yun'er, don't do this."
Feeling his embrace, Xiyun cried even louder, her body going limp, thankfully Suixin was there to hold her.
"Suixin, I really want to go with you," Xiyun said, crying, and hugged Suixin tightly.
Sui Xin patted her back to make her feel more comfortable and said gently, "Yun'er, be good and don't cry."
Xi Yun nodded, trying her best to calm herself down.
It took her a while to stop crying, but the thought of Suixin leaving made her tears start flowing again.
Xi Yun was still weak. Seeing this, he picked her up and sat down on the bed on the second floor.
Looking at her scratched cheek, he gently stroked it, his face full of complex emotions, and slowly infused it with spiritual energy. "Yun'er, you can't do this again next time. Do you know how much it hurts me?"
Xi Yun's eyes never left Sui Xin, as if he were about to leave at any moment.
She grabbed his hand that was stroking her cheek. "Suixin, are you really leaving? I don't care how strong you are, as long as you stay with me."
As she spoke, tears streamed down her face uncontrollably.
Sui Xin pulled Xi Yun close to her chest and said, "Silly girl, it's not like we're going to die. Don't cry. Maybe I'll be back in a few days."
"And I must become stronger; I don't want to see you get hurt again."
“But I still can’t bear to part with it,” Xi Yun replied, clutching Sui Xin’s clothes tightly.
Sui Xin sighed. Wasn't he the same?
"Yun'er, you must take good care of yourself and wait for me to come back, okay?" Sui Xin slowly lowered her head, and the two of them touched forehead to forehead, whispering softly.
Looking into Sui Xin's eyes, Xi Yun reached out and cupped his face, "Then you must stay safe and sound, and remember to come back soon."
“Okay, I’ll definitely be back in a month at most,” Sui Xin said.
“No, at most fifteen days,” Xi Yun retorted. “By then, my cultivation should be almost recovered. If you haven’t returned by then, I’ll come looking for you.”
"Oh? No way, how can I feel at ease letting you come out alone?" Sui Xin said immediately.
“When the time comes…” Sui Xin chattered on and on, afraid that Xi Yun would really come looking for him then.
The outside world is nothing like the sect; the martial world is dangerous, and Xi Yun is all alone.
"I can't say for sure how quickly I'll be back, but I promise I'll be back within a month, even if I haven't finished my training, okay?"
"Okay, if you don't come back by then, I'll come looking for you," Xi Yun said, as if she hadn't heard a word she said.
"Yun'er, you..." Sui Xin wanted to say something more, but her mouth was suddenly covered by Xi Yun's hand.
"You always criticize me, but I'm worried about you too!" Xi Yun said irritably.
Sui Xin held Xi Yun's hand without saying anything more, as there was no point in saying anything more. He just hoped that the training would be faster.
"Go whenever you want."
"Tomorrow afternoon."
"What? So fast?"
"There's nothing I can do, that's what Elder Jian told me."
Xi Yun looked reluctant and whispered, "Stay with me."
"Um".
The two chatted for a long time until night fell.
Xi Yun took a shower, and Sui Xin changed into a clean set of clothes.
Sitting on the edge of the bed, Sui Xin gently dried Xi Yun's hair, enjoying its fragrance, and then hugged her from behind.
Despite his constant attempts to comfort Xiyun, he was equally reluctant to let her go.
